so what is some of you going to do for halloween???
Actually, I think Halloween is what really got me into cosplay.
I used to dress up in all kinds of costumes for Halloween. When I became a teen I used to scare the little kids coming up to the door. I put our speakers up on the roof and had an FM broadcasting mic clipped inside of my rubber skull mask. I was dressed as the grim reaper. I had black light paint on my mask and hands, and had a black light in the entryway. I would talk to the kids as they came up the driveway over the speakers. It was to dark for them to see where the voice was coming from. Later I had a wolfman costume. I used latex to apply hair to my face. I had a rubber dog snout, and black claws that I wore inside of some black ski gloves. The gloves were cloth on the back and leather on the palms. With the claws coming out the tips, and a bit of hair glued to the backs they looked pretty good. I also had fangs, of course. When I entered college I was in theater. I played a number of roles, and got used to being in makeup and hot lights.
I have always enjoyed Star Trek. I purchased the pattern for the STNG uniform for season 2. My wife made it for me from actual wool gabardene. It is dry clean only. After wearing it for awhile you quickly learn why Picard is always pulling down his shirt.
When I got into anime I immediatelly thought it would be fun to dress up as someone, my biggest problem was finding someone older who had a beard and mustache. It is still my biggest hurdle. For now I am Lt. Cmdr. Andrei Kalanin of MITHRIL. We need good armslave pilots.
