Catgirls vs. Bunnygirls
« on: June 15, 2007, 03:58:52 pm »
This is the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Bishoujo Doom.

Who comes out as the victor? In the left corner we have Catgirl, whose cuteness knows no rival.

In the right corner we have Bunnygirl, whose weapon of choice is sexiness, but can hold her own on the cuteness battlefield.

(I would have a male edition, but the catboys would need another rival since bunnyboys have yet to catch on. Either way, though, we're all catgirls and bunnygirls in the eyes of the forum....)

Catgirls win, hands down. Literally....the catgirls don't even need their paws to win, because their cuteness disarms any relevant bunny sexiness that there is....sexiness always loses to cuteness....it's a law of physics.

And one side comes out with an early lead!

Are catgirls the dominant competitor, or is the cat demographic stuffing the ballot box? Stay tuned to find out.

That's an odd first suggestion. o_o; I would have thought foxgirls would be suggested before lizard girls. Come to think of it, I've never seen a lizard girl in any anime or Japanese piece of amateur art...

Anyway, I knew catgirls would be the favorite, but I didn't expect it to be unanimous. What would people vote if foxgirls supplanted bunnygirls, I wonder.

Hm. Well, I'm allergic to cats, but used to live with a bunny named Artemis and have a cute pink bunny costume complete with pink thigh high stiletto heel boots. So other than my love for Dash and her workshop I'd definitely be entirely on the side of the bunnies. Someone has to be :)

I dunno, rabbit-tat-tat and it's all over for the cat-girls! lol

Maybe if this question was asked just after seeing Escaflowne, and before seeing Haruhi, would have changed my opinion. And maybe if an Oregon State senior hadn't been selected Playmate of the year this year.

But there is always the memory of Julie Newmar as Catwoman! Or would that be a bunny girl in a cat suit?

Wikipedia is love!

While kemonomimi (or "animal ears") technically counts as anthropomorphic, it deserves to be distinguished from "furry" because the two fandoms are pretty different, especially in Japan. Kemonomimi usually only involves the addition of ears, tails, and sometimes wings/horns to an otherwise normal person, mostly to highlight unique personality traits. It rarely involves fur, scales, or other major changes (which is one reason I prefer it).

Y'know, bunnygirls aren't getting much love, but I've actually seen a number of instances where bunnygirls are cute rather than sexy. One was a bizarre Japanese kid's video game where a bunnygirl with super powers fights a legion of evil raccoons, hehe. A better-known example would be Rabi en Rose, from Digi Charat. ^^ Bunnygirls don't have to be Playboy bunnies, y'know.

Hey, if I started a male division, who would catboys go up against?...

Tenuki's? Men would prefer wolves, but would probably be dogs, bulldogs or basset hounds most likely.

I just have been thinking. I have 3 cats, no rabbits. I don't like rodents. Why would I vote for bunny girls? Because bunnies won't scratch me? Should remember Watership Down.

Wolfboys/dogboys would be valid, though I don't see them in large numbers. Wolf's Rain and Inu Yasha would be the most notable reasons to include them, but the guys in Wolf's Rain are rarely (if ever) shown on screen as human with dog ears or tails.

Now fanart, on the other hand... ;)

Well most of the stuff I'm watching now comes from Anime-Direct which most of their stuff is straight from Japan and currently airing there.  Which becomes depressing when you watch something your really getting into and it says that the next episode will be in February.  Ahhh I've got a long wait.

I think that's a pretty relevant subject!

I'm not really sure who my absolute favorite is, but I know Nuku Nuku would definitely be one of the top ones. Ya gotta love a catgirl who can throw a bus. ^_^

Now, if we were to bend the rules a little bit, I'd have to say that Leashy with her current avatar is my favorite. ;) But I bet a lot of you won't let me vote for a real person wearing cat ears. Phooey.

Avoiding multi-posting the image for those with slow computers...

Anyway, I wanted to say that the thing that impresses me the most about that picture is that it shows an animation with the subtitles still in tact, and still manages not to suck. In conclusion: saved to file, to be used for future forum ammunition. ;)
