Well, I didn't go on Saturday, since I was on the mountain skiing all day, and got dinner in Hood River on the way home. I tried Sunday, only to find the place closed. Tonight, though, I made it to Biwa on my way home from the gym. My friend and I split several small dishes, including pork bellies, chicken hearts and croquettes, all of which were delicious. The restaurant itself was really nice. It had a great atmosphere and the decor was really good. It is located in a building which used to house a music venue called LaLuna. Most of you are probably too young to remember it - LaLuna closed in 1997 or so. The last time I was in that building, it was to see Radiohead, on the Bends tour. That was a little disconcerting. Nonetheless, despite the changes, it was a good experience. The location is conveniently close to where the next con will be held. Happy hour is at 9:00 and they have a full bar, and reasonably priced drinks. Service was good, and the staff were attractive!
Finally, the ramen: this stuff was unbelievably good! The broth tasted like a mixture of lobster tails and butter and the noodles were perfect. I got mine with an egg in it, and I'm very glad I did. It was fantastic. In short, Biwa rocks! I'm very happy to have a place like that open up in my neighborhood and I'd recommend you all try it.
