I don't understand any of what went on. I mean, I read the blog and everything, but I just don't follow the commotion. Looks pretty crazy though.

Aaaah, all is made clear now. Well, with that bit of disclosure, I find that all very amusing and very impressive. Awesome.

It's one hell of a stretch to call $cientology a religion.  More like criminal racketeering enterprise.  In fact, several nations consider it such and have banned it from their countries.

Who gives a &*(^%? This probably brings more people to Scientology than not.

Seems like an anti-cult has started to protest a cult? So why aren't they after Mary-Kay cosmetics, as they are/were classified as a cult by a Portland State study some years back? And how about the Mormon church, that was determined by the same study to be a cult also?

Or is this hysteria over Scientology fueled by Psychiatrists, bent out of shape by T.C's rant on Oprah over hyper-medicating the masses?

It's the lawsuits, Jay.  When scientology tried to sue YTMND, the geeks got mad.

So they must be a cult, any good religious fanatic would blow up their enemies, not sue them in court.

For some more fun, go look at smoothmedia's ytmnds about scientology.  I really enjoyed the one where he goes to get a "stress test" from a scientologist, using their "e-meter".  LOL, Xenu!

Thank you Tom.  That was hilarious, even if the death note (probably) doesn't work that way.

Bonus: Invader Zim Comic (Aww, it's only got like 6 or 7 pages... and hasn't been updated in Sooooo long x.x)

I heard about the protests and rallys (in fact I was even invited to participate in the one in Portland, but I was busy with other plans). And they were wearing V masks! That's so cool!

Okay, but my biggest question is... well, first of, what is Anonymous. I know it's some internet thing and it has something to do with hackers, but what is their point? I just think it's kind of ironic that here are two fringe society groups that are verbally attacking one another.

I don't know, but Scientology is weird and Anonymous is just... weird.

My take on it is that Anonymous is the name that 'All the Others' have finally begun to rally under.

However, it really started... actually they cover it better as usual: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymous_%28group%29

I first heard of Anonymous as being a group in a very misguided report by one FOX (news?) affiliate.  I don't know the like to the video anymore, but I'm sure you can find it if you want to see that.

The problem with that is though, it was pretty clear that the news report was on a few individuals who happened to be anonymous posters on some websites, as opposed to any other anonymous group, like the very much more positive group who support the anonymous destruction of the cult of scientology.
