So I'm a senior in high school and I'm attempting to get some of my core classes for college out of the way that I can so I'm taking Writing 121 right now. I've been in Honors English all my high school, mostly because of my reading and analysis skillz but I completely and totally suck at writing. D's all through last year, I got a C on my last paper and was content with my life.
I took Writing 121 mostly so I wouldn't fail hard when I got into college. Our first paper was a narrative piece on a place that you've been too. I decided to write mine on Kumoricon because I couldn't think of anything else. I got it in on time and was worried until my teacher started talking about some of the papers that were really good. One of the ones he mentioned was mine. He said it was really interesting and I did a wonderful job describing it, he felt like he was there when he read it.

So I got a fricken' 85 on my first college paper. That's like an A for high school grading.

So I thank Kumoricon for making my life awesome and giving me ideas that make me seem smart.

I like to think of it this way:
Out of my entire academic career from kindergarten to graduating from college, that is the only class where I would wake up early in the morning, stare up at the ceiling, and say to myself, "Dear God do I have to go to this?"
If it wasn't mandatory I would have dropped that class in an instant.

I live in Central Oregon and they offer it at my school. We have some debates but mostly it's just writing.

I got an A in 121 when I was in the Navy, but the Clackamas Comm. Coll. wouldn't accept it, so i had to take it over, and got a B.

Now I am an English major. And you poor people have to suffer my enhanced literary skills. Puns Away!

Either my high school was easy... (Probably not so much) or you aren't trying hard enough.  I got marked down for being too formulaic (Well Duh I followed *EXACTLY* the document structure they taught me in 4th grade... they only ever expanded it with more paragraphs and sub-sections which were copies of that same pattern, only inlaid.), and I still managed to get A's out of every class but PE... even that I managed to pass.  Of course paper to paper variance was a little higher...

So in other words:

Congratulations on getting a perfect B.  Now, continue to work harder and get that A.  I think the hardest part might be finding new things to talk about that you actually want to share... that was always my most difficult area... (Who would share private social life for a school report?)
