Epic Props
« on: September 09, 2008, 06:27:33 pm »
I think my favorite part would be the props. I like them so much more than the actual costume and I seem to be much better at making them XD.

Well for Kumoricon 08 I went (for a small about of time) as Albel and he wears a claw on his left arm due to a burn he got as a child. I made that claw at least twice because I wasn't happy with the product.

I also went as Temari so I had to have the fan *points to avatar*

And now I am working on Kimimaro's bone sword.

And I wanted to know what epic props are other working on or have made.

I made all the props for my Bridget costume. I made a giant handcuff that fits around my waist that has lasted for a year now and also a yo-yo about the size of a dinner plate that works.

For epic props that I will be making Cassandra's sword and shield from Soul Calibur II for Sakuracon this year.

EDIT: Errr...next year.

hmm epic props huh? Well I'm making all three of rosettes guns (yeah she has three) and all three are slightly difficult to make ^-^;;

My other prop is going to be a mallet for levi, Lt really got me thinking, I want it to be epic huge (this year inspired me xD) and now I'm thinking I also like the idea of making the handel extendible... I have it worked out in my mind but it will require a lot of work >:3 Well I love a challenge!

And I'm still thinking of my third costume... makes me wish k con had four days though, one more cosplay <3

The most epic prop I can think I have done is Yuna's beginning staff from Final Fantasy X for last Sakura-con - oh my god, I nearly took somebody's eye out with that thing so many times! XD I was told that I would have to put cotton on the end of it or something in the peace-bonding line.
For what's coming, I can't think of anything yet - but I want to cosplay Dark with his wings one day when I get more money (cough-and a job-cough) - I'm planning to make those things about eight feet across, but I need some way to fold them in so I can navigate the halls.
 Any suggestions?

I have a pretty awesome looking Cerberus (Vincents gun from Advent Children), and a Dragon Buster (Lloyd/Rose's sword from Legend of Dragoon) that floats on my back, like you see all the time in video games.

Yay epic props! I, too, enjoy the prop aspect of cosplay more than anything else. Some of you saw my cannon at Kumoricon this year, my cannon for Azul the Cerulean. Well, I am remaking certain aspects of that so that it looks better next year and is more sturdy and durable. So, yeah, I'll have that again next year.

This cannon, for those who didn't see:

Lesseee.....next year I will be Angeal, so I will be making a buster sword. I also need to figure out a way of having it attach to my back. A harness or something will be good, I think.

I also plan to be Hellboy at some point, and that means making the Right Hand of Doom. That'll be fun.

Edit: Or maybe I can just buy it.......didn't think you could buy it, lol.

.....My computer is giving me a hard time with pictures. Not sure if you see it or not but it isn't showing up on mine x.x

I guess the pictures like to show up some times and not others because now I can see it

anyway i just went to Spirit Halloween store and bought a bag of bones then covered them with paper towels and used flour and water to get the paper to stick to the bone and gave it hat color....I tried painting it first but that didn't work out (ended up dissolving a lot of the Styrofoam) and I had to use clay to fill in a rather large hole and make the tip. Glued the bones together and I'm done ^_^

It may not be much of a prop design-wise, but if Code Geass can have its Pizza Hut, why can't Death Note have its Apple?

Well, Kahlan calls it a harpoon, I thought it was rather anchorish....so somewhere in there. It is very bulky like an anchor, but it is sleeker and sharper at the same time, like a harpoon. So I guess it is some anchor/harpoon hybrid......a harchor.
