My 2 cents: The dance was definitely way too loud. I could plug my ears and definitely hear speaker distortion. The music selection, lighting, and everything else was great... except for the volume. Sadly, I've experienced this same issue at Otakon, the concerts and stuff in the main events room were at about the same volume (way too loud) and then the L'arc en'ciel concert was way too loud as well, guess what though - the same audio company was involved with the concert as well as the main events room.
I've had absolutely no problems at Sakura-Con. We had some issues with loud volumes in 2003, but for 2004 they were perfect. The concert was awesome and all the other musical performances.
