I wouldn't mind if it was made quickly. That costume isn't the easiest one in the world and it is getting down to the wire. What they said is good advice and most of it was what I was thinking.

I wish you the best of luck and would love to see the finished product.

Here are my progress photos for what I accomplished yesterday.

The scarf:

I still have to paint the other side of it, but it will look exactly the same, the pattern is the same. And yes, it is supposed to be tattered.

The cape:

Again, I have to paint the other side of it, but it will be the same pattern. Both of these items were my first times with fabric paint, so it was a bit of a rough start, but I think it turned out looking pretty good. (Thanks to Kahlan for her help. ^_^ )

The cannon:

This is the beast, lol. It's not finished yet, but this is the bulk of it put together. Now that I see it all put together, I am thinking I did a pretty shoddy job on the external plates and grids. The paint just looks....eh *shrug*....it's gotta be good enough for me, heh. I am going to have to do some touch ups with the spray paint or something, because the wood has chipped in a couple spots already, but that shouldn't be too much trouble. I'm just glad to see it put together and sturdy. All that is left for this part is to put on some disc/wheels, put the handwheels back on, insert the barrels and it will be good to go. I still don't know how I am gonna transport it, though, lol.... ;D

Wow Eve I think it all looks great. On the cannon I can't really see the areas that you are talking about but I think the blue part could be painted a little better. As for the cape and scarf I think they look great. The paint job looks fine to me.

Yeah, I think my mistake on the blue part was using just craft foam, instead of craft foam lined with plastic sheeting. Paint just soaks into the craft foam too much and you can't get a metallic sheen with it, or you get too much of a sheen, but it doesn't come off as metal like it should. I may rework that at some later date, or if I can figure something out for now, some way to paint it better, I'll go with that.

But thanks for your feedback. ^_^ I'm gonna be so happy when it's all done and I can haul that big monster around, lol.

heh, yeah. I am just trying to think of how I can neatly place the right cuts of plastic over the blue foam. Hmmm....

I also think I just don't have the right shade of blue. It is too bright, or maybe that is the craft foam making it seem brighter than it is.

It could be that. And it doesn't really matter if the color is too bright. No one is going to carry around a picture and compare you to it.

I tried to get rid of as much glue as possible so it doesn't look so bad now. And the photo shoot helped point out that no one is going to see it. But yeah the nudges would help out a lot too.....and the pictures. Pictures mean its a good costume so if I get lots of pictures then that means I did a good job ^_^.....still don't know what day I want to wear costumes.....so far it is looking like
Friday (Albel)
Saturday (Temari)
Sunday (Temari in the morning then Albel the rest of the day)
Monday (Temari)
maybe I switch Friday and Saturday.....I don't know.

Let's see how I'm doing!

Inventory!: I basically got all the inventory itself, but I failed at making the inventory menu sign. Turns out? I can't make a blue gradient with acrylic paint for nothing, so it came out all splotchy, aaaand paint warps things. Lesson learned, I guess! I might just be cheap and use plain blue poster paper instead. HOORAY.

(Cheap, last day) Diddy Kong!: Woop, got the shirt done completely! Now I'm as good as doooone. I mean, once I finish the hat, tail, and optional peanut gun. -nodnod-

You could take a hair clip and tie a light foam ball or a bell to it and clip it to the wig hair or under the wig to the wig cap and that could work. Since tying it around your ear is most unbalancing and uncomfortable x_X
Actually, I'm being a lamazoid and using my own hair for this one, since I dont have time to get a new one... @_@

Aggghhhh, so I made a list yesterday of everything I need to get done (two costumes are commisions for friends)

Sanji-100%
Howl-100%
Gokudera-100%
Spanner-99% (waiting to add thigh pockets until I finish the rest of my costumes)
Tsuna-95% (Needs snaps, cuffs, and thigh pockets, buy black shirt and paint it)
Neuro-95% (Fix bird head, make deamon hand, add zipper to pants)
Light-95% (Find shirt)
Anko-80% (Make shirt, finish arm things)
Leona-50% (Hammer buttons on the shorts, make top, finish styling wig.)

Hahahaaaaaaaa ;___________; Luckily most of these costumes Im only wearing for about an hour during the whole convention, or this would be wayyyy too many costumes.  I best get working today! Im also lucky that some of these are one I made before and just had to fix up!

I have my good old Demon Nurse cosplay, just need to retrieve it from teh parents' house,  I planned to retire it since it's getting worn out, but it's kinda ll I have.

I could wear my Nataku (X) costume, but pieces got lost at Sakuracon 2007 and the earring broke!

I'm thinking of throwing together a Good Will Mikage (Utena) so I can fit in with  muh table mate, or a really weird ChuChu interpretation XD

My left thumb hates me because of all the snaps I've been sewing onto stiffened fosshape, and I still have about...5 more snaps to do.  And then redo two.

Well anyway, I have almost all the fosshape "skeletons" I need to do, other than the one for Mana's hat thing and anklets.  Now that I know how to do them, though, it shouldn't take too long.

Mana to-do list:
Hat thing
Anklets
Sew the dress
Sew the shoes  (Not a typo, I really have to make shoes x_X)
Cover fosshape skeletons with air dry clay
Paint
Attach whatever needs to be

Current percentage:  ~50%

Misa is on hiatus until further notice.  I may end up dropping her for this con.

@ Eve: May I suggest strapping the cannon to the top of your car, wrapped in several large blankets? That way it won't garner any legal or military attention. Gawd knows I may have to do that with my sitar.

Everyone's progress is amazing! I finished my Org boots yesterday, and all I really need to do now is find my other black glove and get a pair of shoes for the TB nun.

Yuffie's done! Yuffie's done! Yuffie's done! After nearly a year of work, Yuffie's done! Now to make a hip-pouch for my materia and my mini-fied Vincent. As the story will go, Vincent got hit by a Mini spell and Cloud's too cheap to give our group a Restore with Esuna.

I'm glad that you are getting some progress done. One very important thing is the money. Go out there and earls lots of money. If you family drinks soda you could also take the cans in. My family drinks a lot of soda and I get about $12 for the returns.

I bought bells for Peppita's shoes yesterday~ Super cute! :D No more then a dollar each for the big ones too! :D
I grabbed some belt buckles, and molding clay.
I'm a little nervous about using the sculpty... Do you guys have any advice on how to use it properly?
Its the kind you have to bake in the oven, and I'm scared I may do something that would make it crack or break easily.

It should be fine for Peppita's necklace. Just be sure to bake it with the holes for the chain and so on to go through. It won't work if you don't have that. It might crack, so you might want to make more than a few. You can make little extra stands to hold them up as they bake and then break those off and sandpaper to smooth it over - common thing we did with plates and teapots so they wouldn't stick to the kiln bases. But I'm not sure how the oven baking goes really x_X

I've got spider problems here- like huge spider- so I keep moving my Roxas wig since I don't have a wig head for him and trying to make sure a spider doesn't make it's home on it. x_x Think I'd be able to buy a wig head at the convention? I mean they sell wigs at some booths, so why not wig heads? XD;;

I thought of something for the shoes. How about uggs. I have seen some pink before and if you can't find pink ones there is tan ones and you could just paint them. The attach all the stuff that you need.

Mana skirt is done~!  Mana skirt is done~!

Now, I just have to make...everything else.
Hahahaaaa.

At least I feel way better than I did this morning about finishing.  No hope to gaining it.  My mom is helping with hemming and stuff while I work on the pattern for her top and lining the Magic Book, just because time is running short.

...So why is it that I can't think straight when it comes to supplies I still need for Mana, but I can think of every single thing I need to do for my next big project?

I would say this close to the con just use the safety pins, if you plan on using it again then get it fitted. You don't want to rush it ^_^

So...my friend got a book that says how to styl wigs, so that is probalbly wut im gonna do tomarrow, along with working on the metal peices for rikku, her belt(if i dont finish it tonight), and her goggles. if i finish all that then onto the rikku shirt. that will not be finished until like the last day before the con because of the metal things. they take forever, with all the coats of sealance stuff. and i entirely doubt it but if i finish what i can do on the shirt, then i'll start the shorts. why must i procrastonate (spelling?) so?

XD I believe I actually warned earlier this week to not procrastinate and boycot things!

I myself still have to fix my friend's shirt, which I will.... try to do tonight xD

Actually, looking at the Kairi dress, since it's so close to the convention.. Safety pin it in and, if you can, to your bra, so it stays up some.

Crunch time.  Am I done?  Not a chance!  This always happens ...

Miranda: got the white insert sewn in on the front.  Have to add the back half, finish sewing the dress, and then get a friend to help me pin the hem and maybe take it in a little, since those are both fitting modifications I can't really do myself (well, not easily).  Need to find my blasted snood, and maybe get a curling iron.

Risai: finished all the resin casting.  Sanded the pieces today, primed and sealed them.  Gotta add the liquid leaf (maybe tonight), antique them, and then add the white details before varnishing them and then gluing them to the belt.  Glue snap to the belt back, too.  Figured out how I'm doing the obi, but that's going to have to wait for later in the week when I have the space to lay out fabric (blasted house).  Given up on bootcovers -- I'll do those before I wear the cosplay again, when I've got plenty of time.

Unohana: washed and conditioned the wig today.  Tomorrow I'll brush it out and style it.  I still hate Kubo.  Minazuki should arrive in Seattle tomorrow to get schlepped down for me.  Otherwise, she's done.

Now I just have to hope I don't get mad overtime this week. T_T   And that my shoulder stops being a mass of pain.  Grr.

Today I did not get much done as half of my day was spent trekking back from Hood River in a car, a train, a bus, on foot, and a car again. By the time I got home, I was spent and didn't feel like doing much of anything. I did end up painting the opposite side of my scarf for Azul, though. So, except for adding some more fabric for length, the scarf is finished! Yay!

Tomorrow I will try to get some painting done on the opposite side of the cape. I have to wait and hope the weather dries up soon so I can touch up my cannon with spray paint (which I can't do indoors, obviously). I am getting close, though.

And no....my wig has yet to arrive.....darn you postal services!! *shakes fist*

Why not try painting it in the garage, or bathtub? At least in the tub/shower, you can clean it before the paint dries, and have the prop sitting on some newspaper on the floor to dry.

Curse you postal services! We need better - faster - guarantees on wigs!

I don't have a garage but the tub, that is a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion, Veraca. ^_^ We'll see how that works out tomorrow.

So, I was almost done with costume for pregnant Kurenai when my fiance told me that she does not wear the same dress(even though that was what I was told *tear*) Instead, I now have to go to walmart, get a pattern and fabric and make a new dress. Which is actually a much simpler black dress >.< I wish I knew this a long time ago. But, it's not very recognizable unless you've seen it in the manga. Its when she's at Asuma's grave talking with Shikamaru.

Ugh, and I need to make the green dress and get a wig for Mrs. Osono(Kiki's Delivery Service).

With 4 days until I have to be fully packed as I will be arriving at the hotel on Friday. I am really bad about procrastination....
