The Kumori Con Area
« on: July 25, 2007, 10:44:07 pm »
Questions to the locals around kumori con area. How is the area there? I mean not to sound like a scared out of towner. My friends and I are looking at getting a room at the econo lodge (Since its the best thing thats there as of right now) and we just wanted to make sure that the area was found to be safe among the locals. We realize the hotel is a lower end hotel and dont expect much from it but we just wanna make sure that we are not getting ourselves into a bad area. So yeah... comments would be greatly welcomed.

Again, I dont want to sound like a chicken but we just wanna know whats going on since this will be our first time there.XD

You'll be safe walking to the hotel and back. Nobody is scared of Vancouver at night.
Sure they may be bums wandering around but theres no gangs or anything.

If you'd like to see how far you'll have to walk....

Yeah that guy was weird.

You will be safe and have a good time I promise!  Vancouver, especially the part we will be in is very easy to navigate and downtown vancouver is mostly businesses, hotels, and apartments.  Plus we are next to a big park so it is very scenic and nice for evening walking. There isn't really parts of the main downtown area that I would consider "run down" or dangerous or anything.

I live in Vancouver, WA and Last year I had a friend visiting me from Vancouver, BC.  It was her first time to this area and she had a blast, she had to spend a day or so by herself because I was working and she was safe enough to take the bus all around Vancouver and see the city and she loved it so you should all have a great time! And if you get lost you could always call me and I could direct you to where you need to be  :D

I stopped in Vancouver and checked out the area while I was passing through. I like this place better than Portland and Seattle. Yeah to the west of the con building as a really sweet park. I think if you are in costume, you will be the scary ones to the locals,  :o muahahahaha!!
Sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me...so tie me up and throw me down and show me that you like me...

There really isn't much to worry about here in Vancouver. I have lived here for 21 years, and there is nothing to be afraid of. When you attend the con you can try looking me up and I'll tell you as much as I know about the area. I'll also be working the con.

the area we are going to be in is just wonderful.. there is a subway across the park from the main hotel... People like to hang out in the park but no gang activity so i dont think you should have any problems... besides when congoers come to town we are the scary ones...
