Alright, we still need a white king, a white rook, and six pawns of each.
If you're not a minion, ignore the next part, you probably don't want to know.
Dear Minions,
Following are the technical specs of board construction, so you know how to help me build when you come over Saturday morning.
The board will have squares of a two foot length, and a two foot width. This makes the chessboard be 16 feet long on a side.
However, a couple things must be taken into account. Since we are tying bright orange caution tape to crucifixion nails (no, seriously, wait till you see them!), the length of the tape should be a bit longer in each direction. One foot should be sufficient for a quick and easy knot. This leaves us with 18 feet to a length.
Now then, to define the board, it is eight squares wide, so we need nine lines of tape in each orthogonal direction -- left and right, and up and down. This is 18 lengths of tape, 18 feet long.
These lengths of tape will be measured and lined. Every single length will have a line drawn on it that marks the first foot and the seventeenth foot, and four lengths, the outer edge lengths, they will have lines drawn on them that mark the first foot, third foot, fifth foot... fifteenth foot, seventeenth foot. These outer edge lengths will be the reference points to place all the other lines of tape.
These 18-18 foot lengths will be tied to 36 crucifixion nails, one knot for one nail.
Then we wrap them up nicely so that none come undone, and very carefully hammer them in at 90 degree angles (can't go through all that trouble for a crooked board) when we get to the waterfront.
