LOTR? But whom would it be? Naw, can't be that one. I can't think, unless it is something spoken by an Uruk-Hai. But then it could be Narnia, as I really don't know the lines well.

Nope, you're actually right. It is one of the Lord of the Rings films. Not an Uruk-Hai, though. Hint: In a way, you were close when you guessed Eragon.

"Maybe I've been wrong all these years, and it's taken your inspiring speech to make me see it. You've really changed me. It's beautiful. I think we've gotta hug."

That's quote #1 from the previous page.
Hint: It's animated.

Thrilled to see our thread alive & well!!
@ Eve: Either there was a typo and you meant "town attorney", or it's not a typo, and there really is an attorney who specializes in cases of towing?
In which case...gosh I don't remember any kind of character or joke like that from Repo Man...some other movie about reclaiming cars...or about cars....???
(I doubt it was tow-headed attorney, i.e., light-blond-haired, but from a proofreading standpoint, that would've been another possibility.)

How many quotes are 'in play' at the moment.
Can anybody summarize?

And speaking of "in Play" :

Quote: "And if you shut me out, your family, and my family, and twenty-five million other families ...
Jack: [in a helicopter near Baltimore] The MOVIE QUOTE is IN PLAY!"

Answer: "THE SUMMARY of ALL MOVIE QUOTES."

But here is a hint. It isn't out yet but it will be in Theaters soon. The quote is said in the trailers.....and there are MANY MANY trailers going around right now.

Again the quote is: The world will look up and shout "Save us!"... And I'll whisper "No."

Treasure of the Sierra Madre, starring Humphrey Bogart. Directed by John Houston. We used it already.

"________, your wife was just showing us her Klimt."
"You too, huh? She's shown it to everybody."
"Well, she's very proud of it."
"I'm proud of mine too. I don't go waving it around at parties, though."

*giggles at cleverness of Guy's clues" Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan, The Sum of All Fears, and what's "in play" is a bomb.
Didn't know Watchmen quote, but it definitely increases my desire to go see that film!
*imagines superheroes being burnt out and emo and refusing to help when they could* *wonders what would get them to that point*

Jay's sounded familiar, had to look it up, lol, now hearing it repeating in R.D.'s voice <--clue to lead actor. Film also stars Sally Kellerman, the original Hot Lips of M*A*S*H*.

It's been a while since I've been here, but yes, this is the answer to my last post.  Black Hawk Down, one of the best war movies ever.

Here's all the quotes I did earlier (I'll even put in a clue for the ones that apply)...

"Look, these people, they have no jobs, no food, no education, no future. I just figure that we have two things we can do. Help, or we can sit back and watch a country destroy itself on CNN. Right?" (Spoken by Josh Hartnett)

"Nobody asks to be a hero, it just sometimes turns out that way." (Spoken by Josh Hartnett)

"You Americans don't smoke anymore. You live long, dull and uninteresting lives."

Lemme do another quote from the movie, one that'll hopefully make it more workable.  Okay, it's a conversation.

"Why aren't you shooting?"
"We're not being shot at yet."
"How can you tell?"
"A 'hiss' means it's close, a snap means..."
(A bullet hisses by)
"Now they're shooting at us!"

Yes, this is all from the same movie.  It's also the only Josh Hartnett movie I've seen that I respected him for.  (Which I hope is another clue for you guys).

Clue for my quote: It is from a book in a very famous series and was not the first from that series to be made into a film.

Quote: "And if you shut me out, your family, and my family, and twenty-five million other families ...
Jack: [in a helicopter near Baltimore] The MOVIE QUOTE is IN PLAY!"

Answer: The Sum of All Fears (2002)
Character: Jack Ryan played by Ben Affleck

Original Quote:
Quote
Jack Ryan: General, the President is basing his decisions on some really bad information right now. And if you shut me out, your family, and my family, and twenty-five million other families will be dead in thirty minutes.

Jack Ryan: The bomb is in play.

New quote for y'all, have fun!
"Immortality seems like a good idea, until you realize you're going to spend it alone. "

Answer: Queen Of The Damned
Character: Lestat Played by Stuart Townsend

Original Quote:
Quote
There comes a time for every vampire when the idea of eternity becomes momentarily unbearable. Living in the shadows, feeding in the darkness with only your own company to keep, rots into a solitary, hollow existence. Immortality seems like a good idea, until you realize you're going to spend it alone. So I went to sleep, hoping that the sounds of the passing eras would fade out, and a sort of death might happen. But as I lay there, the world didn't sound like the place I had left, but something different.

i got a good one.. see if anyone can get the original movie this came from:

Answer: Blazing Saddles
Character: Mexican Bandit

Got drunk and passed out. Woke up the next morning with a hangover and a tattoo... I wouldnt recommend the tattoo.

What exactly is this tattoo i keep hearing about?
Well.. its.. a long story. It was just after the... Incident. I believe you are familiar with that?

I think I know Medic's, Down Periscope! I don't know if the Navy has actually accepted is as a leadership training film, but that film had been under serious consideratioin, as the film showed many of the qualities they want in their ship board commanders.

Not getting any vibes from Rem's quote. Nope, not a thing. All I can say is that it isn't Frankenstein, as there was no Book II.

I don't think you need to post the answers so quick. Give us 24 hours, because not everyone can play every day. I know Wuntvor would have gotten it. Some of the rest of us need clues. Especially old geezers like me who don't remember a movie until I try to watch it again, then the whole thing comes back, well maybe the lines don't but...Just give us a little time to answer your quotes, please.

I'm confusing your latest quote with Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, where Dogberry's arguing about who is in charge with his subordinates. But I think I have seen it, I just don't have it.

I opine that anime DUB quotes seem kind of  'unfair,' because the 'real' lines were spoken in Japanese, and the subtitle text may differ from that the 3rd-party dubber spoke, and in many cases Japanese doesn't even match up to English directly. (How do you translate 'chi-chi-ue' differently from 'o-tou-san,' for example?)

Therefore, determining what exactly was 'said' will be vague. Otherwise, what happens if I write my favorite anime OAV quote in romaji?

1) Here's a FUN one:
"But if you are men who do doubt your courage or your faith, proceed no further - for DEATH awaits you, with nasty, sharp, pointy teeth!"

I get my BEST movie quotes from AMV Trailers:
2) "You're no soldier. You're an errand boy, sent by grocery clerks, to collect a bill."

Awesome both of you! (Guy & Pepito).  Except shouldn't you now be posting a quote or two quotes to keep the ball in the air, pepito?

Trailers are actually my favorite AMVs. When they flow seamlessly it's breathtaking.

I don't think quoting a dubbed or a subbed anime is unfair. I just think that we should have someone doing so post a disclaimer, such as:
"this might be a paraphrase; it is from a dub" or "this might be a paraphrase; it is from a subtitle".

'Boy Blue' should be from 'Old School,' right?!
BTW I actually owned the Kansas album 'Point of No Return' ON VINYL!
(That's the one with 'Dust in the Wind' - the *real* version, not piano...
And DitW wasn't really ever one of my favorite Kansas songs...)

#1 I can't place, but I'll throw out:

A: "What do you mean, YOU are ME!?!"
B: " No. He is Mi. And I am Yu."

Cracked me up when I saw that scene.

That seems like such a Jack Black thing to say, so I think you are thinking it is Nacho Libre, but I haven't seen it, so am not positive. And so I won't post a quote.

Nope - here's an exchange from the same movie

1: They want me to do a sequel.
2: A sequel, to "Death of a Salesman"? Doesn't he die at the end of the first?
1: Yes, but he has a twin brother, and he wants revenge.
2: Revenge? But, doesn't he kill himself?
1: No, no, that's what you were led to believe. He was killed by the C.I.A for selling smack... to Nazis...
2: Wow!

And one more

"There's nothing sadder, than a sad Japanese man"

"________, your wife was just showing us her Klimt."
"You too, huh? She's shown it to everybody."
"Well, she's very proud of it."
"I'm proud of mine too. I don't go waving it around at parties, though."
  "It's an exceptional painting."
  "Oh, the painting."

No one has yet to guess this one I posted a while back. Next clue. It's a late 80s comedy. Starring a dead comedian.

1: i don't want to sound like a queer or anything but I think this movie kicks a$$

hahaha, Orgazmo! I think that may be tied with Baseketball for my favorite Trey Parker/Matt Stone film.

"________, your wife was just showing us her Klimt."
"You too, huh? She's shown it to everybody."
"Well, she's very proud of it."
"I'm proud of mine too. I don't go waving it around at parties, though."

Back to School, right? Can't forget a Rodney Dangerfield movie, we've got the same name!

Franjean: You are drunk, and when you are drunk you forget that I am in charge!
Rool: Fine, then which way should we go?
Together: That way!

Willow! I grew up on that film!

And I can't figure out your newest one, Medic, not even with the hints. Hmmm...

I won't add a new one yet, try to ruminate over Medic's quote.

Medic. I get the hint. Breakfast Club. Everyone's heart throb, Bender. Also known for asking if anyone were slipping Claire "the hot beef injection" and him offering that if she wants to "get back at" her parents, "wouldn't I be outstanding in that capacity"? And of course the precursor to Bart Simpson: "Eat. My. Shorts."

A quote nearly all of you should be able to guess:

"You do too much - college, a job, all this time with me. You're not Superman, you know."

Easy one here: Great movie, really great scene:

Medic (driver):  “Is that a man?”
Medic (rider): “You’re damn right it is!”

I am just throwing this out here because I just loved this line

You people don't understand. I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with me!

It definitely defines the character who says it, doesn't it?   ;D

As for your quote:
Heheheheh. Can't help but wonder if that film was the inspiration for the new JCVD with a surprisingly comparable plot! <---big clue!!
