Wow. While leaving me slightly terrified/perplexed, that definitely did the job, lol. Thanks. ^_^

Ah, sorry, Chelsea! But don't worry, I will definitely get things done by Kumoricon. Like PrincessMoon said, after Saturday, I plan to go full steam ahead into cosplay land.

Procrastination & mild temps led me to try on my Stella & Yuna songstress costume to see how they work. Surprisingly not cold.

I'm tempted to wear one of these (or Yuna-summoner) to the convention but I'm not sure which x_x; Stella requires a blond wig really and my hair'll be probably dark again by then. Or I can redye my hair a lighter brown to make that stubborn blond go away- but I won't cut it.

Opinions? Suggestions?

I wish I could say I made them but I didn't xD I tried to make the songstress last year and it failed epically. Right now, it's version is put together pieces bought randomly- a petticoat, the shirt's from eBay, the boots & the hair bit are from last year's version though =3 And Stella I commissioned from a friend, and boots were actually for another costume that just happen to work for 2 others xD;

hey, don't be embarrassed, I suck at that, which is why I had to order mine instead, which is what I'll be doing for the next con as well... Because I'm really bad at making things... But I will hopefully be able to make my weapon at least.

I wish I could sew good. I can sew minor things, but complicated things like all those ruffles on both those costumes would've driven me up the wall- just with the sheer math involved to get it right x_x Plus no sewing machine for me, so it'd be by hand.
Weapons aren't hard to make. That flimsy foam from JoAnn's + some wooden dowels in it works pretty well. That's what I used to make a keyblade for sakura- papermachetted it and all =3

very nice, this year, the weapon was easy. Because I just needed a wooden katana and that was about it (couldn't get the words carved in, but oh well) But next year, I need to figure out how to make the weapon I really want... But besides that, I can't wait to see your outfit in person.

I'm not sure which one of those two I'll wear, or even what day. *shrug* I'll have to wait and see once the schedule's out, but even then it'll depend on our group's plans... @.@

well, at least you have two outfits, so you can switch, as for me, I only have one outfit, which sucks for me, but next year, I'll have at least 2.

One is nice though. I wish I had just one like at sakuracon08- I just had school girl Kairi. It was easier to keep track of who is what day xD; I've got like... 5 costumes for this kumori.

you do have a point... I really do like the character I'm going as, and it will be easier, but it's also more fun to go as multiple things as well.

so after a week of being sick, moving stuff around after the brother moved out and havign to build the vacuum form box. THis is what we get:

other than the little gold piece on the bottom needing to be attached this mask is done. It took six pieces of plastic to finally get the dome correct, but so far I like it.

So in the run down:

Zero: 99% done. Need to take i nthe waist a bit more and add the little gold touch to the mask
Archer: Done: Needs the white strap in the front to hold the vest closed
Sesshomaru: Don't even want to think about it!

Suzaku: 90% DONE. Scrapped the home made boots. They were fug. The gloves have been scrapped too. I hate wearing them anyway.
Saber: 90%. Needs touch up to the darn armor badly. May forgo the boots covers again. Don't like my boxy ones.
Inu Yasha: 99% done may not take the big sword this year cuz its a pain to carry. Found my katana so I/ or who ever wears this may use it.

Issues it the wings.
A friend has decided last minute to go and has no cosplays. HE, yes he was going to borrow one of mine, but um all I have a re girls. AND I'm much bigger than him. It looked aweful on him. He may end up doing Inu Yasha or Sesshy and my bf may end up doing either or which leaves me having to make a third...unless he does kagome. lol
Sashys armor has not been made which means he may be left out altoghether. lol.

We shall see what happens.

All I have is Gintoki from Gintama, but hopefully that's all I need this year. The only problem's I have is that the costumes a little to big (but I can deal with that, no problem) and the wig doesn't look quite the way I want it to, but hopefully it will still look really good no matter what.

Hopefully gonna hit Joann's tonight and buy stuff for other peoples costumes (they will be paying me back though). I want to get my boyfriend's pokeball I'm carving him done this weekend and I need to do some dye tests for my friends costumes.

All that really needs to be done for my boyfriends Oak cosplay now is get a lab coat, get something to make fake eyebrows out of, buy double stick tape, and make his Pokeball. Oh, and style his hair the day of con of course. I'm going to make sure his hair grows a bit longer before con.

Pidgey ordered her hat. I'm going to help her find socks and shoes tonight.

Sandshrew ordered his pants and sweater. Those should be here on Monday for me to dye.

Jacuzzi's vest is still at zero :D

I feel like such a giving person right now....

Also, not really progress but I wanted to share me practicing makeup. I'm figuring it looks good since 3 of my friends did a little freakout after I sent it to them. Sorry Jameson >:

makeups fun, it's like what I did in Intro to Theater back in my senior year (http://jish55.deviantart.com/art/Intro-to-theater-makup-128796534) and I did recently put my fist to my face to see if the makeup was overdone, and luckily, it wasn't... but yours does look better than mine.

Well I guess that means it looks good then?
Ha ha, I kinda want to see a reaction of it in real life but I don't want any of my room mates to freak out. I've had this on for about an hour now though, I should probably call my boyfriend and warn him before he gets home.

@Leonmasteries- That looks really good too! And makeup is really fun. I'm glad I got to practice this. I want to go pick up some liquid latex now so I can practice some cuts and split lips.

nice, cuts are fun, but when my group had to decide out of cut's, bruises, and burns, we went with the bruises, and that's what we came up with (I loved volunteering for this, just so that I could walk around with a few bruises just to see what people thought and see their reactions) you should do that. Create bruises and walk around the mall or something with your boyfriend just to see what people's reactions are going to be.

Oh god, that would be terrible. I'm not sure I would be able to deal with people freaking out because I look hurt. I might try to score a photoshoot with someone for a beat-up version of one of my cosplays (prolly KoF, everything reverts back to that D:) and I'm sure whoever I do it with will want to go out to food afterwards.
Wouldn't that be a fun sight in a Shari's.

"Hi, may I have a milkshake? Oh, this thing? It's ok, I just got the crap beat out of me."

lol that would be funny to see... But I understand, I guess it's better if a guy did it... So you should do that to your boyfriend, and then go to the mall, and have him flinch once in a while when he's around you... Which would be funny as well.

I have a question for people. At the moment I am torn about some details for my kuja costume. He has purple sleeves under the white ones and the costume I got has those, they are sewn in to the top of the jacket and pull it down a little. The actual character also has little belts hanging off the back of the bottom part which the costume I got does not have.

Now the material that is used in this costume is going to be extremely hard to find because it is kind a matalic purple color. I'm wondering which of those two details is more important.

So here are the belts at the back and that is what the sleeves look look like
http://www.ffodyssey.com/wallpapers/ff9/ff9_kuja_1024x768.jpg

Sorry for the bad quality but this is the under part of the sleeves

And the back of my costume

So should I keep the sleeves or use that material to make the belts on the back?

I think you don't really need the sleeves, as long as you don't do a pose with your arms up to where your sleeve's go down.

The sleeves look fine to me. It's the back of your costume that I just noticed cause of the belts missing. Maybe if you can take the costume in to JoAnn's or something and request the fabric , then they can hunt for it for you or look for it in a catalog they can order from. They might have it somewhere in there stockpiles..

Keep those sleeves, you'll be raising your arms more often than you think. I don't really notice a difference between the reference's back and your back, so you should be fine.

I also plan on bringing down my Katsura from Gintama and Soren from Fire Emblem.  I will be wearing them at somepoint and letting my friends borrow them as well.

(A friend will be wearing my Soren as I am Elincia and so on)

So, I think I'm a glutton for punishment now - 3 weeks to con and I'm going to try and get another cosplay together. Sure, it's pretty simple but money is still a gorgeous[/sarcasm] factor with it. But we'll see if it pulls through or not, the trick will be staying within budget~! Hehe, I won't be saying just who my cosplay is yet juuuuust in case it doesn't happen. ^^;

Otherwise, sewing for my pokemon costume has been on hold due to family matters but I should be able to start again after the weekend, yay. =)

Meanwhile I'm absolutely in love with the song Mad Fantasy (Orochi Chris's theme from KoF). [/random tidbit]

We're so close to Kumoricon!!!
Montez Bailey, 1988 - 2009, we miss you, rest in peace.

!~~~No Kumoricon for me. See ya'll at Akicon 2011~~~!

Akicon 2011 Costumes: Genderbent Kim Pine, Marshall Lee

2012: YoYo, Czeslaw, ???

Alright, now my camp is over and Monday I will kick into full speed. my plan is to check out a bunch of movies on Monday, and spend all day watching movies and sewing. My "unknown cosplay" is turning into a "Known and almost done" cosplay now, so I will reveal it when the wig gets shipped, because then I know if I can finish it. On Tuesday I'm hoping to finally style Red XIII's wig (I've been putting it off) and get the ears sewn to it.

The only things I have planned that will hinder my last minute making is a camping trip on wednesday, and another trip on September first. Gosh I hope I can pull this off.  :P

Right now I'm waiting for my mail from Joanns for my 8 yards of white broadcloth and 3 yards of white taffeta for Maria. So once that gets here I'll sew like a madwoman and finish Maria, then finish everything else.

Also, waiting for the 50-page update of D.Gray-Man to get translated for inspiration to find and tighten my pants for Lavi and cut dat wig.

very nice, my friend ordered the black sailor scout outfit... But as for me, I can't take a full pic of mine and put it on the puter, because I don't have a digital camera. But it does look good, and I hope you all like it.

You have good taste in cosplay and good taste in art. I like your Klimt poster in the background ;)
I've only ever crossplayed so I seriously want to do a female cosplay next year. Hopefully a Sailor Moon cosplay myself. It always makes me happy to see a Sailor Moon cosplay :)

For my cosplay, I'm almost done with the Kusuriuri's kimono. I just need to add the collar which extends all the way around the robe. Haha. Then it's just making the tabi, finishing his mirror, make the necklace, and make the obi, and fix the wig! Then for my other cosplay, I just need to make a backpack and buy some jeans.

Ah, crap. I thought I was a lot further along than I am. Jeez.

Skirt, blouse, and tie for Hitomi are finished. Blazer is about 30% done, and I'll see if I can knock it to 50% by the end of the day. I'd like to get a new wig for her, the one I have looks like it'd be better for Sailor Uranus; too blonde and short.
Need to do some slight alterations to the Merle cosplay I'm lending to my friend, since the dress is already too big on me and she's skinnier than I am. Just need to take in the sides a little.

Also need to order a new wig for Akane, or get one at the costume store. Should head over there today and see if I can avoid having to order either of them online.
I'd like to try to get Ranma and Akane's outfits mostly done this week so I can focus on everything else. I'd really appreciate not having to do any sewing at con this year.
