^: In my opinion, it's most likely a degenerative side-effect of the American Culture's hatred and fear of intelligence and education. My belief is that it is probably a shadow from serfdom and industrialisation periods where the upper class needed a method of re-enforcing compliance and even general gullibility from the masses.

^: 6, 3 pairs, though one I haven't worn in so long I have no idea if they fit or not. Another are my 'dress' shoes, but I've not worn or taken care of them. Leaving me with my cheepo Kirkland Signature brand shoes which I seem to wear for about 6-12 months then toss... About time to get a new set actually.

^: Not one of the options you listed, but it would have to be capitalisation. A single letter at the start of a word that shouldn't otherwise have one is something like italics for me, while ALLCAPS is bold (IE shouting).

Have you tried using the Insert Quote function? You just need to turn on java-script/etc if you've got them disabled, just add kumoricon.org to the whitelist.
