Hotel Reservations
« on: July 23, 2007, 12:47:07 am »
Not sure what the deal is exactly, but every time I've tried to make hotel reservations over the past month or so, it doesn't seem to work.  I've made several attempts to contact the hotel liaison about this, but each was to no avail.  Does anybody know if the hotel block is actually full, and if not why the reservations aren't working?  Should they prove full are we going to arrange to get more space for con-goers?  Help is greatly appreciated since its starting to get down to the wire.

Granted that may be true, but the thread is lacking two important things.  1. Current updates, last one was over a month ago.  2. Any inclination as to whether Kumori-con plans to try and accommodate for the severe lack of space.

Ok if you didn't know already the higher ups in the con staff are busy, really freaking busy. I can't belive they haven't collapsed under the pressure just trying to bring you all a great convention.  So my advice to you is to find another hotel and stop stressing out our directors about stuff this simple.  I mean come on it is vancuver, you are bound to ind something cheap to stay at than one of the classyest hotels they have in town. and you can always split a room with someone.

By all means come and enjoy the con everyone and get involed, have fun, no pot, you know the drill.

I have been hearing that the hilton is indeed full but no worries there are other places to stay at in the area.

See yous all at the convention, I'll be in the gaming room as reno!

Thank you to all you who have made this con possible by the way, we alls appretiate it.  right everyone? ^_-

Yeeeeees!! We are so appreciative....there is honestly not a single thing I can think of that could reflect how grateful I (and all of us) are towards the staff who make this work. There are a lot of times when people giving speeches will say "If it weren't for the fans, this wouldn't be possible"....well this is not one of those situations. Yes, we the Con-goers and volunteers pay and enjoy the weekend and do plenty to support throughout the year....but it is rhe staff who actually MAKE THE CON WORK. There is no amount of words to show how appreciative we are to you all for that. So, the joy you will see on my face year after year will have to suffice.......unless you like fruit baskets.....then I will get each of you a fruit basket, lol

to confirm, the hotel is FULL, no possible way to get more roms.  We have extended the room black multiple times and at this point the entire hotel is booked solid under the weight of kumoricon.

My suggestions: red lion just across the river, econolodge, or any other hotel you can find in the area.

As a side note: 3 months from almost any convention, the hotels in the area fill to the brim, thus its always a good idea to register a room early. You can always cancel a room if you change your mind, but you cant always get a room at the last second.

Thank you for the concise and direct response Guspasho.  I didn't create a thread to complain, I created a tread to get information.  The brash and condescending manor in which my question was approached by other staff and members was incredibly insulting and the situation doesn't at all resemble my past dealings with Kumori-con.  Hopefully I can avoid further hostility altogether.

My issue has been effectively resolved.

Sorry, but our designated person for these issues, the Facilities Liaison, has been AWOL until he finally resigned, and since those issues were supposed to only go through him, we were left with little to offer. We're working to improve the response now that hotel arrangements are in other hands.

I did not mean to be hostle, I am sorry but I am meerly stating that there are other effective ways to gather such info.  like reading other posts on the matter ( i bet ya there are some ^_-)  Also, you could contact the Hotel Directly.  I found out at the last meeting, but we don't expect every person to attend thoughs, even i as a newbie know that. lol

Sorry for being so harsh, didn't mean to offend.
;D Have a pleasent vist to the con!
