Alright peoples...I need advice! We all know...well ok, maybe not everyone knows...but I'm cosplaying fem!England, yeah? So I'm trying to figure out what color skirt I should make. Dx I really don't know. I mean, there are no official colors I don't think, and I've seen fanart of it being khaki and plaid...and maybe some other color...but um...what do you guys think?

Hmm. I'd look for England's colored modern clothes (try the World Conference pages?) and do a color-approximation based on what he wears there.

I would go with a dark brown or green skirt, depending on what color the sweatervest would be. My intuition is telling me that the vest is green, so a dark brown skirt would look best with it, if that's the color you're going with. =D

Edit: Oh, also, Naruchan, I see that one of fem!England in the lower left hand corner of the picture, and she's wearing the jacket. England's suit was dark brown in the full color pages of the webmanga. I'm not sure if that's what you're referring to, but I digress.

Yeah, I just don't see England wearing a black vest for some reason, unless it was a suit. xD; I was already going to make it green so, I guess it really does depend on what color green it's going to be. But I'm thinking brown or plaid would be the best choice probably.

@Demy: I like the plaid and the green too. I think since it's a school uniform, it would make sense if it was similar in color to his military uniform. I still am, but... I really want to sing England's "Absolutely Invincible British Gentleman", yet no lyrics have popped up yet. I saw some for Pub and Go. Where is the love for the other song? D8 I know typing up the lyrics takes time, yet Pub and Go seemed to be up super fast. o_o

I dunno. Maybe I should just go ahead and sign up with that song, since I'm 99.9% sure that I want to sing it, and there should be lyrics. ...at some point...

Cuz they're both Saturday night, and for the last two years the Karaoke Idol contest was from 8-10pm (just looked up the old schedules >>). That's the only thing that would keep me from entering. : | I'd just have to sing my song at the panel! XD

Do we need stuff for the karaoke that we don't have, or can we just sing our hearts out at our little panel thingy? (...I'm talking like I know stuff when I have no clue what it is...XD) I could understand the possible need for a microphone and speakers of some sort (and prompters? xD), but the room we're in should be small enough, and I don't think any of us sing so quietly that we couldn't hear each other. The panel and the karaoke, are they very far away from each other? Could those of us wishing to participate just go back and forth between them?

As for me, I'll just stick with our group, or at least the Italies. (lol) Maybe I could bring my guitar and sing to people in French. 8D XD

I'm going to bring my laptop (which is huge, 17in) to the panel with speakers so we can listen to music and/or put up lyrics for karaoke. I don't have a mic or any sort of projector, and I doubt there will be free wireless to get lyrics off the internet. I can, however, get all of the Hetalia lyrics saved to my computer, so we'll at least have those if people want to sing. I could also print off copies of Maru Kaite Chikyuu if we wanna have a bunch of people sing that (wasn't someone talking about that at some point?).

We could set up a singing area/not-stage and get one of those cheap-o mics from the dollar store (sort of an impromptu Hetalia Idol?). It could ALSO have it's own little corner in the room. We're running out of corners at this point...

Somehow I don't think I'm going to enter the Karaoke Contest. I always get a different sound amplified through the mic than what I do when I sing at home/with my computer mic. You can hear all the mistakes much more easily. It makes me cringe.

But because I like to sing, I'll probably come to Open Mic. I'll always remember the time I hung around the karaoke room almost the whole time at KumoriCon as Axel from KH and with the other Organization 13...that was awesome.

With that said, I hope to still be in the Cosplay Chess. That's always fun to participate in, but somehow I doubt they'd allow Hetalia due to it being somewhat new in comparison to things like Final Fantasy, Bleach, Naruto, Tsubasa, Haruhi, Kingdom Hearts, etc which I think would be more likely due to recognizability.

No idea on how singing would work in the panel, if it's just a few people making a lot of noise it might be a biiit awkward. But I'm a bit slow tonight, so just as soon as things start making sense I'll weigh in properly.

I've finally managed to get a hold of a uniform that I'm happy with. The strangest thing is that getting an appropriate white shirt to go with it was almost the hardest part. ^^;

Next thing I need to do is find an appropriate pair of boots. I spent a while fretting over how I could find something that looked appropriate - but realistically, I've only seen Greece's boots twice in artwork and all there is to take away from it is that they're brown and mostly featureless. I'm sort of thinking about going with something along these lines: http://www.uspatriotstore.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=1510 because while it's not 100% accurate, it is an actual pair of boots. I can find things that are closer in costume boots, but I'm flat-footed and going to be walking around all day, which makes me think that something made for that would be a better choice.

I suspect I'm going to need to look into a wig, too. My hair is the right length everywhere... except for the dangly ear bits, which is sort of important. I doubt they're miraculously going to fill out in a month's time, barring any magic happening (England? Little help, here?) Then after that... cats!

Don't you hate it when the seemingly simplest part of your costume, like a white shirt, is the hardest part to find? That happened to me when I was looking for a plain white dress shirt. Really, wtf. D:

Anyway, for the boots, you could go around to your local Goodwills/Buffalo Exchanges and find plain-looking brown boots for pretty cheap (cheap as far as boots go : P ). Anything plain and brown should work, I agree. If you're going to order a wig, I'd order it now to make sure it gets here in time. Or if you're in/near Portland, stop by Wigland and see what you can find there.

But really, as long as you have oodles of cats, all will be well~! |D

I know! I ended up having to go around checking multiple stores, because each time I'd find something close - white, short sleeved, more substantial than a generic t-shirt - there'd always be something throwing it off. Logos, pockets, possessed by evil, etc.

I think this weekend might be when I go out boot shopping. My friend knows of someplace or other that she thinks will have what we're after. The wig, I believe, will just be ordered off of amphigory. Kim is telling me "You're going to need this, and this, and this..." and kind of going on listing all of things required in tailoring a wig to make it look the way you want, while I sat there with a blank : D sort of expression. Short form is, I'm just going to get her to help me with it. Sometimes I feel like such epic fail when it comes to cosplaying. All I bring to the table is overwhelming enthusiasm for whatever series I'm into, and finances to make things happen. XD

I feel like the most extreme version of Greece involves twenty cats. One for each of the monasteries on Mount Athos. But sadly, I just don't have that many attach points. @__@
