Nono, you can start with Nine. That's when the new series started, and all the little details of current four series are introduced at least partially in the Nine's season.

*Back on Topic regarding Dr Who*

I keep meaning to get into Dr Who but all the different Doctors keep me from knowing where to jump in. Does anyone have a good starting place? I know the origonal books and british shows included the early doctors but I feel strange not knowing the early doctors before these new ones. Has anyone read the novels?

I know the concept of Dr Who but I would really be interested in more info if your willing to share.

It was~.

Doctor Who ran from 1963 to 1985 when it was canceled. In 1996 they made a TV movie of it. Then, in 2005, Russell T Davies, the famous British drama writer began producing the show again, starting with the Ninth Doctor. He formatted it in such a way that you can watch the new series, starting with Nine, without getting lost in old references. So your best bet is to start with the new Doctor Who series, season one.
