Well been working on my Justin Law. I plan on doing both the regular and spoiler versions, switching off and on throughout the day.

Still getting the hang of prop making ^_^

Those props look promising, Huntress. Great work so far. ^_^

So today I got some significant work done on Barret. Did some painting of the gun-arm, added some final touches. If all goes well I should be done with it by tomorrow.

I also was actually up all night, til 4:00am working on this cosplay. I was cutting out the material for the pockets on the front of Barret's jacket, which I had not considered doing the past two years. This year, I decided I wanted to step the cosplay up a few notches, so I am adding these small details. It is going well so far, got the material cut, painted some bits and pieces here and there, glued some things to other things (this is all very vague because I haven't taken any pics yet, lol. I promise, tomorrow I will!).

Progress is being made! But why......soon I will have to play the hurry up and wait game, lol.

Actually, yes. That is what kept me up last night. Every time I would close my eyes and try to sleep, I would just have nightmares and visions of you stealing all my glory. I can't let that happen! haha, just kidding of course. We're a team, not competitors. ^_^

So, here's where I am at the moment on Barret:

Pockets on the front of Barret's vest (need to sew and attach a few parts.)

The gun (which is being painted as I type, or rather drying from paint)

After this, I just need to glue a few rivets to the gun, aaaaand seal it all up, and the gun will be done. w0000

I'm going to Joanns to look at patterns and such. Simplicity goes on sale tomorrow, so I'm gonna look at them today so I know which ones I want. Other than that, I basically have no progress completed.

It's my first time really dealing with multiple aspects of fabric work, so we'll see how it ends up. I've got everything mapped out in my head, but how I get that out and make it work....we'll see, haha

Well the cards are used to gain memories for Sora and to get further in the castle. The organization gives them to him by either beating them or sometimes they just give them to you.

Yeah....it looks alright just a little darker than I wanted. I am thinking about rinsing it out one more time. The picture I took make it look just fine though. Actually it looks pretty good.

I found brown hair dye. I can't afford a Sora wig, so I'm dying and spiking it. I hope it looks better than the pink, 'cause I'm stuck with it for the first day of high school.

Oh, and here are some pics of the gun-arm as it stands now. For now anyway, it is complete. I can't think of anything else I will do to this particular gun-arm, though I am still planning on getting the Rocket Punch at some point.

Thanks, Boogie! Yeah, when I was first making this in '07 I went to JoAnne's looking for anything that would resemble screwheads/rivets, and I found those buttons. I pretty much fell in love with 'em. I was telling Kahlan the other day, if I ever made a wardrobe inspired by Barret's gun, I'm using those buttons, haha.

Got all the stuff for Victreebel, and they had the fabric that I wanted still~

Not included in this picture is a yard and a half of heavy interfacing, zipper, and stitch witchery for the bottoms of the leaves. NOW LETS DO THIS. (10 1/2 days until I want this finished.)

Yeah, one WAS for the lining.

So, my pretty fabric I was so excited to use would apparently be terrible to use. I didn't bother seeing if it was a fabric choice for the pattern because I loved the color so much.
But luckily I can return both my yellow fabrics and have $30 to put toward whatever I end up getting. For future reference Jo-anns will take fabric returns over one yard.

I'll be working on my leaves this weekend now and going back on Sunday to find some more fabric. I'm going to see if I can get an employees help to find a nice fabric for the costume and see if I can get a black lining so if I decide to do that ever so "modest" pose in my siggy, it will be accurate on the inside too.

meh. i fixed my rikku ffx-2 wig as best i could with out having to re-do the braids. i think for next kumori (or sakura which evers possible) i'll get a whole new wig and style it myself... and it wont be from china! *shakes fist*. i'll try to post a pic sometime after the weekend.

It's not near finished yet but I got a little excited.

Working on my head leaf! It's a little annoying because I've got a wire running from the tip of the leaf, out the back end, and down to my knees for my super awesome vine. I had to leave the back open so I could glue in the wires but I like it a lot! I've still got to finish the back seam up (have to use fabritac to close it) and add the bias tape around the wire and I'll be done for the night. I'll be adding the little yellow thing that Victreebel actually had at the bottom of the vine rather then leaving it plain like the gijinka. The only thing that's really bothering me is it doesn't really look like a leaf unless you've seen the picture of her. I'm thinking of painting on some veins so it doesn't look so dumb.

Tl;dr How does it look and should I paint stuff on it too make it look more leaf-like?

EDIT: My fabritac EXPLODED. It wasn't very pretty, got all over my vine. Luckily fixing it is an easy task, just buy more bias tape and glue it over so it looks better. So that's all for tonight! I'm glad I already got so much done! On Sunday/Monday I'll be finishing it up and starting on my ass leaves.

It is a great start, Nikki. It probably wouldn't hurt to add a bit of shading to the leaf, just to create that illusion of indentation down the middle like in the drawing. Other than that, it looks good. You're doing great.

I just realized that all my costumes are done now XD.

I am working on remaking one of the kunai so I may remake a bunch of them. Apparently an exact-o knife works better at getting the right shape than a kitchen knife XD

I've never had to use exact-o knives, but they do seem really handy. I'm sure one would have been useful if I had used it when cutting through some of that thick plastic sheeting.

The knife was really handy when cutting out the blade, it looks so much better now. Once I get more money I will buy some more foam to remake the others. Now I am off to update my signature.
