I was thinking about getting new belts for my Artwork Bridget costume but I decided I'm lacking funds so I'm going to snip them off and glue them back together nicer so Buri is at 98%. Also the flipflops I wore at Sak hurt and gave me blisters and didn't go well with the costume so I just bought these to add to my PJ Buri:



So cute~ I needed new slippers anyways.

Has anyone here had any experience with dying wigs?? I'm not sure if it's better to dye it using the sharpie method, or to just hand-color it using sharpies. 

From what I remember reading, hand-colouring it with sharpie might result in bleed-off onto your costume.  It sounds like the sharpie/FW Ink methods work best.  (I keep meaning to try it on some extra extensions I have, but never seem to find the time.)

I have ... way too much left to do.

Miranda:
- sew snaps onto back of dress (because I gave up on buttons for Kcon, no time!)
- add white collar to dress (which includes figuring out how to do it, exactly)
- hem dress
- hem/cuff/button/whatever sleeves
- find snood (or, failing that, alternate bun cover) because I don't want to buy a wig I may never use again ... though I could probably attack my hair viciously with a curling iron and fake the bangs?
- make-up test

Risai:
- buy corset lacing
- draft muslin pattern for obi from corset
- make obi; freak out about messing up somehow
- seal resin for belt fittings
- paint belt fittings
- attach belt fittings to leather strip (and figure out how to fasten that)
- remake skirt-ish thing
- make bootcovers (time permitting)
- make pants (time permitting; stunt pants will work too)

Unohana:
- pack up Minazuki (and jian for A-san) and post to Seattle THIS WEEK
- wash out wig
- restyle wig

I did, however, finish the clock key for Miranda this weekend, and do the hopefully-final round of resincasting for Risai's belt -- and I have the dress with me here at work, because one might as well handsew snaps over break. :3

Yes I did ^_^ It was a little expensive. I only got one sheet (40 x 72 inches is a lot and should be enough) How much did you get?

When I made my gauntlet I ordered one sheet of the .020" thick plastic, and it lasted me two years worth of Kumoricon, heh. I just had to buy more for this year (which I am going through much quicker than before, I am actually having to get some more or use some of Kahlan's).

I got the .060 thick stuff and i think that should be good enough. If it is too thin I can always double it, but I'm sure it will be fine. How did you cut it? With scissors or what?

.060 should be pretty nice for your purpose. It is pretty heavy duty so I doubt you'll have to double-layer it, but if you do you'll have plenty to work with.

I cut mine, which was thinner but not by much, with regular scissors. Kahlan ordered some .060 and she has been able to cut that with regular scissors as well.

Alright I work on sharpening my scissors before it comes because its hard to cut through cardboard with them v.v I'm not sure if I'll do more than the claw or not. If I do it will be one piece on the shoes, and the back of the shoulder armor.

owwie! i hurt my ankle yesterday riding 4 wheelers. i went up a small hill really fast as caught a little air(wee!) but when i landed i hit my foot down on the side boards too hard. it hurt a bit after wards, but then it went away. it just started hurting alot. i think its because i walked alot today. man i hope it get better by the con...i also tripped over a curb yesterday and got a scrape on my knee. i hope that heels...and i have a big bruise on my shin from tripping over a stool in the library on saturday.

but on the brighter side of things i got my bunny slippers for misha done =D

It was just craft foam but that didn't hold the paint well....and I would love to hear your tips.

For future reference you should put a few layers of modge podge on top of the craft foam, and that will hold the paint and make it more durable . Its what I used before I spray painted my bird head for Neuro:

My wig came in the mail this morning! >w< It looks awesome! Now today I'll have to get the stuff to dye it.

Has anyone here had any experience with dying wigs?? I'm not sure if it's better to dye it using the sharpie method, or to just hand-color it using sharpies. 

In the past when I've dyed wigs I've used Copic markers (I havent used sharpies) and they worked out WONDERFULLY. Just dont forget to soak and rinse it after coloring or it might stain your skin/costume. If you are wondering how it lookds, I dyed the bangs/tips of the wig in the link above with hand-coloring (which is VERY time consuming. If you are doing a full wig you may want to try the other method.)Good luck with your wig! Styling wigs is always my favorite part, haha.

I remade the rat tails for Albel. Now they don't have the wire in them and move much easier. They are a little more floppy than I would like but it still looks much better than before.

I getting most of the claw cut out on paper so all I have to do once the plastic gets here is cut it out and glue it together. I wont have to do any guessing or measuring.

Went shopping for my Kaiji outfit today. Picked up a pair of jeans (I seriously owned no jeans), a pair of white tennis shoes, some blue dye for said shoes, and the material to make RPS and E-Card cards. My hair's already dyed, and I've got the jacket. All that's really left is to make the emblems and cards.

Finally making progress on that commission of mine~  I cut out the fosshape needed and stuck the styrofoam on a skewer to hold it in place while it gets carved down.
Oh props.  Such a hassle, but I love you so.

After the styrofoam gets shaped, I'll flatten and stiffen the fosshape, stick it in the styrofoam, and cover it with air-dry clay.  Three days, and the clay will be dry enough to paint.  Then it will be done.

I wish I could say that about my costumes.  ;-;  Probably dropping Misa to make time for Mana, if only for this con.

The brown ones are the normal school girl shoes [/bought at goodwill]
or should i wear the heels? There slightly hard to walk in but she wars black shoes...

Also I'm using this gold for the ribbon which i so happen to have. ^_^

I think that the skirt is a little too long but it is something that is easy to fix. As for the shoes I like the heels but keep in mind you are going to be walking a lot so wear what is comfortable.

My wigs are coming in on the 15th and my bear slippers just shipped out and should be here no later then the 21st.
I went out today and found a bike shirt with a high collar and a skirt perfect for my Legretta costume. And I am starting the big over dress thing tomorrow :DDDD! Hooray~

Where would you be coming from? I bought a burgundy sharpie (such an odd sharpie color) at the Portland State bookstore not too long ago, but that is a pretty isolated location. Good luck finding that sharpie!

Im almost done with one jumpsuit!! I sewed in the zipper today, and it actually turned out beautifully! (I usually mess zippers up XDD)
Now I just have to put on the snaps, do the cuffs, sew the thigh pockets on, and hem the legs !
If I can sew tomorrow, then I can at least finish this one, and probably get the other jumpsuit to about 90% since now I know what I'm doing XD
After that I'll start on Leona, and see if I can finish that in time D:

My Sanji wig will probably come in tomorrow or the next day and I can finally start styling it! YAY.

As for my progress, I've been painting all morning and I realized something. When painting wood, one should always expect to use twice as much paint as they normally would. I totally forgot that wood absorbs spray paint to an alarming degree. I put a coat on and by the time it dries half of it has been absorbed, lol. It's alright, just a little frustrating when I only bought one can of this color. I just have to go get more though. No problem really.

But I am making progress, it's good to get this painting out of the way.
