Okay you Avatar: the Last Airbender fans. I've got a conundrum I need help on. I was watching "The Last Airbender" again (why I don't know) when a thought hit me:
Aang is an Airbender and trained with Airbenders at an Air Temple. Agreed? Yes.
Avatar Roku, his predecessor, was best friends with Firelord Sozin.
Firelord Sozin used the aptly named Sozin's Comet to destroy all the airbenders. Avatar Roku tried to stop him.
If he used the comet to destroy the Airbenders, and Roku tried to stop him, how is it that Avatar Roku and a 12-year old Aang existed at the same time?
Thoughts?
They don't.
Avatar Roku died during a volcanic eruption that he and Firelord Sozin ere trying to tame. When Roku was overcome by the fumes, Sozin left him to die. This is because Sozin knew he would be able to destroy the next Avatar by wiping out the Air Nomads which were the next benders in the cycle. Twelve years later was when the comet arrived and he wiped out all the Air Nomads except Aang.
So Roku didn't actually try to stop Sozin during the comet but twelve years before it. ^^
That is, this is what I know from the cartoon.
I refuse to watch the movie cause I've heard it sucks and Zuko is too ugly for me.
So the above is how everything is in the cartoon and
should be in the movie. But who knows what exactly they screwed with...
