Dream cosplays ... hm ...
In terms of viable, I very much want to eventually cosplay Ise Nanao in a formal kimono patterned after Shunsui's "hideous pink thing". I actually have the fabric (though I may change from habotai to crepe when I actually get around to it, if I use the habotai for other stuff), I've tested the dyes and paints to make sure the theory works (it does), but I just haven't had the time and the space to set up a twelve-foot-long silkpainting frame. Hehehe. One of these days, though!
In terms of totally unrealistic, I sometimes yearn to make Ichihara Yuuko's kimono with the butterfly-wing obi. Then I remind myself that I am far too short and round to look remotely good in it. In terms of silly, I want to make Medusa's pimpcoat from Soul Eater. XD That one falls by the wayside due to time right now, and I haven't found the right colour of snakeskin vinyl to make me reconsider.
I'm actually working on two of my dream cosplays right now:
1)
Tasogare no Kishi cover Risai from Juuni Kokki/Twelve Kingdoms -- linked because it's spoilery, if anyone cares, because that novel isn't in English yet. Risai's a dream cos because I saw that cover and, after a moment of incoherent "wait, WHAT is going on?!", got stuck on, "I could make that!" It's going to be a hell of a challenge, between leatherwork, bootcovers, distressing everything, and some interesting accident-victim makeup, but I hold out hope of everything coming together nicely.
2) Kaya Syokka/Gypsy Queen from Trinity Blood
This came from a desire to cosplay Toribla that was rekindled by some new friends, and is going to be its own kind of challenge, as that's the ONLY refence picture of her in her habit and one of three illustrations total. Detail vomit plus a lot of handsewing plus resincasting and making a ton of bias tape and grommeting until my hands fall off ... I'm not sure just how damned huge that skirt hem will be, but there will be full-circle petticoats involved ...
Obscure, once again, because she's novel-only and doesn't show up in the stuff released in English to date, but it'll be fun anyway.
