Train Man movie--WTF? (spoilers)

OK, so WHAT was the ending supposed to mean? Did the writers decide to throw out everything they'd built up to?

I saw it, with the post-credits scene, that he'd imagined the whole romance, made himself up because it was so vivid, then met the woman for real. But that throws out everything that happened to his online friends, doesn't it?

And since it's a real-life story, what *really* happened? I'd heard that they got married, is that true?

Just in case you didn't know, there's also a Train Man drama series that is slightly different. I haven't seen it, but I've heard good things about it. :3

I believe his online friends benefited from the experience they had with him. Emo kid went outside, the nurse got over her break up, the couple spent more time together.

I haven't done extensive research on the REAL story though...

But with the ending implying none of it ever happened, where does that leave the online people? Do they even exist?

I thought the ending was a little bit weird too, but I still love the movie just as much.

Because the ending showed him back on the train, still a nerd, and the two went right past each other without notice.

And yet somehow he's the more social version of himself in the post-credits sequence where they "meet".

I believe that scene was a flashback. I'm sure it was.

Earlier in the movie, it showed that exact same scene. A wallet dropped, and Train Man picked it up, slipped it into the little girl's lap, and left.

The scene shows again in the end, to show that the wallet actually belonged to Hermes. Something like destiny that they ended up together.

So then what was the deal with the post-credits sequence, where he saves her but instead of being a nerd like he was intially, he was his post-transformation self? Because that kinda negates the whole rest of the film.

I think that was a "current" scene. It was to show that the wallet belonged to Hermes, because he hadn't known that before.

So it wasn't a "reality" sequence that negated the rest of the film? So then what was the post-credit sequence about?

Oh! I think that sequence reminded him of the wallet. Thus the flashback.
