Studio Ghibli Cosplayers?
« on: February 10, 2008, 01:13:48 pm »
So then, is anybody here planning on cosplaying a character from a Studio Ghibli film? They're great movies but I haven't seen a whole lot of cosplays for them. That said, will we be seeing any Sans, Totoros, Nausicaas, Kikis, etc? :D I myself plan on doing a Nausicaa costume, haha.

I'm pretty sure Antares is cosplaying Satsuki from My Neighbor Totoro.

I've actually been thinking about cosplay Satsuki too...we'll see about that.
I was going to cosplay Markl from Howl's Moving Castle, but a group cosplay idea fell apart...so no one that one...

I like the simplicity of my Satsuki costume, and it was really fun to run into a Kiki at the con I wore it at - we were like "Ah! Miyazaki!"

Not sure if I'll be wearing it for Kcon -- still haven't decided :)

Well I'd love to cosplay as Totoro, but that may be a ways off. It would take some planning.

I would soooo love to see a Totoro. I was just thinking 'someone should go as totoro' when I read that. You'd get major love.

I know a couple of my friends and I will be cosplaying Howl, Sophie and Calcifer (that'll be me... don't ask, it will be very strange) for 09, but we can't do it in time for 08. But I'll be sure to track you all down and get pictures! I love Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki.

If it's done, I'll be doing Ashitaka. My plan is to have him finished by the end of August. I've got the fabric all picked out, I just have to buy it and make my patterns.

I've had a Howl planned to do for a while now, although I'll be doing that if I finish my Solid Snake off in time. So if I can, then yesh, Howl is on the to-do board. =)

That's awesome!

The Cake on a Plane cosplay group members are still doing Miyazaki cosplay.

Is it alright if we have the photoshoot on Saturday? I have to use my real hair for this costume, and I want to get it cut so I can use wigs easier. I need to use a wig for one of my other costumes and thus want to get my hair cut before then. If that makes sense. xD

I didn't want to start a new thread...

Will anyone be cosplaying from Princess Mononoke on Sunday or Monday? My Ashitaka cosplay is actually making progress, and I'd love to know if there's a particular day I should wear it.
My Saturday's full, so I can't join the shoot if it's still happening that day. I'll probably take some pictures, though.

Dang. The photoshoot I'm organizing is at 2:00, and there's no way I'll have time to change.
Oh well. I'll be Ashitaka on Sunday. I got everything done for AE this past weekend, except the sword and chaps, and I'll be making those this week. I'll be the one in the straw rain cloak.
