Ordered my Kryolan skin paints for my bulbasaur gijinka! =D I'm excited!! The only other thing I need to order is red contacts but... I'm having difficulty with that b/c I have astigmatism and whoooooooo toric lenses are insanely expensive and they're difficult to find in theatrical colors. I had originally wanted to order the Red Wolf from 9mmfsx because they will make them for astigmatism and are a reliable bunch but... that's around 300 dollars... and I just couldn't get that money together in time.

So I'm trying to find another place that has red contacts (unfortunately I'm insanely picky and don't want BRIGHT-RED-ONE-COLOR contacts...) that could do it in my prescription or at least wearable for a few days.

To make matters wooooorse I found the most adorable pair of contacts that I'd love to have... but they're plano only... I am calling my eye doctor to ask questions about the contacts and stuff. Just getting it out there - there is nooo way I'm buying anything w/out talking to m'eye doctor.

So yeah, that's kinda frustrating b/c I really want the red eyes for Bulbasaur. They counter the green/blue tones so pretty... [/end progress rant] <3

I'm so glad that I have really really normal eyes. I've got a pair of purple and a pair of green contacts that I just bought off the rack while in Japan. Unfortunately, while I got a bright green one for my right eye just for the he'll of having a more noticeable eye, it doesn't seem to fit my eye. Which is too bad, since it was pretty cool.

sigh* I hate Zero's helmet/mask thing.

Here's where I was stopped in my progress with his mask:

I'm not sure what to coat it with. I'm thinking of a few things, but I can't get any of it till the first.

@boogiepop: I'm loving that dress. It looks really good on you.
@Hidamari: what anime is your icon from? It looks like a cute anime.

any suggestions on Zero's mask would be a lot of help. Thanks.

Bondo it like nobody's business. It's an auto body filler that comes in two parts that you mix together. The more catalyst, the faster it cures. Get a few good layers on it, sanding between coats, then sand it smooth on the final coat. Paint it with a black paint meant for car touch-ups, then go over it with a rag and auto body polish and it'll shine like the bumper of a brand new car.

Kuri, it wouldn't be particularly heavy. If it's light now, after three or four layers of Bondo it most certainly won't be as heavy as a chrome bumper, let alone a heavy backpack or even an ironing board. Besides, you're putting it on your head. Put a strip of foam in the top like a bicycle helmet and the wearer won't feel a single thing.

@boogiepop: bubble thingy? If you're refering to the purple visor area, um I'm working on that. Need to actually see if my forming will come out right.

@IcyMelon: I'll actually be doing Suzaku's knights of t he round uniform as well. My boyfriend will be doing Zero.

@LtCommanderRichie: I'll look into the bondo thing tomorrow when I can buy supplies. It might be cheaper thand some of my other idea.The others being wonderflex then friendly plastic or the plaster wrap stuff they use for casts covered with friendly plastic, or paper mache with a layer of resin.

You can put a flexible plastic piece in the ear and attach strings to it, then run it down a sleeve, and attatch it to a bracelet. I don't know what to attach the acctual ears to though. I may end up sewing them to the wig, but I wanted to wear them normally...

I finished the backpack for my bulbasaur gijinka cosplay!!! And for anyone wondering what's that glowing part - it's Solar Beam! XD The covering is removable so I can turn the light on and off and it's just one of those mini push lights you find at the grocery store. =) My favorite part of the entire thing though = all the space inside I have to actually store things, yaaay!

It is terribly difficult getting good pictures of something that is on your back... XD

I just finished the butt-pouch for my DGM 3rd uniform. Now I gotta finish the actual belt, then wait for my new stockings to come in, which will prolly be tomorrow, so I can put lace on them and FINALLY BE DONE OH THANK LAWDY.

Dreading having to sit down and just FINISH Maria, but that's part of the fun I suppose.

Break time is nigh, there was a Stargate marathon this morning and I DVR'd it. >:3

boogie - Haha, yeeaah, probably not the best place for a solar beam. There's always props for other attacks though! Ones that don't require light coming from where it doesn't usually shine. Your Victreebel is so cute though you could just use Attract and have everyone charmed.

Yes, leaves! The free and environmentally friendly solution to accessorizing your cosplay! =D

And I adore that bubble idea for poison, that is great! Especially if you put a poison warning lable on the bubble bottle! Like a big ol' skull and cross bones or somethin', haha, to distinguish it from the regular ol' Bubble attack. ... Y'know, I never really knew WHY someone spittin' bubbles at ya would hurt. o.O Silly water pokemon.

Purple would be easy enough to make. Just add purple dye to the bubble mix.

I've seen candy bubbles with a purple tint, but they taste like ass.
Also, Mei and I should get some WHIPS so we can VINE WHIP everyone at the meetup who's being a douche.
But not really because we would get kicked out of con.

To stop derailing the thread now, I need to get working on Victreebel again but homework consumes my life.

I made a test ear out of some scraps of fabric, and it moves just like I thought it would. Tomorrow I'm gonna make the real ones after I find some fishing wire. I also sanded out one of the beads so the hair will fit better, but I sanded on accident and made it bleed xD I think I will use gloves when I sand the other.

I'm almost done with my cosplays...All I need to do with Sven is hem the suit and style the wig; I decided that I wouldn't get Twilight Town! Roxas done, so I'm doing my own version, and I need a few things before that's done; and I just need to make Mai's shirt and arm warmers, and find a purple vest and I'm pretty much done with her!

So last night I realized just how close this con is and decided I need to get supplies and get my butt to work. Well... more like get my but covered. The skirt on my sailor scout cosplay now covers everything but is still really short :/ I know they are supose to be that way and my legs don't look long enough unless the skirt is short. Man, if I didn't feel like a dork running around in cosplay before I will with this one!
