I don't actually want all anime music, more like 3/4th's anime stuff. If it's all anime it starts to get kinda boring after a while unless you have someone really good mixing it.

It's and ANime Convention...Anime Music is the best...Just get some one who can mix it awsomely *Wait grammer error*
It kicked butt when they opened up the dance last year with "Tank" From Cowboy Bebop Point is Anime Music Man!!!!

Like this year OPEN WITH "STRAY" from Wolf's Rain
YEAH THAT WOULD BE AWSOME!!! Or "Kesenai Tsumi" FULLEMETAL ALCHEMIST!!! Ya!!! Both of these are killer songs and I have them

hmmm well whatever you pick just don't it be as loud as last year....I want to dance not go deaf  :roll: But it'd be nice also if you don't do much non-anime music at least do some more slow songs...least then I have an exuse to keep BF from doing a disco-chicken like dance on the floor
 ......again... lol

and a sooner warning about teh strobes would be nice to those whom need to worry about it.

How about one of those crazy "jungle" shows? Like Hale or something.
I've never heard their theme songs but they're probably more likely candidates for conga-type music.

I'm trying to remember that song or title but I am not successful.  The CD I'm thinking of only has Dejiko's head and hands on the cover with green surrounding her and the circle she's in.
It has the songs "Morning," "Afternoon," "Evening" and "Midnight" and a few others.  By the way, this is by memory (which mine is down-right awful) since I don't have the CD case on me at the moment.

Just a good mix of anime and techno. At sakuracon last year they played R&B. Thats fine and all at regular clubs but that really has no place at an anime convention. ^_^ I have more then enough c'ds for a good mix for the con. And yes initial D music is awsome

Good anime music we can dance to right? No stuff like opening themes to animes like Sailor Moon or Cowboy Bebop? O.o Stuff where we can get our groove on, lol. Some DDR music is good to dance to too. Just stuff with fast and rythmic beats so all us anime fans can get crazy! ^_^

sorry I'm just a little obsessed with that movie lately... but the music rocks. Even if I know I won't be dancing I'd like to hear anime music, some DDR songs, at least an equal balance between those and other types.

Okay....here's my POV on the dance thing.....

Last year, the dance was okay, but it seemed that a majority of the music being played (at least at the beginning, or just the part where I was hearing the music) was popular American music.  Not that that type of music is bad, but if kumoricon is an even to promote asian culture (not necessarily just the anime, but their music (which is featured in anime as opening and closing themes much of the time) as well, perhaps we should play songs that are not necessarily completely only-anime, but other tracks from popular japanese/korean/lao/chinese/vietnamese/etc artists as well?  Like a mix of styles/genres/anime/ddr/etc.

That way, the purists who want at least half the music they're feening to dance to in a foreign language get their way, and the Gamers, and the congoers who only hear anime themes (and maybe don't have access to other music) get a little exposed to non-anime music as well.

Gargh....I'm not making sense.  ignore me.

@hikaru

you went to the dance last year??? ^_^ i went, but only stayed for about 15 minutes T_T i was with a friend's parents and it was her birthday outing, so we had to go when they go T_T but the music was cool when i danced ^.~ V even though it was only a little while ^_^

as for the music, i want mostly anime and j-rock/pop music ^_^ a bit of american wont hurt either, but i prefer asian music ^_^

« Reply #25 on: June 29, 2005, 07:26:30 pm »
Lots of Samurai Champloo. Maybe not the opening theme, but the end song and some others from the soundtrack would be great. It's mostly ambient techno, though one song is reminecent of just about every song Garbage has ever done.

My little subject line... at Sakuracon, they started out with this great Japanese song, them STOPPED IT halfway through to play "Blue". You know, 'I have a blue house with a blue window..." WTF?! Am I in Chicago circa 1996, or at an anime convention? I danced anyway, but still, I was enjoying the immersion.
You'll be loved, you'll be loved, like you never have known. When memories of me will seem more like bad dreams. Just a series of blurs, like I never occurred. Someday, you will be loved.

My friend is really interested in DJing for the dance. His music is featured in the dance game In The Groove, under the names Kid Whatever and DJ Zombie. The game is a DDR-esque music game, out in arcades (at Lloyd Center Tilt and Seaside) and recently released for the PS2!

You can hear samples of his work at http://kidwhatever.com

Hopefully a lot of you are interested, and if you are, say so! Check the site and check out In The Groove if you haven't already! :)

If you play the works of virtuously notorious anime remixer, beat fixer, and magnet to chixx0rz DJ Jinnai, it would not only be much appreciated...but your dance would be a felicitous environment of thumpin' bass, throbbin' rhythm, and floors more full than a rush-hour Red Line.

Keep it poppin, lockin, breakin to the rockin, however you do it, just don't be stoppin'. PEACE OUT P-TO-THE-DIDDY-X!

Do you know who the DJ is? o_o;
