I was thinking about buying a notebook and wrapping it with some sort of material and just painting in the letters, but that way will work out too.

Great add more complications to the costume. Oh well when making a costume a glue gun in my best friend. I did all of my Temari costume with a glue gun and a good majority of the other two with a glue gun.

My mom is good at it too but I am a very independent person so I want to try to do it on my own. One day when I really get annoyed I'll ask her to help.

I'm able to handle the machine.  maybe its cause similar to like pressing the foot petal on a car.  but I understand independant mindset.  like being to do things yourself and feel pride in that(at least for me).  what you could do is just try working with person making your cosplay if possible.  I did that with my first, after that I just jumped in....rather blindly though ^_^*

Yeah I can do that. I would love to do Asuka Langley in her plug suit....but I would feel a little self conscious about that. I would have to work out or get restrictive material. I guess I could do the yellow dress when they met her, like one of the pictures in your album.

I juggled the idea of doing commissions and have one as I speak, but its something I'm rather tentative about.  Main thing is I'm slow....and lazy.  And I admit I feel a little conscious about asking girls their measurements for a commission.

Some people are used to having measurments taken and don't mind giving them.
If I knew any better I betcha the one's that order on line have it handy somewhere.

I can understand people who are used to their measurement being taken.  but if taken out context, it doesn't look good when a guy asks a girl for her measurements.

I wouldn't mind giving measurements but I would mind walking around all day with a budge in the stomach area, plus I have HUGE thighs. Damn my soccer playing >_<

ummm...maybe wear a waist cincher?  and speaking of thighs, I seem to have hips when one my prior roommates tried putting a dress on me.  I'm sure its possible to downplay them in a cosplay.

My hips aren't that bad. My thighs bother me. They are athletic (just not at the top of my inner thighs) but my stomach bulge is almost gone.

sounds like you're almost where you want to be.  though...depending on what materials you use, plug suits sounds rather....unpleasant to wear for long periods of time.

Nice!
I got the shorts for my Rin cosplay!
I'm going to make the collar and belt soon.
I might get lucky and find a shirt and a yellow something.
I think for the headphones I'm gonna use my old destoryed micorphone and just make it white a cut off the wires.
[The head phones >> I stepped on the wire and the plug in and the cord snapped appart and the microphone doesn't work anymore so i can use it....]

Congratulation. You are a little bit closer to your costume. I really like the way it looks and I can't wait to see the finished product.

Get to that cosplay. I love making my costumes. I have three that I could wear but I think I am only going to wear two. I am planning on altering my Temari costume a little bit. I want to make the armor look thicker by adding foam or something underneath the shirt. I want it to stay in place instead of hanging off my body.

hey, let me know what you do for armor and how it works out please.  I'm interested in learning about it to expand my cosplay options.

@SageBell
if I dun see you in your planned cosplay at kumori, I'll be very very sad....so start working please! ^_^

Speaking of which......I really should finish off some of my cosplays.  I already have the mats so I dun have to spend anything at the moment.

Finally making some progress on Mana!  I had nothing to do earlier, so I broke out the hot glue gun, wood saw, tacky glue, exacto knife, and gold spray paint and began working on the magic staff~!

It's not done yet; I still have to wait for the ping pong balls to stop smelling of spray paint and some tacky glue to dry, then bring out my model magic and paint it first.

The good news is, it's really light, so I won't have to worry about tiring out at the con - it's mostly plastic, wood, glue, and cardboard tube.  xD

As for her magic book, I recently got new YuGiOh manga, and it shows the back and side!  Now I can finiiiiish!  <33

The actual sewing will happen over the summer, when school's out, due to my need of wonderflex and fosshape.
And more spray paint.  >_>

I will let you know how it comes out. I may try to do it this weekend but I may also wait till the end of school. I have so much time. I also need to remake the shoes. I did a quick job because I thought I would wear it to Kumoricon lite but I ended up with a different costume.

Over the weekend I started a new costume and it's coming along. There is a lot of work. I can't wait till Kumoricon. I finally get to go as Albel Nox. So far most of the armor and claw is put together and finished or needs to be painted. I finished the skirt just now and cut the shirt to size. I still need to sew the shirt and belt. I also need to make covers for my shoes find purple thigh high stockings or dye white ones and dye and style the wig.

Thats not too much work. I have three months to do it all. It should look amazing.

I may just buy white ones and dye them, that way they would be the same color as my gloves (I had to dye them too). I can't wait to get it done. I'll be able to work on it a little more this weekend but next weekend I'll have to take a break. I have finals in two weeks x.x After that I am done for the year and I have all the time I want to work on it.

Now that Fanime's over, I can start cracking on the next round of cosplays, which is AX going into Kumoricon.  I got a prioritisation list laid out this morning (we'll see how well I stick to it).  Which means that next up:

1) Nue (Air Gear).  I swore to have this done for AX, after all, especially since I failed for Fanime.  Working on the regalia intermittently, trying to figure out if what I've planned will cooperate, but at least I've got all the actual costume materials.
      a) Mock up pattern for coat.  Vow to use an actual pattern next time.  Realise this is impossible.  Learn.  Draft better.
      b) Figure out how the zipper tape I bought works.  See if it's possible to put a double-sided zipper on it, or if I'll have to fake it.
      c) Sew coat.  Curse at PVC the entire time.  Freak out that something will go horribly, horribly wrong.
      d) Style wig.
      e) Make Black Crow emblem.
      f) Make regalia, time permitting.

2) Ryuushi Risai (Juuni Kokki).  Got the wig and two costume pieces in progress, but it's a ridiculously multipart outfit.
      a) Finish sewing white undershirt.  It's about halfway done, though I may tear out one sleeve to fix it, since I'm not 100% happy with how it sits.  Yes, neurotic.  Needs collar and ties, primarily, and a bit of hemming.
      b) Cut pieces for teal vest/shirt/thingy.  Dye test with fabric + thread.  Depending on how this works out, sew and dye or dye and sew.
      c) Make pants for under skirt-thingy.
      d) Make coat.  If twill doesn't work, buy new fabric.  Possibly dye the dupioni for the cuffs and collar to a deeper shade, since I'm not sure I like it as is.  Find good buttons.
      e) Style wig.  This mostly involves straightening the bulk of it.
      f) Make obi.  Curse extensively at the lack of good reference pictures and the horror of quasi-Hanfu.
      g) Make ties for lower legs, or whatever you want to call them.
      h) Buy a new pair of kung fu slippers.  Mmm, comfy shoes.
      i) Make belt to go over obi.  Probably wind up using Sculpy.
      j) Hem skirt-thingy once it can be tried on with all the other costume elements, to get the proper length.
      k) If feeling particularly masochistic, try to make sword.

As for Komui, I'm not even thinking about him just yet, though I do have the coat fabric and pattern, and I ordered the wig today.

If I start soon, it might all get done.  Unless, y'know, work tries to kill me some more.  D: D: D:

I have enough money to get one set of contacts and the last wig I need, but on top of all the other things I still need to buy, I totally forgot about paying for the hotel! >.o So I desperately need a job this summer to get everything done! XD That is number one on my To-Do list...

Komui wig on order.
Komui fabric purchased.  Might need to buy some black bias tape, though -- not sure yet.  I kind of want to do my own just so I finally have an excuse to buy a bias tape maker.
Need to start digging up references, though, because I don't have any for his second uniform.

Ordered some of the dupioni for my Risai cosplay.  Hopefully the colours will be better this time (the cuff fabric was too pale and too orange last time), though I could just overdye the fabric if they're not.

I was going to mock up my Nue coat pattern this weekend, but I caught the post-Fanime plague, so maybe I'll just try to work on the emblem instead, since I can do that holed up in my room without moving too much.  *hacks up lungs some more*  Or maybe I'll wash out the wig so I can restart the styling.

Debating picking up stuff to learn resin-casting.  Oh, brain, why do you not focus well?

Woot! I am finished with 75% of my Albel costume. I am waiting for the shoes to dry so I can put the armor on them. I also need to make the shoulder armor and a wrist guard. I am going to get the wig next week and I can work on that. I tried it on last night and it looks very very good.
