"WINE in Anime" tread! (also: Your tasting notes *here!*)

OK! This thread is for spottings of 'when did you see someone have a glass or a bottle of wine' in your anime!
...Or any similar reference - James Bond was a total connoisseur as a character too, so it may be interesting to any amateur enologists if an anime character seems to call for or pour or enjoy something interesting or unusual...
And wine comments in general; your personal tasting notes, etc...

Yikes - way too young! '03 is a decent year, but '04 and '05 supposedly eclipse it.

NEXT SIGHTING:
We're watching Code Geass 2nd Season, and besides more Pizza Hut sightings, there is a "Hmm - this ISN'T copyright infringement" hack job on Chateau Margaux: (again!) - but they call it Ch. NARGAUX and the castle looks more like a house, in a much smaller round or oval border...

Can I say "the entire series of Bartender" or is that just cheating?

I'd call that 'close' - Bartender was a nice series, but it dealt mostly with liquors and mixed drinks. Nice stories around each, though - and I wonder what kind of licensing details the animation studio had to go through to get permissions to reproduce all those brand labels accurately.

Which way did the money flow - Did the studio have to pay to depict a *real* bottle of Pernod, for example, or were they able to talk to the distiller and *sell* the advertising space and product placement... after all the bartender character will be discussing these products by name.

I wondered about that while watching the show.

Nice little 13-ep series.

PS: Trader Joe's in Beaverton has 2006 Perrin Reserve Cotes du Rhone for $10/btl! Note that each TJ store has its own distribution, so the TJs in Tigard will not have the same selection as a TJs in NW Portland, for example...

Anyways, the 2006 is solid quality - but 2005 was flat-out stellar and you might be able to pick out a few hiding in the woodwork...

my guess is that they were able to Sell the product as they were obviously telling the good points of each one, that type of obvious selling has to have been at least slightly paid for...but were are getting off topic.

Well one of the characters is drinking a Red Bordeaux near the end of Maria+Holic he originally states that it is tomato juice because he is underage.  I remember Porco Rosso drinking, but I don't remember what it was he drank.  Of course, Lumière from Kiddy Grade is a connoisseur of fine wines.  That's all I can think of at the moment.

This is getting a little off-topic already, but I think it's quite possible that no money changed hands. The drink labels get free advertising, while the anime gets more street bar cred.

If there was the passing of bills, I guess it depends on who had more to gain.
