Cosplayers on Ice!
« on: June 04, 2008, 01:03:33 am »
Hooookaaayyyy Yeah you people are getting tired of me I know. -winks-

Hokay here is the idea, I have already run this by a lot of people. During KumoriCon, at a time when people are mostly free, for about an hour or two I wanna gather a buncha cosplayers and head into the Lloyd Center Mall.(So hard right? XD ) I want to do... dun dun dun COSPLAYERS ON ICE! This is REALLY REALLY easy... just bring a pair of socks, and about fifteen dollars(JUST to be safe).

I will be bringing a camera to this folks, and I would love to get as many cosplayers as possible on the ice rink. Just to goof around and stuff, if you do not know how to ice skate, and are wearing a delicate cosplay PLEASE DO NOT ICE SKATE. I don't wanna seem mean or something, but I don't want to see someone crying over a broken cosplay piece, or get upset to the point of needing to be pulled outta the mall.

Those that DO know how to ice skate, I would love for you to help those that don't.(Like I personally don't, but apparently its very similar to rollerblading(which I am very good at)) Soooo yeah... its a simple event, a tiny meet up at con. I was thinking it could be on Sunday even, maybe around noonish, if things allow. So help me out folks, what do you think?

Oh no way!  That actually sounds really cool...though I've never ice skated myself, it sounds like a fun idea.  My costume wont be all that "delicate" though, so I should be alright.

Maybe.  Sunday would be the best day, since everyone will have already been there for Saturday, and wont mind missing a little bit of the con.  I know I was wanting to go see a little bit of P-town while I was there anyway.  Great idea!

Or for a last Resort Haku(NarutoXD)... but yeah xD I so wanna do this because it would be kick ass awesome. Afterwards we could hit Anzens.(A small oriental foodstore in portland, they sell Bentos, and Ramune. OH and Giant Pocky!)

O.O GIANT POCKY?! I WANT GIANT POCKY! Depending on what time we go I may not stay for too long. Also most of my costumes have no pockets so I would have to have a friend along carrying all my stuff.....come to think about it neither one of my cosplays has pockets. I guess I'll have to have a junk buddy the whole con ^_^

I think that even if we did talk to security they still wouldn't let us. It could be very dangerous. Why is it that all the fun stuff is dangerous?

If I do go I need to make the cloak that Albel wears.

It wouldn't be too hard. I would love to mess with the feathers. If I could I would try to get black feathers with blond tips.

If we could bring weapons I'd totally bring my sitar on the ice with me just for the hell of it... Or even better, I could wear my UATBN (undecided artbook Trinity Blood nun) so if I fall down you guys won't be able to find me!

Of course, if I tried spinning, toe-loops or anything else particularly fancy like that I'd probably end up flashing people because my petticoats will all fly up... Yeeeeah, Organization it is.

It's not too hard. I had a hard time the first time I went (around age 7) then I took up roller blading and the next time I wasn't bad.

I think once we get a little closer to con date, we can set up a time to go Ice Skating. But may I suggest staying away from the Rock-n-Skate? All the little punks like to come out on friday nights and skate to their rap music, lol. Maybe during the earlier parts of the day when they aren't doing lessons. Once the schedule book comes out, it should be easier to gage a good time.

Oh I don't know.  I think it might end up being fun that way.  A bunch of em would be all makin' fun of the younger con-goes, then a few of the bigger, tougher, (older) guys would roll up, looking all threatening an such.  No actual violence or anything (unless they start it of course, gotta remember your ROE's) but just all intimidating.  ;D

Yeah yeah, I'm just kidding, don't get upset mods.

Nerdly Cosplayers vs Portlandian Punks? I think we could take 'em  :D (Jk of course...) This sounds like noodles of fun, plus I've already talked my friends into it. Admittably it didn't take much; I mentioned Cosplay on Ice and they were sold  ;D We should probably do this during a lull at the con, when not much is happening.

Maybe if there are enough of us, and if we pester the Ice Administrators, they might even play anime music while we skate  ;)

I agree that we need to do it when there isn't too much going on at the convention. Also maybe around lunch time? I'm sure there wont be many places at the hotle to get food (one if any at all).

Honest? With what?  :D I feel you though, I can't get a job right now either, perhaps because I'm only 14 (but I'll be 15 by August darn it!). I've had to resort to saving all the money I've been getting from people, but I have $200 now :) My birthday will probably be a nice source of income too ;)

I was wondering, how much money do people usually bring to cons? This is my first so I have no clue @_@ I've heard some things about dealers rooms in general though, and I must say, so much anime merch crammed into one cozy spot seems like a dream come true. Where I live we don't even have a real bookstore, just a tiny one in the mall, with a manga section smaller than my pinky toe :'(

Aww.
The thing is that the business world is against real honesty.  My dad got fired from a car lot because he wouldn't lie to customers!  Somewhere he still has one of his training tapes that actually teaches the viewer exactly how to lie to sell a car.

How old are you anyway?  *checks* oh, you actually put it on your profile, cool.  Well, I don't see why it's so hard for you to get one really then.  But if I can be of any help at all, I'm willing to help.  Let me know.

I brought $300 last year and I spent every cent of it. I did buy my pass and wasted a lot of it on useless stuff, then again it is all useless. At Sakuracon I spent $400 ^_^. I am looking for a job as well.....I'm not sure how many times I've said that but it is true.

But seriously, getting out on ice with anime music would be epic-cool. Not to mention it'll be hot as hell... Wonder if they'll let me bring my sitar so I can kinda sit it on the sidelines so people can wonder what the hell is going on?
