Question for people in Middle School or High shool
« on: June 07, 2007, 09:53:31 pm »
Nowadays, school kids are getting punished for play-acting with a thumb and forefinger representing a pistol. Is anybody who is in school now still know the parody, sung to the 'Battle Hymn of the Republic," which starts off:

"Mine eyes have seen the glory of the burning of the school,
We have tortured every teacher, we have broken every rule..."

If you are in middle school and you have sung this one, let me know...
I'm just curious, is all...

Hint: Part of the chorus is:

"Glory, Glory Halleluja,
Teacher hit me with a ruler..."

- G

I remember that song and sung it in grade school and JHS

In JHS I had a pack of road flairs taped to an alarm clock in my locker for a year.  At other times I had hatchets, sword and knives in my locker.

In HS at various times I had Swords of all kinds, a cross bow, Long bow, Halberd, Sledge Hammer (Covered in satanic markings) battle axes and Japanses Arsuka 37 Rifle in my locker.

And a lot of guys brought hunting rifles to school and they were in the car or in the locker or in one corner of the office

Never got in trouble once

try all that now days

We didn't have any songs like that at my school.  We just said straight up, "We hate this school," "We hate this teacher," (sometimes to their face), stuff like that.

Now, as for the finger gun thing, maybe I would have gotten into trouble for that, but just about the ntire school body could have gotten away with all sorts of stuff that would have been worse than that.

No, I've never heard that version of the song or even the original version of the song.
The closest thing I remember from school was the parody song "This land is my land, this land ain't your land" and I know there were a few others we changed to something violent or childish.  Nowadays you probably couldn't even mumble something like that without getting in serious trouble.
