Yeah I don't watch a lot of anime currently. It doesn't help much that I'm a busy college student.
The only shows I'm watching are updated once a week so it gives me plenty of time to get around to them, so just Hetalia and Kimi ni Todoke right now.
Otherwise I just research history and myths in my spare time, and fool around on the web.

It was Club Fair day today at school. So I was checking it out and lo and behold the anime club was showing Chobits on a screen. So naturally I had to stop by xD then I ran into snowstripedtiger and Washougal_Otaku. I had never met snowstripedtiger before so that was cool XD

The only cute blonde with glasses that's in the anime club is Amanda. I just asked her if that was her, and she shook her head "no." Oh! Are you talking about Annie? She still has yet to actually be a member of the club, but she wants to join. I told her that she can help us at the table, which would start her off on a good foot, but she still needs to come to a meeting.

The more I research history/archaeology the more I want to do a really cool historical cosplay. Like an ancient Etruscan, for instance.

A friend of mine from Japanese class showed up wearing some historical Turkish outfit or something. It was for his history class. It was pretty rad.

I really hate it when people hate an anime JUST because of the fanbase. I mean i love Hetalia and Ouran host club, but there's a lot of people in the fandom of those that really get on my nerves, but that's not going to make me hate the anime. Hell, even if i was the only fan in the entire world of Ouran or Hetalia, i'd still watch it because i like it.

@Saki: I kinda doubt my response is in response to what you're thinking about. It sounds like what you have in mind is people who actively trash shows, and that's not what I'm talking about below.

There's a difference between hating something and deciding it's not worth your time because you'll never get those hours of your life back.

Most American TV falls in the latter category for me, but I don't "hate" all of them. In fact, there are almost certainly some good shows I'm missing out on as a result. But I choose not to because in my experience, most of them will probably be so dumb they'll make my brain cells start committing suicide.

In the same way, there are anime that I choose not to watch because they have traits that in my experience are associated with shows that were worse than a waste of time. Massive fanservice, fans who think that it's TEH AEWSUMEST EVAR, and fans who denigrate anyone who doesn't share their high opinion of it are all on that list of traits.

I don't "hate" One Piece, or hentai, or a lot of other shows. I can't hate them, because I don't know enough about them to hate them. I just don't want to watch them. Maybe it's my loss, but I don't.

Eh, i'm actually talking about people who actually say they won't watch and/or they hate it because of the fans...I mean, I'm not going to get all ruffled up because someone says they don't like an anime or that they hate an anime. There could be HUNDREDS of different reasons why they wouldn't like it (style, storyline, characters would be good examples). All i'm saying is that i hate it when people get all angry and start ranting off about how much they hate an anime only because some of the fans act like idiots...
Everyone has different tastes in anime, and i'm perfectly fine with that, but i don't think it's a good reason to hate something just because people are fantards about it...It's basicly saying "i hate something because of the people who like it."

@Saki: I totally get what you're saying. People who abandon a show they loved just because other fans behave stupidly is pretty silly. They should just love the show as it is and sepparate the fans from it because they don't make up the show. The show makes up itself. :3

And of course, not every fan ends up doing that very thing for reasons of no longer cosplaying the show and whatnot. They can still love it just the same without showing it as much as before. This is just another way of looking at how much of an influence fandoms have on others, whether they are fans or not. Again, it's silly how fandoms work. =w=

To me, at least, it's not possible to genuinely hate a show unless you've watched it. The shows I hate, I hate because 1) I'll never get those hours of my life back and 2) they truly offended me in some way.

As for not watching something, you might as well say that it's wrong for people to not watch a show because an actor they dislike is the star. If someone has hated almost every show they saw Adam Sandler in, they don't need to watch the latest show with Adam Sandler in it before they're allowed to decide not to watch it. Same goes if someone has hated almost every show that has fans who act a certain way. It may be that person's loss, but that's their decision to make.

One great example of what randompvg is saying (at least for me) is:

Lets face it...Pitch Black was about the only good thing to come from his career IMO. Chronicles of Riddick weren't awful but not really good either. Everything else of his has left me wanting to travel back in time & stop myself from throwing away those precious minutes of my life. So now, when I see he is in a movie, I have little to no interest in watching even a second of it.

I still don't think you get what i'm saying at all. I'm talking about (for the third time) people who hate an anime and won't even give it a chance, just because they hate the fanbase. Say Twilight for example, I hate Twilight even though i've never watched it. It's not because of the fans, but just because i've read up on the storyline and it just sounds too overused IMO to even bother watching it, plus the fact that the vampires sparkle which IMO is a really stupid idea.
So, what do i say about Twilight? "I hate it" not "i hate it because of the fans"
Same goes with anime. Someone who's never watched a certian anime can say that "they hate it" and i'll be perfectly fine with that, but if they say, "they hate it because of the fans" than that bothers me. And if you don't believe me, than i can't really do anything about that. It's happened to me multipull times before, so if it's never happened you, than that's your problem.
One more thing damn it, if i have to try to explain this again to everyone i'm going to get seriously pissed off (actually more so considering i'm already pissed off...)

I used to be like that with Hetalia, because I am honestly afraid of the fandom, then I realized this miraculous thing:
You can watch something without participating in the fandom!
And to what Random + Cyprus were saying, I do have actors like that. I won't watch a Jim Carrey movie unless I don't have a choice in the matter.
