I just saw it last night as well, and had no idea this was actually happening, thought it was all rumor and speculation.

Was thoroughly impressed though. And M. Night is doing it? Awesome. I always really liked the story of Avatar, just couldn't keep up with all the filler there seemed to be in the anime. So, yeah, movie looks awesome, though.

I just saw the trailer... I don't know... I don't really think that AtLAB needed a liveaction trilogy in the first place so I guess I'll just watch as it all pans out.

Oh, is it really planned to be a trilogy? That's epic.

Yeah, the first movie is based off of the water book, second movie off of earth, etc~

I feel like the AtLAB universe could do without, especially if the movie ends up bombing. There's so much they'd need to fit in though! 20 episodes into one movie? I'm relatively certain that the first movie will include Aang + Sokka + Katara begginning their journey -> air temple visit -> Zuko chasing them along the way -> Water, training with Pakku -> final battle. I hope Suki's somehow squeezed in but I won't be surprised if she's left out. Especially tragic would be the lack of cabbage man and foaming mouth guy- I shudder to think!

As for the third season, the finale on it's own has enough material for a live action movie. I just don't see the point to turning this into a live action movie but I guess that's just me~

Well really, is there ever a reason for a live-action adaptation of an anime? Or a manga for that matter? It usually just filters down to money and profit. If something can be milked, it probably will be.

The positive side....exposure can usually be potentially more positive than negative. At least more people will have the chance to learn about Avatar.

I think those images look pretty good. I am glad when I can see cast photos and not recognize anyone. They did that for Narnia and it works so much better. I don't come to the film with any preconceived notions of how this person is going to modify the character based on their acting type.

I like that they don't really look like people in costumes either. They just look like realistic representations of the characters. Looks good to me.

Then find east indians >:3

They did, they put up an ad in Vanity Fair that said
"Wanted: East Indians and Eskimos to star in some weird cartoon-live-action movie. Stunt experience a plus. Only academy award winners need apply."

Unfortunately there's never been an Inuit movie that got so much as a nomination.

The actors have all changed. 'cept aang.
http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi4008247833/
That's the trailer.

They changed the name from:
Avatar: The Last Airbender
to
The Last Airbender

It looks better though.
And the guy who played the main character in Slumdog Millionaire plays Zuko.

I think it's going to be ok, not great, ok

And the name change in the movie is because James (ALIEN-NOT-TITANIC) Cameron is coming out with a movie called Avatar that is a major sci-fi epic and looks pretty awesome.

Anyway, back on topic, I am still excited for the movie based on what I have seen. I also am interested in the other Avatar that Tom mentioned. Should be interesting at least.

I agree, I thought the trailer looked pretty good. For not having seen the entire series, I think they did a great job of depicting a main aspect of the show's conflict, even though it may have been simplified for the sake of the teaser. We'll see how it turns out. As with other things coming out soon, I'm excited about it, despite the reasons there may be to feel otherwise.

Seeing as how most people are unpleased with the choice of actors, the fight choreography and overall movie content better be as Amazing and Epic as the trailer.

Lol cause if not, someone will be there to tell ya so.

Ugh, freaking work filters!  I can't see any of the pictures or movie trailers~ >_<

Hopefully I'll remember to look into it when I get home.. I'm excite about the thoughtm but we'll see how I feel after the movie.

Someone said they changed Zuko's actor?  That makes me a little sad and a little happy at the same time.  Seeing as how Jesse did the voice for Roxas in KH2, and Roxes is pissy enough to be similar to Zuko in some ways.. I think it would have been interesting.

That and I'd love to imagine Zuko saying, "I'll catch you, Avatar! You and your beautiful soul!!" to Aang.. XD

Agreed.
I think that if they make the whole movie as cool as the trailer, I'll be happy.

I agree.. I'd almost settle for a cameo of some large black man in her outfit.. like how she was portrayed when the group sat in on the theater production of them.

I loved it when the kid came out and told Zuko, "Nice outfit! But your scar's on the wrong side.."  XD It reminded me of an anime con where fangirls runs around screaching at the slouched Ls "L bends at the KNEES!" >O<
