I FOUND THE PERFECT SHORTS!
They're pink short shorts, and they go up to my belly button.
They're a little long, and a little small, but I can fix that.

NARG.

I'm covered in little white stringies and I hate bridal satin with a fiery passion now. Never mind the part where as soon as I'm done finishing the edge, I've still got to pleat the damn thing.

45 feet of white shiny evil. And I'm not even started on the ruffles for the other two parts of the petticoat edge. Never mind cutting that edge out of the bottom tier and not getting it to fray.

If you are speaking of finishing the edges as overcasting Richie, I feel your pain.

Also I'm SOOOOOOOO GOD DAMN CLOSE TO BEING DONE WITH THE DRESS!!!!!!!
I'm stay stitching in the facing at the moment (While watching amv hell 4 with my bf and roommate). I'll be finished in less then 2 hours with the dress, minus painting spots.

I'll get all made up and take pictures when I'm done

Been working on my bulbasaur backpack and I've almost got the inner structure finished, hopefully I will finish it tomorrow! ^^

Otherwise, my mind is going to drive me crazy! So, I've received somewhat saddening news that my other cosplay's (Suguru Fujisaki) group is having trouble getting to Kumoricon and, well, I don't really wanna wear it without them. So now my mind is trying to find an "emergency" cosplay 'just in case'. x_X; Which is hard to do when you're already stretched for money...

I'm just one of those people where having only 1 cosplay for the convention isn't enough, haha. XD

Boogie, I'm so excited, I can't wait to see the dress!!!!!!

I'm not going to overcast the edge, it's far too much to actually complete before the convention. The hoop skirt is roughly five yards around at this point, and I'm cutting a pretty interesting pattern out of the edge that would basically quadruple that length. No, the taffeta I'm using says it's 100% acetate so I'm gonna see what I can fuse to it to make it un-frayable.

Well I got lazy, didn't finish as much as I wanted to tonight because I'm afraid my tiredness will f' it up.

It may not look like much but all I have left to do on the base dress is actually hem the bottom.

Yay! I'm going to need sooooooo much fashion tape to make sure nothing shows though (I just wish things would stay put). The top is rediculously uneven though. I cut it really wrong, luckily the pink is going to cover that so I'm not going to worry about.

Edit: On second thought, there's still some stuff I need to do. one of those wrinkles on the dress is the facing like showing through and it's not straight. I might cut it and try to see what I can do about it. Also I'm thinking of ripping out and redoing some of my staystiching so my zipper doesn't stop at this one part. I'm also pondering making the bottom tighter. I'm really worried about the belt showing through though.

As for people talking about getting professional photos, if you are in the Eugene/Springfeild area I'd love to do some photo shoots

And I'm not charging as of yet, so free photos! I'll also be available at con for photos :3 I don't know at what time slots yet, but Im trying to figure that out soon.

I'm soooooooo close to being finished with the bulbabackpack but the fabric isn't laying right. D< I've been working on this all day (except for the times I slept, showered, and ate) and our kitchen table is showing signs that it is cosplay season! (aka: a sewing machine surrounded by piles of various tools, materials, and odd things)

Gah, why can't square pieces of fabric lay nicely on spherical objects? At least where the zipper is supposed to go??? DX

A problem that I shall tackle... tomorrow after I get sleep! >>;

Mei Long have you tried using leaf shaped pieces of cloth rather than square? They should form a more rounded shape than squares would. Whenever I'm having problems with a pattern I try cutting out news paper and pining it together to see how it works. That way you can make adjustments without worrying about ruining your cloth.

Soooo close to getting that darn zipper in... but I can't find the zipper foot. *slight pout*

However! I came to a relatively painless and swift solution to a problem that appeared today. So, the group cosplay is on hold until next year (or whenever we can afford all our relative outfits) but having just one cosplay all weekend is something that I have neeever done and seems like it would get... smelly.

And not cosplaying a day is out of the question, of course.

Then I realized I have all the fittings of one character I have yet to cosplay all because I can't seem to sew his darn shirt right. >> Thankfully there are 'artbook versions' that I could pull together. Include a Hakuryuu and I just might be recognizable as Hakkai from Saiyuki, heh.

Though... Majora's Mask is to tempting... I adore that game. >>;

I got maybe a foot and a half more pleats done today on Maria's petticoat edge. Ten and a half feet left to go. D: if I can wake up early enough I'll just sit myself down on the couch with Law and order as background noise and pin for several hours.

Other than that, I'm reduxing my 3rd D.Gray-Man uniform so it looks quite a bit better. Making a belt and pouch combo that looks a little more like Lenalee's, putting a few darts in it so it fits a bit better and dying my pink skirt red to match more of the art. I also started the undershirt and gloves. Got one glove done, one glove left, and then the shirt. Ordering a new pair of thigh-highs tomorrow too, and probably my gloves for Deke while I'm at it since they're both gonna be from sockdreams. Also cut more bangs into my wig, since the last ones were too wispy. I gotta have everything perfect for this photoshoot, srsly.

Considering repainting my anklets, but that would be too much work.

Ah, I think I'll get started on costume stuff again in an hour or so.
I'm planning on washing out my White Mage wig tonight so it's all lovey smelling and soft. Besides that I did receive some awesome so excellent thigh highs from sockdreams.com. They're a lot better then the socks I ordered from ebay since they are not for tiny Asian girls. These don't dig into my thighs at all~ I'm so excited to get new triangles on them.
I also had some extra money so I ordered this lovely eyeshadow set for my cosplays. I don't really go all out on makeup except for cosplays and big events (like a dance or something) so I thought it would be a good investment and would last a long time. I'm excited to see what cute things I can do to my eyes with the yellows and greens for Victreebel.

Okay.

So I was visiting some old friends in Berkeley, CA, and since we had time to kill before my flight departed, we hit some thrift stores in search of: A tie, a camel-hair coat, a brown-pinstripes dress shirt TO MATCH a pair of dress pants I had in Oregon, and props. Specifically, a sonic screwdriver prop. I didn't expect to find anything, but I went along with them because I didn't have anything else better to do.

HOLY.

SNAP.

I found: Almost the exact tie I was looking for, the most gorgeous coat (it comes down nearly to my ankles, and billows impressively to boot!), and a dress shirt with slightly brighter colors than the dress pants. No sonic screwdriver, but ThinkGeek will save the day.

All in all, the entire Kumoricon experience (sans booth expenses, as those can't really be predicted,) will cost me about 63 dollars. Forty for pre-registration, fifteen for the screwdriver, eight for the dress pants and white dress shirt (purchased in Oregon) and three for the tie and coat (purchased in California.) The tie, which is exactly what I was looking for, and the ankle-length camel-hair coat which there is absolutely nothing wrong with. Three dollars.

IN OTHER NEWS MY FINGERS HURT. I just finished turning fifteen yards of evil white satin snake into five yards of pleated behaving snake. Oh lord it's a beautiful sight.

I've also had numerous adventures in RIT dye today, including putting too much black in a dark red mix and getting a terribly brown-red skirt, stinky stinky stinky RIT dye remover that turned it a light yellow, and then really really really hot red that made it the perfect shade anyway so I suppose I'm good.

I also made two gloves, I'm about to order a pair of gloves and a pair of stockings and I could get started on the ruffles if I wanted to but I've got an undershirt to make.

Why am I doing this all so fast? Because I'm going to Missouri in two weeks. : D

Also good, on University Blvd. - 1600 University, to be exact - is Out Of The Closet Retail. They're both great, but I found tie-and-coat at the ~~Flea Market~~ Cancer Society, and I'm a ditz. It's best to go on the weekends.
