2007 Hotel Questions
« on: March 06, 2007, 10:23:17 am »
This is the sort of thing that our Hotel Liason is for, however I'm writing stuff about the hotel for the newsletter.

I have a lot of information gathered already, so what (if anything) do you guys want to know about the Downtown Vancouver, Convention Center Hilton?

Edit: What good would this Q&A be without my map?

Also, there is a convenience store one block EAST of the hotel, in the middle of the text box for the garage. I'm going to get its hours as soon as possible, probably on my next visit.

I hadn't thought of grocery stores/Targets, or even coffee.

There is a Starbucks brand coffee bar in the lobby so I'm sure it'll be plenty busy.

Since people are actually asking now I guess I'll go find the answers.

There are several convenience stores within 1-2 blocks of the hotel but none of them are 24 hours, I don't think. There is a Safeway on Hayden Island (the same as last year) and another one on Main Street and 38th, that is the closest grocery in Vancouver, unless something new has cropped up in the last few years. I don't think there is a 24-hour convenience store nearby in Vancouver, and that you would have to go over to Hayden Island for that.

OK, I'm going to put the map up in the top post.

I added a couple of handy things last night.
Still no idea where to get knee high socks. But only because I haven't looked yet.

Just an FYI, I'm not going to expand the outside map any more, but there is a lot of stuff north of 19th avenue. Both for food and convenience stores. Heck, the closest Pizza Hut and 7-11 are both up that way a ways.

Just a reminder to you drivers.

So I went and visited the minimart around the corner at the meeting and I thought I'd post the hours since it's the closest place to get snacks and drinks after dark.

Day and Night Market
6:30am-10:00pm Monday- Friday
7:00am-10:00pm Saturday
9:00am-8:00pm Sunday

From the look of the place it is probably going to end up closed on Labor day. The only way to be sure (other than asking the dude) is to see if he's open on Memorial Day.

Also, having seen the farmer's market that takes over the street west of the park, I now know that it has a ton of food options, more than enough to add it to my map later.
