anything good and new
« on: May 29, 2007, 10:04:39 pm »
So, this is basically a post where people can recommend any new, rarely heard of, and/or subbed anime that has yet to make it to the states----> that way we can actually watch it while it's still enjoyable xD
I kid, I kid.... sometimes.

To start things off, I'd highly recommend sumomo mo momo mo (available on youtube btw)
genre: comedy/romance(?) lol sure
note: it does have some nudity here and there

so, if you're bored and are browsing for a new funny anime, this would be one to look into =P
other than that, anyone have anything that they'd recommend to the people? =D

I recommend Kiba.  From what I've read it aired in Japan in '06 and also has a card game based off of it in Japan.  I found it through http://www.anime-direct.com

I have apparently been watching a lot this season:

Claymore (fighting/action)
Nodame Cantabile (funny/music?)
Sola ( romance reminds me of air but less confusing)
Hayate no Gotoku (comedy , reminds me of 2x2 shinobu)
Bleach is good again

Heres also a list recent stuff:

Zero no Tsukaima (romance/magic)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (too good)
Pani Poni Dash! (really really random but great)
Fate/stay night ( combat)

If I had to recomend one I would say Suzumiya if you don't know what its about.

Emma, Season II is airing in Japan.  Torrents of II Chan Translation Group's excellent fansubs are available for download.   [legally, since it's unliscensed in the US]

I, too, recommend:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Watch for me wearing my Haruhi costume!! )
Pani Poni Dash! (Random doesn't begin to describe it)

and   Luck Star - it looks like a regular high school story but the character's comments are hillarious.  :D

Lucky*Star is definitely the primo choice this season, however, I say this with a warning: If you're not too well versed with both Japanese culture and Japanese animation, Lucky Star will fly over your head.

Darker than Black is a new series by BONES and it is quiet enjoyable.

Moonlight Mile is a more adult series about two men trying to make it in space. Moonlight Mile is very realistic and very well done.

Seirei no Moribito (Guardian of the Sacred Spirit) is based on a famous book (which is part of a series) of the same name, it is arguably the best looking series to come out this anime season in Japan. The story is actually quiet good and the action is amazing.

My highest recommendation goes to Dennou Coil, this imaginative Sci-fi series is truly amazing. The first two episodes blew me away. Imagine a ghibli-esque future world with virtual data streaming everywhere.

The newest Gainax series, Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann is also good. I'm a gainax fanboy, so it goes without saying that I like this series.

I did several series of posts on my blog about the newest season of anime, so if you're interested in anything I've mentioned click the image in my signature and it'll take you there. Use the search function to find the article relating to what you want to read about.

Well, it's been out for a while, but 2x2 Shinobuden/Ninja Nonsense is absolute hilarity.

I just recently found out about Claymore being made into an anime. I have been reading the manga and am absolutely enthralled by it, so upon finding the anime on youtube, of course I began devouring episodes like a madman.....well, as much as what I have read thus far would allow. I want to finish the manga before I finish the show. But, anyway, I love the show so far. The animation style mirrors the illustration style perfectly. It's amazing so far. ^_^

That's pretty much the only straight-from-Japan I am watching at the moment. My finger is very far from the pulse, you might say.

That's not a bad one. If you like that watch Solty Rei too. But see a few things in between, otherwise you might have deja vu all over again.
Have Fun

I recommend two I just finished...

Princess Tutu (This anime gets a bad name well...because of its name, you got to watch the whole series to understand the kinda secret plot within it, doesn't even get mentioned tell the 2nd part of the series)

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (LOL I just finished it this morning, it was AWESOME! The order of the episodes is mixed up though, I had to arrange them chronologically with the help of a web site}

One of my friends told me about that, though I've only watched one episode so far it is pretty decent.

Heck yeah, I loved Haruhi. Though I thought it was funny watching it in order of release because it was so random ^-^

Recently, I've been hooked on NHK ni yookoso. It's about a homebody who never leaves his place until a girl decides to help him in his recovery.
It's a series with humor and some seriousness. Also, a few scenes that are a little sketchy xD
My boyfriend introduced it to me and it's become a routine to watch an episode every time he comes over xD
Give it a try and tell me what you think, k? O__O;;
I'm sure you'll get some laughs out of it.
