Christmas Music!
« on: December 15, 2008, 12:27:20 am »
I don't know about the rest of you but Christmas Music is my favorite type of music! I would listen to it all year if people didn't stare at me too strangely >_>

My favorite Christmas album would have to be The Vince Guaraldi Trio's "A Charlie Brown Christmas." After that it would have to be any of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Christmas albums.

Everyone should share their favorite Christmas songs to spread the Christmas spirit!

Bing Crosby all the way for me.

I really really love the song 'baby it's cold outside.' I wanted to sing a duet so badly with someone for choir but my teacher wouldn't let me because he thought the song was to inappropriate.

Anyone from the Rat Pack singing a Christmas song.  I think my favorite off the top of my head is Dean Martin's "Let it Snow."

Does anyone else wish Christmas songs were played even a few days after Christmas on the radio?  It always seems odd when they start playing them around various times then abruptly drop them on Dec. 26.

I just remembered a parody song one of the radio guys plays over here (and apparently gets in some trouble for it).
The parody song is "Chipmunks roasting on an open fire" and yes, it's an actual full song.

I too love Christmas music, you're not alone, Mustash!

I'd have to say my favorite at the moment (and if anyone is surprised by this, you must not know me that well) is the album "A Brutal Christmas: The Season in Chaos". It is a bunch of Christian metal covers of Christmas songs, my favorites being "Child Messiah" by Death Requisite and "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence/O Come, O Come Emmanuel" by Frost Like Ashes.

Behind that is Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Anything by them gets me in the Christmas spirit in a .giffy (haha, tech pun)

Oh yeah! and "Last Christmas" by Wham! Gotta love George Micheal in the 80's!

Yeah, it does always seem to cut out before I am ready for it to end. But, something I noticed that I will spread around is that Kell's (Portland's Irish restaurant) is having two Christmas performances of live Irish music. One on the Sunday before Christmas, and one on the Sunday after Christmas. So, if the radios stop playing Christmas music, you can still go to Kell's for some nice Irish folk Christmastime. ^_^

Hmm...  I have a few favorites.  When I was young I really liked "It Never Snows in L.A." by Jimmy Osmond.  I tried to find a clip of it, but had no luck.  Another favorite, that I often get tormented with, is this classic:

I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas

I know it seems like Im a little to into the japanese things but I LOVE the song Hurry Xmas by L'arc~en~Ciel.
Its really addicting and it makes me get into the christmas spirit. =]

OOOhhh...  I'll have to look for that one!  I like L'arc~en~Ciel.  I wish that CNN-AS didn't hack up his OP song of Moribito.

ooh I also enjoy the song white Christmas. why? because it's so lovely. I'm not to fond of the movie though. :/

Hey tofutakeoutThis one is for you!  Enjoy!

For everyone!!  Here is a bit of holiday fun.   ;D

Merry Christmas !!

ANYTHING from Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I also love The Medieval Babes, Sarah Brightman's Christmas CD and anything Celtic and Christmasy.

*And of course all the old originals. Time Life's Treasury of Christmas was the CD my parents use to play every year. Now I own it. It makes me feel like a child again. :)*

I have my own office at work with a radio and its been playing nothing but christmas music for a couple weeks now. How come you can never get tired of Christmas Music?

* I also REALLY love the song "Where are you Christmas" from the movie The Grinch. The Faith Hill version is super awesome*

Reliant K's last christmas Cd had a really cool version of the 12 days of christmas too.

It was more pleasant to listen to Christmas music on the drive to work today, than to listen to everything else that was on air. Although the joy was hard to maintain when I got nearer Eugene, and all the ice still on the streets.
Have Fun

I like Handel's Messiah 'cuz it ties Christmas and Easter together, defining the reason for quiet joy in this moment, even in the face of peril and uncertainty - by tying the brutality of Christ's suffering (Watch Mel Gibson's 'Passion of Christ') with glories to come, especially with the selected Old Testament prophecies that shine directly across the Gospel onto the dark yet glorious passages of Revelations.

And in the middle of the whirlpool pitting terror vs hope, injustice vs righteous fury, perversion vs incorruptibility, and pain vs yearning  - - - is the peace of a newborn child.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Then, if you want a song to party in the streets: Personent Hodie, arr. Benjamin Britten.

Hey - didn't anyone tell you that the Twelve Days of Christmas START with 25-Dec and PARTY ON TILL 6-Jan ?!? That's why you're supposed to sing Advent Children carols before Christmas and then sing all the Christmas carols now.

Keep on Partying! (And oh yeah, Mardi Gras is right around the next corner on the calendar...)
