The main one I can think of that ever made me cry in an anime/manga(since I was reading it) was Zabuza and Haku dying. God that was depressing as all hell. D:

Sailor Moon - just the fact that it was over and it had been with me for so long of my life, and was my first, to finish it was insane
Fushigi Yugi- Touching, and another one that had been with me for so long
Chrono Crusade- teared up a bit on that one, how freaking depressing
Kanon- Another really depressing one
Clannad- Rollor coaster man! Sad and happy tears, I think this is the best one from Key Animation!

For me, it was:

-kimi ga nozomu eien (rumbling hearts) - At the end of episode 2, and the last episode.
-FMA - Night of the Chimera's Cry (made me more mad than cry, but I shed a tear or two the first time I saw it) and the death of Maes Hughes.
-Trigun - The death of Nicholes D. Wolfwood

I've cried during a couple anime shows I've seen.

- Code Geass
- Fushigi Yugi
- Wolf's Rain
- Fruits Basket
- Peacemaker Kurogane

I also cried during Vampire Hunter D and the Yu Yu Hakusho movie. >_<

Chrono crusade (Rosette and chronos deaths)

Wow, I had heard the circumstances of Rosette's death was different in the anime compared to the manga, Chrono dies in the anime?  He didn't in the manga!

I cried from the episode of Kyouya's past in Ouran... Mostly just from that beautiful metaphor with him painting the picture that represented his role as the third son, and then at the end he went outside the picture and painted on the whole wall. I DON'T KNOW WHY I CRIED. BUT I DID. GOD IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL MOMENT.
Also, the episode with the Alice in Wonderland crossover, at the end when Haruhi is dreaming the whole thing and crying in her sleep.
And the episode of the twins' past.
... Actually, now that I think of it, Ouran was a surprisingly deep show sometimes. It was hilariously funny most of the time but damn it could make me baww.

And it's not anime, but in Futurama, the Jurassic Bark episode that makes everyone who has a heart cry it out, and the episode where Fry dies and Leela keeps putting herself to sleep with the honey to be with him.

But I don't watch a whole lot of anime :/ I'm a reader of manga instead.

Time to add another one.  Valkyria Chronicles 18 & 19.  In episode 18, when Rosie starts to sing, I almost cried.  In episode 19, I cried with Welkin.  I am such a softie.

Anyone taking bets on the crying that will commence for those watching Tokyo Magnitude 8.0?  I have a feeling that sombody is going to find out their family members are dead.  Anyone else feel the same?

I also think I will take a poll on who watched episode 1 of Cross Game and didn't cry.  I have yet to find one person.   :'(

Many of the deaths in Legend of the Galactic Heroes made me cry. Best manly tears anime ever. Actually, best anime ever in general, but that's another matter.

Kaiji. "He fell silently."

Gunbuster, at the ending. Mass tears.

Gunslinger Girl. Again, the ending.

And while it's not anime, Planetarian needs a mention, because...oh god.

Again, FullMetal Alchemist. No joke; when Ed got stabbed, when Hughes died. T.T It's so realistic in that it's an anime where the ending is bittersweet. I don't like anime's where the ending is completely happy or everything is all right with the world >.>

D Gray Man. Not just when so many people die to protect the exorcists, but the song  the song of the 14th too I know, it sounds stupid but the lyrics... I really love ancient history  so Im always thinking about things like that.

By 'like that' I mean the idea that over thousands of years billions of  people have had dreams that go unanswered and fade away, so I guess it got to me...yah.

Anime made that made me cry eh  :'(? Hmm, on full contemplation of this I thought that the ending to Tactics made me cry when Ayaname (I think that's her name) dies and gives her farewells to the other characters. That performance by Cynthia Martinez (The American voice actress who played Ayaname in Tactics) her performance was just so beautiful, and so heartwrenching, that I couldn't help but cry. Take a look at it yourself and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I think someone actually asked her about the difficulty of doing that role during her panel.  I do remember her talking about it, and Yea, it was a definite cry scene.   :'(

I have been doing a lot of crying lately.  We had to put one of our cats to sleep yesterday.  The vet didn't know what the cause of his problem was, but said that it would cost almost $2000 to stabalize him, and then it would probably be an uphill battle to keep him alive after that, if he lived through the night, which was questionable.  Rumple Teaser, we will miss you.  :'(

Ah, well... yeah. Kind of already on edge from the NCIS episode I watched, so it was no surprise that this could do the same.

Did you see the first episode of Cross Game?  It's about baseball.   ;D  I started watching Over Drive a long time ago when it was first released, but I think the subbing group I was getting it from dropped it.  I will have to go find an alternate and finish it up.  I think I was on episode 5 or so.  :-\

I have the first 20 episodes now.  I'll try getting the last 6.    Mendoi stopped subbing at episode 10 so I am getting the rest from Toki.  Don't tell me anymore, I'll post my cry fest notes when I finish watching.

Too many have gotten me over the years, so just a few of the most notable:
  • FF7 might not be anime proper, but it's the first one that really got me good. I'd already been spoiled for what happens to Aeris, but fell in love with her anyway. Somehow I managed to convince myself that the spoiler was untrue, and if only I got to her soon enough then she could be saved. Finally, we find her! I'm almost crying with relief. But then, THAT scene happens. Even now, just the music is enough to get me.
  • The two episodes at the end of Negima! got me pretty good as well. Spoiler, click-and-drag highlight over it to read: Asuna's slowly-encroaching sense of helplessness and the "No... they wouldn't dare" feeling you get leading up to her death were bad enough, but then the effed-up unreality of how everyone tries to deal with it (up until Chao gives Negi the proto-Cassiopeia) clinches it. Not many things can peg my creepymeter the way Negi's artificial cheerfulness and "That's it, Yue! Human magic might not be able to bring her back, but maybe demon magic could!" did. There are too many other nuances to list here, but they had me in a puddle.
  • Kimi ga Nozomu Eien actually messed me up for a few weeks afterward. Sad enough by itself, but try watching it when you have some personal knowledge of PTSD and what it does to people.
  • Both versions of the ending of Mahoromatic round out the list. Particularly Suguru's dawning realization  of "Mahoro's going away..." just before she takes out Feldrance in the anime, and Miyuki's "The only person in the world who can save him is gone" in the manga.

Anyone who doesn't cry from Grave of the Fireflies is a cold-hearted freak.  :'(

Well, I didn't... but then again, I often do fit that bill. (There are several reasons I cosplay Sohma Hatori.) To me it was too sad to cry for, if that makes any sense.

(Edit: Added jury-rigged spoiler code after Kurohime gave me the idea.)

Well Blackstar, I finished watching OverDrive.  A great anime, but It wasn't emotional enough to make me cry.  Did get my blood pumping though.  Did you watch Cross Game ep#1 yet?   :o   :'(

I just finished  Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~.  The last two episodes had me tearing up.   :'(

This is going to sound very stupid, but about the only anime that's ever made me cry is Naruto.  And it's managed the feat repeatedly.

edit:  reads thread Good, it isn't just me!  Do we have a spoiler code?  I'm not seeing it in the options...

Me too, but just once so it didn't make my list. Spoiler: Sakura's scene talking to Sasuke on the night he left the village was a heartbreaker.

Spoiler code: I wish we did, but the only thing I can think of is to "glow" the text you want to hide, then replace "red" in the glow code with "black". Then someone would have to highlight it to read it. Example above: (glow=black,2,300)spoiler text(/glow) except that you use [] instead of ().
This is my serious voice. Otherwise, I'm just another anime fan, not a moderator.

That sounds like work!   :-\

That scene was pretty sad.  And the fight on the waterfall.  Also episode 52 of Shippuden, some of the introductory stuff with Tsunade, and a couple things coming up soon in the anime.

And I swear I seldom ever cry at the movies.

TTATT I managed to get through Hughes's death, but the funeral scene was what made me bawl. True, it had funny parts- Which is what made it good :3 A nice balance

I still cry here. Then when they take about him on the train, not knowing he had died.

I haven't seen a lot of animes that would make me cry. It was only Fruits Basket that made me cry and I bawled like a baby.

i haven't been reading the thread, so i don't know what has been posted, but there have been a few series that made me cry.
one of them was berserk. the ending was so twisted, it made me cry.(trying not to spoil anything here)
another was elfen lied. i cried twice during that series. once at the part where they kill the dog, and once again at the endish.
last but not least, pokemon. the episode when ash was going to leave pikachu with the pikachu colony dealio.
totally made me cry when i was a little kid.

Now that you mentioned Pokemon, I remembered that the one thing that made me cry was when Ash was supposedly dead in the first movie with Mewto. Pikachu couldn't stop crying and that made me cry.

I remember seeing it in theaters. I think my dad left because he didn't like the idea that I was sobbing out loud in the theater with everyone else.
