So that last picture is from the Executive Tower Salon right? Our new Karaoke Lounge?

Ooooh, a Karaoke Lounge with an under 21 bar would be so cooooool.

That would be so cool!

how are all you underaged people/groups booking into the hotel ?
isn't someone over 18 required to check in , let alone stay in the hotel ?

cause i've just turned 17 & the friend i want to get a room with is still 16 .
but already i've read lots of people who are younger than me saying how they got their rooms & so on :'D .

stupid question , y / n ?
i still need a answer xD; .

You'll need a credit card, which usually implies that you're over 18, but you don't have to be 18 to book a room at most places.

Actually, for legal reasons you do have to be 18+ at pretty much any hotel. A lot are even 21+. Best to just call the hotel and ask.

Adults are leaving their kids at hotels all the time. Call the hotel to find out the age of the person checking in and then aim for that.

If I ever get an appointment with the hotel for that tour I'll make sure the "check in age" is on my list of things to verify.

@ Tom .

yeah that would be handy ~ .
i'm now thinking though that we'll have my friend's mother/or my mother drive us there & have her check us in .
then after the con the mother can come & pick us up from the hotel which would solve the issue of parking i was worrying about cause my friend was planning on driving us there ( HAH , i'm older than her but she already has her license >w>; ) .

thanks everyone n__n .

no prob Kairi ^^ this is our first year with out the parents in the room too. Last year my dad stayed the nights with us but left during the day, this year its just us and he will only come to check up, or when we need someone to run the stand or make a dash for kinkos >.>;;

so I was having similar issues.... all in all wahts going to hapen with us is we strap my Lavi mallet to the top of the ski rack, then get it through the hotel, unpack, register (dad has to be there for that cause hes signing the contract for the artist alley tables cause none of my groups 18 yet) then he leaves and I have a HELL of a lot to do... >.> set up table, bring bags up to room, get in cosplay, change to PJ cosplay, then get ready for the Ryodans pre show... help set up game room, ect.... busy busy day... i feel sorry for the rest of my art group, i'm kinda going to be dashing around all con ^^;;

I don't think this has been answered, but I'll be taking the MAX, and was wondering the best stop?
I'm guessing the stop at Pioneer Courthouse square and then walk down Broadway Ave. to the hotel...Is this the closest/best???

Yeah, you can get off at Pioneer Courthouse and just walk up 6th ave several blocks and the hotel is right there.

Single rate mean 1 person staying in the room, double would be two people staying in the room and so on.  These rates are per night so if two people are staying in the room then you could split the cost.

As for room types:

Std King would be one king sized bed in a room
Std Dbl/Dbl would be two beds in the room probably queens but could be kings
ET Double Double is in the Executive tower across the street and would also have two beds. (These are suppose to be the nicer rooms thus the price.  I am not sure what they come with yet)
Run of house is what ever they have.  You could end up in any of the above, or a suite if that is all they had left.

David, it happens that I am quite allergic to feathers. Did I read your post correctly, that all rooms not only have down comforters (which could be removed by housekeeping and replaced by one's own sleeping bags from home), but also "featherbeds" ? Does that mean feather mattresses? If so I must definitely stay somewhere other than the hotel (wonder what's walking distance?). Or did that just refer to feather pillows (which again could be removed by housekeeping if needed)? The first night at the con hotel this year I was so tired I tried to sleep without checking the stuff until my allergies and asthma awoke me letting me know it was down/feather.

I noted other hotels in the area when I did my walk around. There's a small hotel just behind the Hilton but I'm not sure of the pricing. It looks nice though. Let me google it....

I was actually thinking of two! The Portland Paramount's a little more than a block away and currently overlooks construction, the other one turns out to be a restaurant NAMED after the Heathman Hotel that used to be there.

There's always Marriott! It would be like time travelling from 2005 to 2009 every morning!  ;)

How many beds does the biggest reasonably priced room have?

This was posted by TomtheFanboy but I miss read it and removed it.  That will teach me to read the fourms after taking cold medicen.  Anyways, the following is what he posted:

Quote
They don't have any rooms with more than two beds. Though the exspensive suites do have a couch.

I will however check to see if there are any cases they will allow a rollaway bed as most hotels have them.

The hotel does have roll away beds but I am still waiting on the policy and price to have that added to a room.  I will post that here when I find out the info.  If you have a speacal reason you think you need one, please email me so I can pass that to the hotel and they will let me know if it is possable.

Not bad in most areas. Doors will all be hard for you though.
I suggest avoiding the Third Floor and the Exhibitors Hall.

Cool. I'll really only be more like seven and a half, and only for part of one day (a photoshoot and the Cosplay Contest) so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Just an update for those of you who were curious.

In the video above where I look around the top floor before the March meeting?

The room with the bar at one end is going to be CCG tournament space and the big room with all the windows that we held the actual meeting in will be the Karaoke room.

I'm also told there is actually a public restroom on that floor as well, thank goodness.

I'm working on the new maps and once I've got them finished you'll see another update here. Cheers!

Cool, maps would be handy and the vids were a good idea.
Did have one question tho, if the parking garage is the dealers hall, then where's the best place to park?
I will be staying in the hotel and just like to park it and forget about it until the cons over.

I have my room now. The price is really great. Its going to be about $70 a night for five people, which isn't too bad.

We have not talked to the parking garages yet about official con parking but there is one in the Executive Tower across the street. I'm planning on making a research trip this Tuesday and I'm going to try and get the contact information for the parking garage companies.

Google, provides.  ;)

Just finished updating my small area map for the stuff around the hotel.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t16/TomtheFanboy/Kumoricon%202009/2009_small_area_01-1.png

The key will be published later. For now the yellow are food (or coffee or bars), the blue are parking, the red are hotels and the pink/purple are OTHER.

Nice I like it. Did you find out how much parking is a night? I would like to add that in with my total, so I can charge my friends >:3

it actually doesn't seem too fair to charge them for parking because they will not be using my car at all....maybe I can get my parents to drop me off and pick me up so I don't have to pay for parking.

I'll get the parking rates when I post my next youtube video.
(The latest one went up this morning, I'll be linking it later)

The Executive Tower has TEN FLOOORS of parking garage. Some of which is set aside for the hotel. We are hoping to make a deal to get a discounted rate for people that are with the convention.
Or at least with the convention AND staying at the hotel.

I thought that Part 2 would be up when I got home. Apparently it had an error in the upload at %90.
 >:(

So here's part 1.

Part 2 is better though. It'll be up soon.

We walked around it a little bit during the summer. It wasn't too bad. It seemed a little small but I loved the way the lobby looked. It was so elegant :3

Hey, Tom? Quick question. I'm possibly heading up to portland on saturday, and I'm going to go to the hotel if I get there. Is it possible for me to get a map of where everything is going to be according to the hotel? I like the video, but I can't get a good fix on where everything is.

Also, will there be a generally open space for people to lounge about in, romp around, that sort of thing?

Here is what the hotel calls all the rooms.
http://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/content/PDXPHHH/media/pdf/PDXPHHH_Hotel_Fact_Sheet.pdf;jsessionid=H3OGQHJS4Q2CCCSGBIU2VCQ

It's not an easy link to see in the first post, maybe I should bold it.

PS- Sorry I was so late in my reply.  :-\
