So this year is going to be my first anime con ever! Yayz! *parties* I'm even cosplaying. Double yayz! *parties more* So tell me what I should expect. Maybe even someone might want to hang out with the clueless newbie? >.>....lol

I will hang out with you!! Seriously you are going to have so much fun, I definitely suggest trying to make some friends on the forums and at the meetings beforehand and get involved if that is something you want to do even if it is just in envelope stuffing!

Greetings, newbs of all shapes and sizes!

Really though, my one bit of advice would be to make yourself omnipresent on the forums. We're all just a big group of friendly, people-happy folks on here, and the more people you know on here, the more random occurrences of "hey, I know you!" you will encounter at the actual con, which is a great feeling indeed, heh.

So yeah. Just, you know.....stick around, heh. ^_^

To tell you the truth, I've never seen an eppisode of Nurito, so I don't even know who that is. D: lol. But I'm going to be Nuriko from Fushigi Yugi.

Yey... more newbs to absorb into Fandom. Soon we'll take over the world, one person at a time.

Things to do at your first convention:
1 - show up in costume

You'll look spiffy and lots of people will come talk to you.
2 - Volunteer! (my first convention I volunteered and it was a blast--I got to see a lot of what goes on behind the scenes of a convention, and even had the opportunity to spend more time with the guests than most ordinary con-goers. Also, it's a perfect way to meet lots of cool people. Guess where I met my husband? Yup, he was on the convention committee at my first convention...)
3 - talk to random people (yeah, this takes a bit of guts, but guess what? Everyone is friendly and you'll always be able to find something to talk about since we all have at least one thing in common - an interest in anime)
4 - Attend as many panels and main events as you can. If you see a panel on something and you have no clue what it is, then go to it anyway... you may learn something.
5 - Visit the vendor's area at least once... I'm sure you'll go back there many times with additional money to pick up items that you absolutely MUST have.

I think first cons go better if you cosplay, but I wouldn't know that. xD You only have a first con once, after all.

I didn't get to know anyone on the forums last year, though I did join. Then I had the nice surprise of finding my cosplay buddies over the internet.
("Holy crud! You were [--]?! I was [--]! =D")

If you're going as a well known character, get ready for glomping.
...Actually, expect that anyway.

My first was last year, and I had so much fun that I talked another of my friends into coming this year. xD It'll be awesome. o_o

Well, we can always have a newbies vs oldbies Janken match at the Forum Meet Up Panel. I think that'd be the best option since its right after the Pocky Club panel and the only thing we're going to be there for is to get to know each other.

"oldbies"? Dahlink, that's just not going to work....this is ANIME convention...must use JAPANESE. You newbs are kohai. I am sempai. All bow down to sempai....

"Kohai" = underclassman / new person
"Sempai" = upperclassman / person who's been there a while.

I don't even know how many cons I've been to. There's a bunch of Sci-Fi/Star Trek cons I went to between ages 5 and 12, but it all jumbles together. I'd ask my Mom, but she has a bad memory and I don't even know that she could count how many she took me to. There's at least 4 that I remember off the top of my head, because the events were seperate enough that I remember them clearly. Plus there was at least one that I went to with her best friend on a day trip.. Then the Star Wars celebration for episode 2 in Indy. And this year with be my fourth year with Kumoricon.

So, this may or may not be my 10th con.

There are multiple spellings of n00b.

Newbie, noob, n00b, newb, nub...

But the spelling denotes connotation. Newbie and newb, are the more friendly connotations, where as noob, n00b, etc. are derogatory.
