is the cannon going to be at tomorrows meet up? Even if it isn't done you should still bring it so you can show us and see how it will fit through the halls ^_^

Ah, nope, not quite, heh. It is still in pieces, just a bunch of boards and pipes right now. I won't get to nail it together until next weekend, buuut, I can bring photos of the parts or something, lol.

damn I wanted to see it. I guess pictures are the next best thing. I can't wait for this event. It is going to be so much fun. I got into full costume today and I think it looks fantastic. I just need a few pictures to add to my cosplay.com account

hehe, yeah, even without cannon, it'll be a blast. I'll be bringing my camera, taking lots o' pics. ^_^ It'll be a nice test run for my Barret, since I haven't worn it since some Borders Anime Party back in March, I think. My hair won't be right, and I won't have his tattoo, but everything else should be spot on.

Oh sweet Mother Jenova, I'm so glad I'm nearly done. Yuffie is seriously nearly finished, and it's total awesomeness. The wig just needs one more go with the hot water straightening method, then I can chop at it and probably sew the headband on so it doesn't run away on me. My other wig turned out to be an impromptu Cross Marian wig (and I totally love the color!) and I certainly hope it'll be easier to manage than it has been these past several combings.

I has shoeses for Yuffie. Gawd, she's almost done!

Mostly done with the tunic for Ashitaka! The sleeves need to be taken in a little and I still need to make the collar, but the bulk of the work is done on the top. Pants are next, and they should be easy.
Halfway done with Sakura's seifuku blouse. All the black pieces are sewn together, hemming's done. I'll be working on badges tomorrow and cutting out/sewing Syaoran's top.

Lots of work left, but I should have help with the CCS outfits at the work party tomorrow. Yay for group cosplay where the other people know how to sew!
Still need to figure out some bits for the Star Wand and Syaoran's sword. I've got a pvc pipe for the staff and a wooden star I can sand into the proper 3-D shape, but I still need the ring and large gems. And to see if there's any way to mod my tai chi sword.

I am mostly done. I have a cloak for Albel (that I am going to bring today) that needs some more feathers glued to it but that wont take long. Other then that I am all done. I decided that I am not going to get the contacts. Devin can just photo shop the pictures to give me red eyes ^_^.

I have made no progress this weekend, between being sick and going to see Eddie Izzard (YAY!) and having to clean house because we have someone coming to look at the spare room.  T_T  Once he's gone, I go grocery shopping and get to work.

Thinking about just putting hooks and eyes or snaps or something into the back of my Miranda dress for now, and unstitching those and replacing them with buttons later on when I have time.  I'm afraid there'll be too much of a time crunch for me to do that, and buttonholes are a Grade A bitch.  The clock key worked out fabulously, though: I just have to seal it, antique it, and then finish it and it's all good to go.

On the other hand, my corset's done, and I think it'll work wonderfully for the obi base, even if it actually came out a little big (!) -- it's not enough to make it worth modifying now, and I can always dart the top in a little later on if I have to.  Just need to put it on Monday and get one of my friends to wrap me in muslin and trace the top and bottom lines.  :3  Oh, strange and wacky plans.  Thinking my Risai bootcovers will have to wait for Sakuracon after all, unless I get mad-inspired.

Of course, this work week is going to be batshite crazy, so I'm not looking forward to that.  Productivity this week will probably be low.  T_T

I'm done with almost everything for my Raito kun! All I need now is a smashing red tie, and perhaps an apple prop.

3) Rave Outfit.

Rave? Is there a rave at KC, or is that referring to some obscure anime? ???

There has been a dark, neon dance/rave for the past couple of years, in addition to the concerts, so thast is probably what they are referring to.

Today's adventure-- pursuit of the green ribbon!!
I needed a green ribbon that would match Takano's pretty well and all of the stores that I hit up FAILED ME.  WTF?  That one JoAnn's is supposed to be a freakin' SUPERSTORE!  But you have crap for ribbon variety!  D:<
I was out in Beaverton today and realized there was another JoAnn's nearby, so I went in all casual, takin' my time, and the clerk's like, "we close in two minutes!"  And I go "AW SHIZ, it's Sunday, huh?  Where your ribbon at??"  and she points and I find the PERFECT ribbon in less than two minutes.

:D  Good day.  Takano is very close to 95% complete, son.  <3

Lessee, not too much more to do, I reckon.

Steps to finishing my Azul Cannon, which shall ideally happen by the end of this week:
1. Sand edges of wooden boards, which will build the bulk of the cannon, "the box", as I call it.
2. Paint wooden boards.
3. Create ventilation grids and metal patches out of craft foam and plastic sheeting.
4. Paint ventilation grids and metal patches.
5. Attach grids and patches to respective boards.
6. Paint hand wheels.
7. Attach hand wheels.
8. Paint cannon barrels.
9. Screw on handles to "roof board" of box.
10. Nail box sides together.
11. Insert barrels into box and fix with glue.
12. Create third barrel brace with craft foam and plastic sheeting.
13. Attach barrel brace to barrels.
14. Create "upper wheels" out of Styrofoam discs and plastic sheeting.
15. Paint "upper wheels".
16. Attach "upper wheels" to box.
17. Paint "rear wheels".
18. Attach rubber tracking to "rear wheels".
19. Attach "rear wheels" to box.
20. Find/create metal "rests" for bottom of box (to support weight).
21. Paint "rests".
22. Attach "rests" to box.
23. Add reflective tape to box.
24. Finished!

Oookay....I have more to do than I thought, lol. That was just for the cannon, I still have clothing to worry about too. Wowie. ^_^

Well the streak I'm not worried about since I can add that in later. But the unique orange coloration, mixed with it's short curliness is making it a pain in the butt to find this wig. My friend who's going as Miyu doesn't even need a wig since she has short blonde hair already ;D

Thank you for the luck, I'll probably need it :D

I've decided on yet ANOTHER cosplay!
I'm gonna try and attempt to do Miyuki from Lucky star in her Summer uniform since Nya-chan is going with a group in their summer uniform.
Btw what pattern are you using for the pleated skirt?

No, I'm probably going to the Joann in milwalkie, it's the closest.
Bias tape? Never heard of it. I'll ask if they have it. Should I use it for the sleeves too?

The straps that kept your shoulder pads/size G's, were they comfortable? I know you snapped yourself accidentally a couple times. I was wondering if it would be possibly to put some slight padding around the straps, maybe that'd help for the comfort aspect.

Oh, what did you make the claw out of originally? I may have some tips for you if you need help with materials. Like I said, your claw layout is pretty similar to the gauntlet for my 2006 Vincent Valentine.

Ooh, yeah, craft foam is kinda iffy, sometimes it works well with paint, sometimes it doesn't. For a firm claw, I used plastic sheeting, which I always get from U.S. Plastics. Plastic sheeting is good for almost anything. I am still using the stuff, just on the cannon this year. But that plastic works really well for making sturdy claws. Here is the tutorial I used for guiding me through the process: http://amethyst-angel.com/armormaking_vincent.html.

Basically, for the most part I think the tutorial could apply to your costume as well, even though it's for Vincent.

Let me know if there is anything you need cleared up or a more hands on approach with.  ;D

Has anyone here had any experience with dying wigs?? I'm not sure if it's better to dye it using the sharpie method, or to just hand-color it using sharpies.

wow thanks the only question I have is if I could get the plastic in a store not online?

I tried to find it in a store initially and had zero luck. I tried craft stores, hardware stores, and hobby stores but could never find it. But the good news is that that store is pretty prompt about shipping. I mean, it's a risk you'd be taking, but they always tend to get the product out to you in about a week, so that should leave you time to work on it. But I know finding it in a store would be much simpler.

**Okay, you're in luck! I just found a local shop that sells plastic sheeting. http://portland.lairdplastics.com/. It's in SE Portland, but hey, you won't have to ship. ^_^

portland >_< that is too far away. I guess I'll just order some. I'll wait till I get my paycheck. I wouldn't mind trying to get this done before the con but I don't think it is going to happen. I'll try though
