ID Question
« on: August 14, 2008, 06:01:46 pm »
Hey guys, I have a question about check-in and ID.  This will be my little brother's first con and I'm a little unsure about whether he needs ID when he checks in.  He's 14, and will bring the permission form of course, but is ID also required?  If so, what sort of ID could he have?  A 14-yr-old can't have any government issued ID unless we pay the 50+ bucks for state ID (which seems kind of silly).  So should he bring his school ID or  ???  Thanks in advance!   ;D

well, I'm not sure. I was 15 last year and I don't really remember having to show my ID. It wouldn't have to be a state ID. just his school ID probably. I think maybe bring it just in case. I'm going to do the same.

School ID is fine for that age if it's photo ID.

I had a question. The name on my badge is spelled wrong and I am too lazy to send it in, will I run into a problem at check-in?
It's spelled Nicole, when it should be Nichole.

Ok, so school ID is ok.  Thanks!  Good to know!

Out of curiosity, what if someone of that age didn't have ID??  Like...home-schooled kids?   ???

Then they would need to get ID, even if it involves getting a state ID card from the DMV and paying the money. Home schooled kids need ID too.

I'm bringing my stepson this year, and he's 9, so he doesn't have any state/school issued ID. Is that going to be a problem?
(He does have an official Trimet issue bus pass with photo id on it...though)

Do I need the parental consent form too?

Well since he's nine you'll probably be with him most of the time so he'll be fine. Either way, a parent with photo ID goes a long way at registration.
"12 and under – Can attend all events that do not have an age restriction until convention curfew at midnight**, and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian paid attendee."

The teenagers are the ones that need photo ID, at registration at least.

Everyone that wants to be in the conspace after midnight though should have their photo ID with them. Gotta prove that's your name on that adult badge after all.

Thanks for answering my question Tom!
I wasn't sure about the rule for 12 & under, but you helped clear it up!
