Hiii!
I'm Charles! I got into anime/manga through some of my middle school friends back in the ancient days and Toonami.
This will mark my second year at K-con. Last year was my first ever sci-fi/anime convention! I felt like I a prodigal son coming home to a family he had never had before.
I like anime/manga, video games, violin, electric guitar, judo, entomology, geology, science fiction in general, beach shorelines,
I live near PSU, though I'm not taking classes at the moment---haven't decided on a major, bad economy makes applying out-of-pocket difficult, and I can only get financial aid if I apply for full-time enrollment. And with all of the above in effect plus the difficulty of getting a job if I quit my new one, I think I gotta sit and think for now...
Now then. Favorite anime!:
-Nanoha season 2 (First one wasn't too hot until the last 5 episodes or so not to mentioned nearly fatally bogged with things that make you worry about the studio's sexual preferences, third one may or may not be too militaresque for my tastes.)
-Full Metal Panic! (Mixed feelings, though, for multiple reasons.)
-Cowboy Bebop (Alllways a classic!)
Manga!:
-Genshiken (It makes me cry and laugh at the same time. Laugh for obvious reasons, cry because it's so accurate...)
-Planetes
-Vinland Saga (It's a MANGA ABOUT VIKINGS. BY THE GUY WHO MADE PLANETES.
And it's even HISTORICALLY ACCURATE. How can this NOT be awesome?)
Favorite video games:
-Cave Story (Best freeware game ever! I might dress up as Quote this year!)
-Iji (Another freeware game and a close contender for the title of best freeware game)
-Bungie's Marathon Trilogy (Intense, confusing, often trippy, and now totally free to download!)
-Resident Evil RE-Make, Resident Evil 3
-Tales of Symphonia (The sequel just looks...Borderline painful, though.)
-Timesplitters 2 and 3
-Painkiller
-Serious Sam
There's probably others, but those are most on my mind at the moment.
Not quite as enthused by anime geekdom as I used to (Can I live without constant shitstorms about Lucky Star and/or Haruhi and/or whatever? Yes I can!), but after attending my first K-con last year my geek blood feels alive again. Maybe I should just pay less attention to the internet.
Pleased to meetcha!
