   A while ago there was a thread dedicated to creating a small picnic event for ShinRa related cosplayers at the next Kumori-con...I thought that was a great idea, but wanted something sooner, and not during Kumori-con, since everybody is super busy during that time.

   So I thought to myself, what would be a suitable occasion? Then I smacked myself in the head! Durrhurr!

   A perfectly gauche, hilarious events to get ShinRa cosplayers together is Christmas! Certainly, a evil corporation the size of ShinRa would have their sticky fingers into Christmas, or some sort of Christmas related holiday.

   So, I'm putting the word out. On the the 28th, I propose a group of ShinRa and FFVII cosplayers head downtown to the Christmas Tree Lighting @ Pioneer Courthouse Square. Others events would include trekking over to the mall to do some traditional Holiday-y (yet commercial! ShinRa loves crass commercialism!) things, such as seeing Santa (imagine, the Silver General sitting on the lap of the silver whiskered pudgy guy himself! It would make a far better and more memorable image that of Zsu-Zsu the poodle and Santa on your Christmas Card), and ice skating.

   Of course, as this would coincide with a major event (Christmas Tree Lighting FTW), I would ask that cosplays that are especially elaborate and stand outty be toned down a little for the safety of you and your hard cosplay creating work, and the comfort of the non-group members. Also, it would be fun if you added a few festive touches, from humorous reindeer ears to the all important pin that is a little evergreen tree.

   So guys, what do you say? Does anybody aside from me want to pull together and make this little holiday cosplay excursion a reality? Sorry about the short notice.

Coffee Drink      What's a Tree Lighting without hot cocoa?

How to prepare:
   Make sure you cosplay is comfortable enough and warm enough for you too endure PDX's chilly evenings, and a several blocks worth of walking. You don't want to bring a bad that weighs a ton either. Should you own a camera feel free to bring it and record the event (take in mind, Malls photography policies are a little confusing. Usually they have no trouble with it.) Also remember to bring enough cash to participate in things like Ice Skating, or if you want to do a little shopping/eating/etc.
   As always, have lots of fun, but be courteous to any 'normal' people you encounter.

I'm so in. ^^ Reno and his Turks will do all we can to attend. For... security reasons. Yeah... sure... ^^ So will the President... after all, what is a company outing without the famous Rufus Shinra himself?

Oh yays, this sounds like so much fun. ^^ I hope I get my Christmas-y version of Reno done in time (I was going to make one for the Christmas meet-up... this just gives me another excuse to wear it. ^^)

I just tried to explain the idea to my Mother her reactions was '"So, a lot of people are going to go downtown and be evil ShinRa reindeer?"

Would there be room for a possible Turk-sedo Mask? I'm still determined to pull one off. Though instead of a white mask, I'd have shades. Or visiting Capsule corp CEO Trunks (GT version) could show up. Either way my family usually goes to the tree lighting anyway, so I'd probably go and look for you guys.

Evil Shinra Reindeer for the win!! XD (That's actually what my costume was going to be... Reno the Red-nosed Reindeer. XD I have no life). Hopefully others will show up... this sounds like fun, if only for an excuse to meet up with people. Although, people might be daunted by the fact that it's Shinra-only....

   The Turk-sedo Mask thing works, on the condition of it still being related enough to a FFVII/ShinRa character concept, but the other ones veer off towards ixnay territory. Not that we'd turn you away if that's what you came up as, it's just Inu-Yasha with a Santa hat showing up to a ShinRa/FFVII event is kind of like Darth Vader turning up at a Renaissance Faire.

   Reno the red nosed reindeer! I love it! I hadn't planned to sound so exclusively ShinRa, but I guess that's how it came off. If it was really strictly ShinRa I probably wouldn't be allowed to come as Elena during Before Crisis was pseudo quasi ShinRa.

   So if anyone who was about to be scared off because of the ShinRa factor read down to this post, I'd like to say if your costume is within reason we could probably smuggle you in! Just try and keep the ratio of ShinRa to non-ShinRa something like # > #.

Ah, I think Elena qualifies as Shinra. She was going to the Shinra Academy, even if she wasn't quite a Turk yet. As for the people who don't have Shinra costumes... Turks are really easy to pull together last-second, just a black suit and tie. Also, any FFVII character who worked for Shinra should work too (soldier Cloud, Cid, Zack, etc).

Turk-sedo mask... that will be fun to see. ^^ I have a feeling there are going to be lots of cool costumes for the holidays.

Shinigami_lover, I'm haven't quite hashed out the exact schedule. I'd suggest something like meet at the Lloyd Center Ice Rink noon/early afternoon and get all the festivities that have to do with ice skating, Santa viewing, etc. out of the way, and then proceed to the Pioneer Courthouse Square at about 5:30 for the tree lighting.

Anybody have any objections to that? As soon as we get a consensus on a agenda I'll modify my opening post with the schedule.

If things get too cold then I'll just pull off CEO Trunks, but if things work out, Turk-sedo Mask is on the way. I'll be hunting for you at the ice rink and join you before the crowds all flock to the tree. Who knows I might find a top hat in the mall.
