I don't have a day or time but let me throw a date out there....this may change as well but what about Dec 13th? is it the second weekend in Dec and should be far enough away from Christmas to not mess up any plans but still close (I may be going out of town as it gets closer to Christmas so I was throwing a date out that I don't think I could miss)

Hm. now as for monthly meetups. observing the conversations that has been happening in this thread and entering some own personal input about structure I've come up with the following idea (please note that this is (as stated) an /idea/. That is to say that i do not expect nor do i demand that this is how things will go. ideas are subject to change at any time. I acknowledge in having this idea: a) that i think, and b) that the ground idea for this idea was not my idea and as such i have no actual authority except for those over my own actions. Now please someone count the number of times i said the word idea. lol)

1. Theme seems to possibly be a good thing in certain situations as long as it is previously planed upon and not a necessity, and that themes are simple and easy to go along with.
2. Structurization is important however nothing should be so ridgedly controlled as to remove the element of fun from this type of situation, as that would all around be a waste of time.
3. Meetups should happen in an environment as so that all those interested in attending may attend, (however it would also be nice for the sake of assessment and damage control to know approximately how many people will be there)
4. Location should be accessible to the generalized population of this boards sub-community (which would seem is the general portland area and a small radius around such).
5. (in my own personal idea) a consistancy with the date of the meetings (as weather and other events permit for some venues) would be best as to avoid general confusion. (an example being) the second saturday of every month at whatever location is decided upon for that month (that is just an example, it is not my place to state for or against the second saturday of every month, as stated this is not my base idea).

Alright, thats my two cents on how things have developed thus far (from the posts that had been posted at the time of me begining this). (if ranting idiots somehow manage to surive the landmine of disclaimers and self imposed discrediters then they have superior mental deficiency)

sounds good. having a consistent date makes it harder to forget. But that makes it hard if... say it gets cancelled because of another event or such, its a bit harder to reschedule.

So for the Christmas party Lloyd? I know there is so much more we can do but ice skating seems like the perfect thing for a winter holiday. I was thinking Dec 13 (a Saturday) anyone got any problems with this?

Woot, I really love Ashland. Ashland has a really beautiful park, with a stream running through it and a bridge, and there's play equipment too. I can't remember what it's called, but it'd be fabulous for an epic cosplay photo shoot methinks x3

Well, I wouldn't recommend going in cosplay, but if we wanted to do a Japanese cultural and art themed meeting, we could always go to the Japanese Gardens. The leaves will be changing color soon, so it will be absolutely beautiful I bet.

Depending on how people want to go, there's about a three mile stretch of winding road. It might be a good idea to meet at the zoo for people who can't drive and find people to carpool up to the gardens.

Then again, cosplay at the zoo might be fun!

The Japanese gardens are small, and I'm not sure how they would react to a bunch of cosplayers there. It's supposed to be kind of quiet, I think. Well, kind of. Traditionally there's a lot of drunken parties in Chinese and Japanese gardens. XD;

I think the zoo would be the awesomest thing ever. It's really calm and mostly just kids hanging around.

Not to mention a prime place to record skits and play in the grass area.

We can be noisier there, too. With all those little kiddies out, a few more grown-up noisy people shouldn't be too bad. Besides, we've never been disrespectful from what I can tell. I've never seen a problem happen with a cosplay group.

The Fall is a really great time to go, too. All the animals are out to play!

Anyone know when the baby elephant will make its debut?

We already tried Cosplaying at the zoo. It was fail. Haha. Plus, it's getting colder out, and if it's a crappy day, the animals might not be out as often.

It would definitely be more fun if there were more people this time. But I agree, it should be warmer, otherwise most of us will be cold most of the time. A picnic at the zoo would be really fun. x.x

as far as personal opinions go, I think that because it's getting into the colder season, it'd make more sense to find indoor places for the winter meetups,
such as bullwinkles, karaoke lounges, malls, ect.
then when the time comes around where it won't be raining and the weather is nicer, we can plan picnics and such at parks. XD;;
if that'd be good with everyone. :3
and I think having it in portland is the basic area, because everyone lives around portland, so the commute is pretty much even. -nods-

The japanese gardens would be a great place for a meetup, but I think it may be too cold by the time we get the planning done, so maybe we should wait for spring?
or we could try to go soon? but that might seem rushed. x3x;;

if someone would like to meetup sometime with me, we could exchange ideas and get some basic output going so we could start planning. ( :

oh! and another Idea that I just had:

during summer/spring next year, they always have those concerts at the zoo.
it'd be really fun to pack a picnic and attend one of the concerts in cosplay. :3

I'm sorry, guys, but if we could keep it someplace cheap, come to think of it, that'd be best. I can ship out $10 for an entry fee for the zoo or the Japanese Gardens, but someplace like Bullwinkles is too expensive.

Not that, you know, the picnics depend on whether or not I can afford to go. ^^;

I'm rambling. I'm sorry. If you guys decide on Bullwinkles, a great idea, really, then by all means! I just can't make it.

I have the same problem Lychee. But BestBuy was really interested in me and I'm going to my third interview this morning. The last and final one! It's only seasonal, but if I get the job and work hard, they might keep me.

I've looked almost all this year for a job and haven't been able to catch anyone's interest until now, but it's probably because the holiday's are coming up.
