Any mac users out there?
« on: May 25, 2008, 12:34:16 am »
So I just bought a Macbook, and I have mixed feelings about it.

I've always wanted one because it's easy to use, has neat features and whatnot... but it's going to take some more getting used to, after using PC/Windows for the past 18 years. I'm a little sad that it doesn't support MSN messenger (makes sense, its for Windows..) or even gtalk.
I suppose it's good, I shouldn't be chatting so much in college.
(but still...)

haha, so what are your thoughts on Macs? : )

Well, I personally don't own one, but my school has them. Don't like them too much....Maybe it's just because I've used a PC/Windows my entire life. And, I wouldn't buy it because I live on MSN Messenger. XD

You just gotta gt used to them. Once you learn what all the keys are named and where th controls are you can do the basic Windows stuff easy. At my job I have a Mac and A PC because I do tech support for both. I actually do all of my forum posts on my mac because th PC has the customer databases and stuff.

My first suggestions is to buy a Might Mouse. Those are the ones with the omni directional scroll "nub" and the RIGHT CLICK feature. I know it's a laptop but still...... a mouse is better. Also, mak sure to update your software as soon as you install it, a lot of products right now don't support Mac OS 10.5 unless you download the updates thy whipped up recently.

Finally, make sure to download Adobe Reader 8.1.2
<_<
Adobe stuff needs the latest updates.

There's actually a MSN messenger for Macs but unlike its Windows counterpart it's buggy as hell...I've used it several times on Evan's Mac book and it always crashes on me >___>

I have a Macbook. It works, and it has taken a lot of getting used to, which I didn't really want to do. I can't talk to my work computer with it. I wish I had found a generic aka non-proprietary laptop. Oh, I have to buy an Apple printer, or keep going to Kinko's to copy my homework papers.

Also, the thing really pisses me off, in that I can't make what I am writing any larger, unless I increase the font. Damn thing is going to make me wear glasses if I keep using it!

I think maybe I should have gone with the Mil-Spec Panasonic in the titanium case that's PC based! Be like beating people over the head with a cast iron purse should I ever defend myself with one! heheheheh
Have Fun

I started using mac in college and now could never go back to windows. It took me a little while to use it, but it was totally worth it. The one thing that does bother me is that I can't game a whole lot on computer, but I'll survive...that's what consoles are for right? One reason why I stuck with mac is that it is fairly film industry standard and is company standard at the place I currently work at. Even so I can't see myself as going back. I've tried using my parents comp and I have no idea how to use it  ::)
