I've ordered my wig and bought the material for my coat, and we've just about finished making the pattern, so after this is the difficult sewing part! -puts up Welcome to Coat Hell sign-

Kangetsu: I'd go to thrift stores for cheap generic brown boots. Even if you're looking for kneehighs, they'll be cheapest there.

VERY TRUE. Cosworx will deliver in about a week (unless they tell you the wig is out of stock. Then it takes like... 3 months... even if they tell you they'll have it the following month, it'll take 3 months). ...but 90% of the time it'll be about a week.

That would be an interesting hybrid. Reminds me that one of these days I really need to follow through on my plan of designing a character that incorporates elements from as many of the various characters as possible, and naming him/her/it "Pangaea."

I stopped in at Act II, a women's resale store downtown, and found a long, double-breasted dark blue coat with the right type of collar. It was kind of amazingly ugly, though. XD

I'm glad I'm not the only one that misinterpreted that comment. ^^; The sad part is that I actually went and asked the internets what it was, and lo and behold, it has an article on Wikipedia. In retrospect, that search could have ended very, very poorly.

On the bright side, I made some progress towards completion yesterday. Bought a wig on Cosworx that can be cut to a proper Greece, and am glad I followed everyone's advice to get it there. We had tried to put in an order for some of the extra things we would need on Amphigory, and I get this weird e-mail back from them... canceling my order because my billing information apparently doesn't match up with the bank's AVS. Despite the fact that I have never had any problems using my debit card anywhere else online over the last, say, four years. There were no typos in the address, so who knows. XD They have a section about how you can call up the bank and blah blah blah then reorder... but at that point, it's like, let's just go look for the stuff in Seattle instead. >__<

While out shopping, I did some "research" for what I could prepare for the potluck, and learned that tzatziki sauce is delicious. Sadly, I didn't realize it was supposed used as a sauce for the souvlaka, so I just put it all on the pita bread and had it like a taco. I blame my lack of culture on the fact that I was raised by wolves. 8D

One thing I'm wondering about... should I go with the beret? I only see it showing up sporadically at best.

Funds are not a problem for me, I'd just need to do a little khaki matching in order to hopefully find something that goes along with the uniform. Hopefully that goes a little better than trying to match suits to fedoras for Firo this past Sakuracon. XD And I'm thinking... it probably wouldn't be a very big deal to make a Mount Athos. My biggest concern would be that I'm taking the train down, rather than driving, so large and unwieldy props might not be the best for traveling. Although it might guarantee me plenty of space from people too scared to sit by me!

What could possibly go wrong with hitchhiking? Aside from that whole... Large Marge thing from Peewee's Big Adventure. That terrified me when I was a little kid. XD

I'll make a Mount Athos if I can get it there. If not, well, as of today I'm currently at 5 cats. I figure that's one for each breast pocket, one for each shoulder (under the epaulets if they'll fit, that way they stay) and a head cat. Which is nothing at all like a headcrab. I figured I should get my own just because, cons being what they are, if anything got misplaced - the only person that would be sad would be me. But I really appreciate that people offered. I gotta say, this being my first time doing anything with a group, I feel very welcomed. :3

I am surprisingly close to being done with everything! 8D Well, except the wigs, but I'm not thinking about those at the moment. >> Really the only big things I have left to do are sewing the Sitaly dress and finishing the Prussia flag pole. Hopefully those won't end up being more difficult than necessary. :x

And yes~ I'm glad I can use the same wig for both. xD Though I'll have to figure out what I'll do about the curl... I could just wear my hat the entire time, and not worry about having to redo it for when I'm Canada in pjs. That's probably the easiest way to go.
