Wierdest thing about cosplay for me, I have my ears pierced, is characters who only wear one earring...
It feels odd.

Yeah, the mask really looks better in person. I don't have a high quality camera to get an awsome picture of it. I wish I did. Here's a shot of the forehead though. See? It haaates my camera xD;

Ah yeah it being faded helps... You could do a second bath of dye for just the ankles and see if it at least blends better, but you're right about Bulbasaur being mixed shades anyway. Hmm, I think ankle would be too short cause then you -would- loose some of the green/blue transition. Maybe capri, or something just a tad longer than the knee would look good =3 You've certainly got the hips & shape to pull off that kind of look I think.

True.. If You don't want the holes in your ears, then don't get them. I got my right ear pierced when I was about 9, and it was one of those LOUD as thunder guns x_x; Freaked me out. I didn't get my left ear pierced until the summer I turned 11 I think... Only cause I was tired of people going "you lost an earring" -_- To my left ear. Helloooo it's a BIRTHmark. Now I get people going "you lost an earring" -_- "hole above the birthmark, stop it". *grumbles* I just can't win with these people. But I've taken and fought with my holes enough that they don't get irritated or infected anymore, and I can not wear earrings for a good two or three months and the holes don't close =3 My mom has terrible luck with piercing her ears xD She's given up. They keep getting infected in the first month. I think she forgets all the hell I went through when I was a kid about the infections and how I had to keep taking care of them. It's a -lot- of work you don't expect. Think of it like a puppy- you've got your work cut out for you 24/7.

^_^ And I prefer just an earring in my right ear only still. If they're in my left it just feels odd XD I'm still not used to it. It's like I EXPECT it to be in my right, not left.

My sister has super sensitive skin and we got her ears pierced but she was allergic to the metal they used. Her ear lobes literally started 'melting' or that's that it looked like.
She can only have nickel free earrings. Not silver or gold or anything else...
We learned that the hard way. XP
I remember being so scared when I got my lobes pierced, ut it wasn't so bad, I'm just terrified of needles, and then a couple years later my bestie convinced me to do what I really wanted to do: get my cartilage pierced. And she bought me the piercing for my sixteenth birthday.
I really like it. I might stick with what I have now, at most I am getting three more on my ears, but sticking to ears. I don't like body piercings.
I miss 2010.

Kumoricon is usually a little on the warmer side, last year it rained, but it wasn't freezing at all [like it is here in northern california!]
So I vote you make them into shorts  ;) either at the knee, or a little below it.

Veraca - I can see the details a lot better in that picture, it looks really great! ^^ And, I wasn't really thinking capris or anything, that'd feel too odd.

Thanks for ya'll's input, it's been of help. ^^

Demon- aww that sucks. I've got hyper sensitive ears too. Hydrogen peroxide is my friend. Silver, nickle, sterling silver even... they all gotta go xD My ears hate them. I need gold. Sterling silver covered in gold doesn't work either x_x; I've got I think... maybe 4 earrings outta my like 50 pairs that don't irritate my ears. All the rest I have to clean my ears or can't wear longer than a day- which I like to leave them in for a good week or so at a time when I do wear them.

Mei- x_x Yeah you can see the details better in that shot, but it doesn't do the mask justice at all. URGH freaking camera.

I was in a jacket made out of fleece for Kumo last year. It was hot to me. XD

@ Mei Long BTW: I think I'm the only one, but I like the pants. As pants. The whole green to blue fade is cool.

Also, that vest is awesome.

Ah so got my leaves a little more done. I have the first set of wire tagged down into the leaves. I just have to put the large wire down the middle now and glue up one side of it. I still need to figure out what fabric to make the belt out of though, hmmm, I'll ask some joanns ladies tomorrow.

Also off topic, but my boyfriend just turned to me and told me he wants to have his cosplay name be SailorMoonxHe-man, and he wants to cancel our cosplays make a cosplay of He-man dressed up as Sailor Moon....

I'll admit I laughed.

A lot.

Ordered fangs for Victreebel, working on the leaves still. Second wire frame is in now. All that's left is to close up one side of it. I can't make a belt for the leaves though so I bought some big snaps that will hopefully keep them on my dress.

Aw, shoot. I wish I knew you were going for that. Hot topic is selling scarecrow brand fangs. I have a pair, but since my teeth are huge, I'm going to try and refit them. The fangs there are the small vampire type, and I don't know how'd they go with bottom teeth if that was what you're going for.

They also have white face powder, too, if anyone needs it. I need to pick up some myself, but does anyone know if it's worth it? I don't want to waste my money if I can.

I bias taped all the stuff on my sleeves. I'll post it soon. I need to do some ironing \before I can fully attach everything. And I need more bias tape. Six packages down, two to go?

Got the hat done for my unimpressive other cosplay, too.

I don't know if I'd trust Hot Topic with that kind of stuff...I'd say look around at costume shops and maybe even try to find theater shops, they would be good places to find face paints and stuff.

btw, what are you planned cosplays for this year? I know that you're doing the Medicine Man from Mononoke...Any others?

Working on my Mai shirt...It's being difficult. Though I guess it doesn't help that I'm sewing it all by hand ^^;

I've been trying to sew Red XIII's belt for the past hour, but the synthetic leather is being rather difficult. I only have an eighth of it sewn.
I have enough supplies to last me another week or two so I won't have to walk anywhere this week. It's supposed to be up to 107 degrees  this wednesday O.o

Went and patched up most if not all of the dings I could find in my sitar today. Also contemplated doing a human-form Transformer today, then immediately slapped myself and said "No, there's too many to choose from and not enough time to make it" and left it at that.

Hm, a Humanized Transformer...That'd be cool to see! Though, I agree. There's only a month left before con, and adding more when your current ones aren't done, isn't the best idea...

Though, glad that you've fixed your sitar!

Um, I don't think they do, except at like Halloween. But you could always look. I have some face paint, and I live very close to party stores that would sell it. If you want, I could buy the color(s) you want, and you could just pay my back.

For Fred's and stuff for paints, check the kid's section. You might even find that the lil girl's face make up and stuff might work. Maybe. It's worth a look.

x_x Sewing by hand isn't fun. That's how I have to do my costumes. I tried to sew Soul's red pants by hand. Finished them but somehow - even though  I was using pants too big for me - as a base, they still ended up too small in one thigh and then the zipper was like "freak you im gonna be hard" -_- So my mom gave me some jeans that are a pretty good cut, and I'm gonna go get some RIT dye remover tomorrow maybe....

If I tried to dye them red first it wouldn't look right I don't think... Maybe. I do have two boxes of the dye. I'll try it maybe...

Yeah. Mainly I'm only hand sewing Mai's top, because I'm actually using one of my bras as a base. So, it just makes it easier. I wouldn't want to try to figure it out on the machine and then have it not be right or just not work...

Hm, that's weird...Though, I think the more you dye it, the darker it might get. So, I'd try to start off light, and then go darker if needed. A hell of a lot easier than dying it and trying to go lighter...

Ah yeah using your own bra as a base does help and you wouldn't want to screw it up.
I'd have trouble with the elasticity of it though personally.

*nod* I see what you mean. The pants aren't dark but if the blue & red react more to the purple scale, then I'd have to remove the color anyway. I'll just go to JoAnn's tomorrow and get the color remover and see how it works AFTER they're lighter.

It's actually turning out fairly well. At least I'm happy with it! And it's almost done. I'll probably finish it in the next hour or so ^^

Good idea. Purple-pants Soul would just be weird...And this way, it's less work and cheaper.

XDD Oh god. Yeah my mom was looking through her pants and she and I both saw like maroon pants and was like 'would these work?' 'Blood red.... Not bright red, but deep rich blood red....' XD;

lol Welcome, Demon =3 Yeah I tend to look around stores and see what might work. I mean I'm using nail polish for the curse mark for Allen Walker. Woot for quick dry XD It peels off nicely.

A woman who has that big of a bust & is thin, and it doesn't cause back pain, I applaud. I mean really, you could use the plastic stuffs that I saw for sale at JoAnn's if you want them bigger and not look too odd... but I dunno... If it looks ok as is then don't fight it =3

x_x; Yeah. That's why I got his red shirt for his Red Room outfit on V-day. A nice rich blood red =3

Yeah, I am, actually. It's my first time doing two costumes for a single con. I don't really know if it is a secret, and I think my friend and I are keeping it as such to be just goofy, but the character should be pretty recognizable. It's from an anime series, but this particular person is from the Wii game only.

Good luck sewing Mai's shirt by hand. I don't envy you at all. That takes some serious dedication! Keep going!

Does anyone know if normal stores, (like fred meyers) sell face paint? Or a store in/near Milwaukie, Oregon that does? XP I can't seem to find anything.

Michaels sells face paint. It's cheap stuff, though. I wouldn't trust it. What color are you looking for? There might be a costume supply store that can help. In Eugene there is a store near REI that sold face paint. Halloween stuff is usually pretty cheap and will flake and crack. I'm really looking to avoid that myself.  This site: http://www.amphigory.com/ has been tempting for me. There's some example pictures that people have submitted. A lot of cosplayers use that site from what I can tell. I think it's pretty trusty.

Its like a yellow-gold color. More yellow than gold, and the outline is black, but tthat,s what eyeliner is for really, and my eyeliner stays on really well.
Also, does anyone know of a really good brand of nail polish? (I know this is kinda odd. XD)
I need white.

Nail polish, I'd say Maybelinne or NYC. NYC is a tad cheaper in price, but the quality is just as good. I got both from Target =3

Hmm. That's tough. I wonder if you'd be able to buy some pots of yellow, orange, and brown, and mix it together in a tupperware to create the color and amount you need without having to resort to a website or specialty shop. I've been recommended the brand Kryolan from a few people. I don't know where to buy it, though. Cosworx carried it, but they've stopped. They might still have the color you need on clearance.

I've bought black nail polish from the brand "Sally Hanson: Hard As Nails X-Treme wear". It's from Target and was the cheap stuff. It actually works pretty well. Rather than using one stroke for nails, use three (a stroke for both sides and the middle). Or treat yourself to a manicure. :) It's totally worth it.

I'm really hesitant to get a manicure, see I'd need my toes and my nails done, And one of my toenails is currently comming off due to a 2 pound can of beans smashing it so its pretty sensitive, and I'd rather do it myself.  :'(
I miss 2010.

ALMOST DONE~! Ugly picture (I decided not to get my chest all done up with tape), but I'm pretty much done with my ass leaves. Fully bendable and such, they fall forward a bit but I'm going to put another snap near the bottom of them to stabilize them more.

The bottom of my zipper ended up being in an awkward spot to put a belt so I put my faith in some heavy duty snap (10 gauge I think) and it works wonderfully! I can easily take my leaves off and on now for sitting and putting my boyfriend labcoat on when I actually want to walk like a normal person.
I was even able to find some brown flip flops to wear with the costume when I went grocery shopping this evening. Two bucks, it was an awesome find.

What's left on this costume though? I have to...
Go over the spots in paint once more.
Paint a leaf line on my leaves.
Purchase a Hair comb clippy thing and glue it to my head leaf.
Attach one more snap to the dress and ass leaves.
Sew in a hook and eye on the back of the dress.
Buy Fashion tape.
Receive fangs.

I think I can get most of it done tonight~ Yay, one more costume down. White Mage will be tomorrow and hopefully I can get Cassandra done in time.

Well, you won't be alone in the over heating party. I'll be wearing a suit the first day, and almost all black the second...And I know a lot of other people who will be wearing suits and stuff like that...

Pencil, you're gorgeous! You bring back so many memories! I watched that movie on the Sci-Fi channel probably six years ago now. Ugh. It was so good.

Believe me. They've probably seen worse. Or just bandage that toe and ask them not to touch it. With pedicures you get a real nice leg massage, too :3 Mmmm. So nice. I get a pedicure maaaybe once a year. It's a rarity, but it's awesome. It's up to you, of course, but if you're feeling confident enough about it or if the sensitive issue falls off, maybe they can attach a fake one?

But all things considered, a bottle of white nail polish is way cheaper than anything a salon would do. hahahaa.
