Procrastination: The Art Of...Oh No, I haven't started YET???
« on: August 26, 2008, 05:08:08 pm »
Yeah, pretty much. Anyone else out there just starting and still putting it off? *coughlikemecough*

Well, I do my best work at the last minute, but with two costumes to build...hahaha, yes. Excuses, excuses. Come Firday I'm going to hate myself. Like every other year.

hmm well im in a rush right now but my friend is worse

i was on the phone with her yesterday and i asked who shes goin to be for the con and she told me Erika from Pokemon, so i askd to see it and she said she hadnt even picked up the fabric yet... course give her something she thought the con was next weekend.... if i hadnt of told her she would still be no where on the costume.... she says it will be epic..

for me im just rushing through the finishing details of my costume and revamping the great blue to that of a blue chocobo... (going to be a long 3 days)
returning with a vengeance to K con~

my costume has a lot of trim so I have to do a lot of work on that. resize a couple of things then I'm done.

For cutting and dying your hair, you could always to to a beauty school.. There is one by my house that does hair cuts and dies for like 2 dollars or something... but they are students so it might turn out wrong.. :/ its a chance lol

Well right now I have not received my wigs in the mail, so am not really motivated to finish. I man what's the point of wearing a costume when I don't have the wig   :-\

where is it? it's just a simple cut I need really. I have the dye to do it myself. I just can't cut my hair.

I'm finishing one up as I type (figuratively), and then I've got another to start AND complete by tomorrow afternoon. After that, I don't know if I'll have access to a sewing machine. XD

Good luck, everyone.

I wouldn't be so nervous about finishing if it weren't for the fact that work is doubtless going to try to kill me in these next two days.  T_T  I got so frustrated at my Miranda dress (and other things) last night that I walked away from the sewing machine before I just ripped something, and it took me about three times as long to style my Unohana wig as I'd planned (though that, at least, is done).  Other than the dress (which needs hemming, half of the inset collar, and sleeve buttons), I've still got a wonky obi, a skirtlike thing, and a belt to assemble for Risai, though the latter two should be fairly quick work.

So yeah, I'm nervous.  And I'm trying to leave Friday morning open to pack before I fly up, so I don't even have that in which to sew.

I don't have much left that I can personally do. That's actually a bad situation to be in, as I've got all the time in the world but can't sew or style a wig (which is what is left to do), so I have to leave it up to Kahlan who works almost 12 hours a day. I wish I knew how to do those things because then I would just finish my stuff myself, but yeah, that's not the case. So, I too, am in a way putting things off, heh. I think it will get done though.

I need to
*finish styling one wig
*mold vampire fangs
*Get black dress shoes
*Get make-up
*make happy berry clips for my other wig.

I'm not too worried but I need to finish them...

I've been known to show up at the hotel with sewing machine and fabric and finish assembling a costume within hours of the start of a convention...
:D

I am trying to AVOID that this year, but there are some things for my Cornelia (of Code Geass) costume that I MEANT to fix this past year, and STILL haven't bothered to do... so those are going to have to be handled at the convention. The funniest part is that the bits that I need to fix (gloves & shoes) are the SAME bits that I stitched by hand at the convention last year on Saturday night.

:D

This sounds vaguely familiar... ::)
Only in my case, it's usually done sometime in the wee hours of the second con morning. Or later. Depends on what day the outfit's needed for.

I'm trying to get more sewing work done before leaving home so the only things that need to be completed at con are things like wig trimming. My new sewing machine's heavy, and I'd rather not bring it, but the new job I started last week has eaten several days intended to be devoted to cosplay construction.

Ryouga (due Saturday):
- Make headband
- Pick up wristbands

Ashitaka (due Sunday):
- Paint sword and wrap grip (drying in the garage right now)
- Add cardboard insert to sheath
- Hem pouch
- Buy suede, dowels, and feathers and make quiver and arrows
- Re-wrap grip of bow (on ride from Seattle)
- Fix hand portion of arm covers
- Dye compression shirt
- Take in boot toes (ride down)
- Make small dagger
- Accept that chaps will not be done this con and set aside for Aki Con

Akane-as-Juliet (due Sunday night):
- Make hat
- Attach ponyfall
- Hem/trim Ranma's sleeve cuffs

Cardcaptor Sakura (Sakura, Syaoran, and Tomoyo, due Monday):
- Finish patches and sew on (ride down)
- Make collars and cuffs and attach
- Add waistbands and zippers to skirts and pants
- Make hats
- Finish staff
- Make hilt for sword
- Trim wigs
- Don't panic
