My Cousin Vinny! - Great Film

My earlier one that no one got

"I Kick a$$ for the lord"

One of Peter Jacksons early films called  "Dead Alive" which curently holds the title as the goriest movie of all time, and pioneered the Horror/Comedy film.

The scence takes place in a graveyard when the main character is attacked my a gang of punks and zombies at the same time. Things look bleak when suddenly the preacher shows up saying "This calls for divine intervention!" He kung fu's everyone, but meets his demise when he kicks a zombie's head into the air and it lands teeth down on his neck... brilliant scene

Here's one anime fans should get

"I was head of the CIA at Yellowstone National Park... In Canada"

and

Main Character: "Thing is I hate guys that abuse women" *Then he knocks out the girl standing next to him*

Yay! Agreed!
And ugh! *is not a fan of gore* *looked away from screen at points even during Repo!*

--Would not have known*
--Sounded familiar*

Now here's another from an all-time favorite (that still creeps me out as much as it makes me giggle)--a quote that I actually do employ frequently:

"So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it."

If you don't get it from that, you might get it from this (though I haven't often quoted it):
"Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple."

(1) Correct! Yay!
(2) Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) in Rocky Horror Picture Show--I believe right between Time Warp and Sweet Transvestite!

Try this one, specially offered to honor Presidents' Day!
"What Jefferson was saying was, Hey! You know, we left this England place 'cause it was bogus; so if we don't get some cool rules ourselves - pronto - we'll just be bogus too! Get it?"

Digging deep here....  Fast Times at Ridgemont High? Sounds like a Spiccoli Quote

Good Job on the RHPS Quote how about

"Eastman. He was a man... that came from the east... to do battle with the amazing RANDO!"

also

"Into the weenie moblie - weenie man away"

and

"I'm experiencing a sensation all together new to me, and frankly - I love it"

Hey I am *so* glad you joined here! Totally digging it!
Actually this thread inspired me to put Dogma quotes on my Facebook, and folks have been replying (including someone from KC!) :)
(Hey if you are on FB or MS, friend-add me.)
Yah I've been into RHPS since choreographing and dancing the Time Warp for our 6th Grade Talent Show!!
Yay! Yes it's Spiccoli. When we were in 8th grade my boyfriend reminded everyone of him, so we'd quote stuff all the time.

Your first one, the only "Eastman" I could think of was from The Westing Game. Believe it or not I never saw the movie of it. I only read the book--about 5 or 6 times. So I looked yours up, and you get major brownie points for a clever selection!! With extra whip cream on top for selecting quotes that actually make me want to go out and watch it!! Yay!~

How 'bout this:
(sorry I can't get my mind out of the 80s gutter <-- Big clue)
"There's going to be sex, drugs, rock-n-roll... chips, dips, chains, whips. You know, your basic high school orgy type of thing."

Oh and just to prove I've actually seen some films this century too lmao.....
Well also because it's a political dig in a spectacular flick....
"My old man had a philosophy: Peace means having a bigger stick than the other guy."
--"Great line, coming from the guy selling the sticks!"

Lotus, the Wrestler. Sounds just like the ads.

Rem, uh is that Iron Man? When Tony is demo'ing his latest missile before it all goes south?

A few lines feel familiar, but no good guesses otherwise.

I am not going to post line as I won't be back until Sunday eve.
Have Fun

@ pepito:
Yes, that was the movie, Weird Science! Love it!
No, I never saw the TV show! Didn't even know there was one! Must find!!

@ jaybug:
Yes, that was Iron Man.

@ Tom:
Can't put my finger on it, familiarish though; some double entendre about peeing? <-- embarrassed to ask

@ housekeeping from my earlier posts:
The song from Dogma is "Still" by Alannis Morrisette.
The quote "More human than human; that's our motto" is from Blade Runner, based on Philip K. Dick's book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

Not sure if there are any others I posted that no one got yet.
Hm, what to post next? It's getting harder now that there's also a game on Facebook!

Here's one I posted on FB:
"Adventure, excitement... a Jedi craves not these things."
(a) Who says it in what original film (easy);
(b) Who proclaims it in what comedy (less easy unless you're a big fangirl  like me) :)

From the same film:
"I love the smell of commerce in the morning."
(a) Who says this line in what film?
(b) What is the original line of which this is a parody?
(c) Who says (b) in what film?

for some reason (A) escapes me.  I'll try and post hints to the lines I posted sometime later today.

Alright Rem

Jedi craves is originally said by my master Yoda

Brodi makes the commerence quote which is a spin on the very famous line "I love the Smell of Napalm in the morning" from Apocalypse Now said by Commander Kilgore. Another awesome flick.

I missed your Blade Runner quote - the last thing I wrote when I was in college was about Blade Runner and Rocky IV

@Tom

I looked it up... It's shorts
However, it should be fighting evil... not crime

New quote... this ones tough

"Wow, I never thought of it from the perspective of people who don't matter"

Pepito, you are my new cyberhero. Not only for everything of mine (and others) you've gotten right (nor even for your awesome Star Wars cosplay pix on MS), but for the sheer brilliance and trickiness of where you've gone to get your quotes :) Sure I've had to get very creative in my googling to find them (and hence am not posting the answer as one that I knew), but hey, now I *definitely* know that I need to go and buy a DVD of something instead of just watching it for free!

(note that I rewrote that sentence for it to be less of a clue).

Oh and WTF? Blade Runner and Rocky IV?? I have no clue what's in Rocky IV, but if it has anything whatsoever to do with BR, I wanna know! Do you still have a copy (or the abstract or intro) of said paper??

Okay, from one of the films most influential on my way of looking at life (um, no really):
"Then, after about 15 minutes, you're spit out into a ditch on the New Jersey turnpike."

Babcock: I dropped by the Bixby School. And what do I find? I find he isn't even registered there, he never has been. So I've been hunting through every low, crockpot school in this town, and I finally found him in the lowest of them all.

A M: Mr. Page is a progressive educator...

Babcock: There they were, a schoolroom full of them: boys, girls, teachers, romping around stark naked, bare as the day they were born.

A M: I assure you that the children under Mr. Page's care were engaged in normal, healthful, broadening procedures.

Babcock: Broadening? You show them what you were doing when I broke into that place. Go ahead, show them.

Patrick: We just playing Fish Family.

Babcock: Fish Family.

Patrick: It's a sort of constructive play.

Babcock: Now, listen to this.

A M: Show me now darling, show me.

Patrick: Well, we do it right after yogurt time. Mrs. Page and all the girls crouch down on the floor under the sun lamps. And they pretend to be lady fishes, depositing their eggs in the sand. Then Mr. Page and all the boys do what gentlemen fish do.

A M: [pause] What could be more wholesome or natural?

OMG I totally remember the peanut scene now.

As clues, here are some other quotes from the same film as my above:
"Then, after about 15 minutes, you're spit out into a ditch on the New Jersey turnpike."--

"Do you know what a metaphysical can of worms this portal is?"

"IT'S--MY--HEAD!!"

Yay!
*glomps Kylite*
Easily one of my all-time WTF did they just say that/do that?! movies. Especially the scene where he's in his own head, and everyone he sees is him. For the past 3 Kumoricons, I've been among Guy's panelists on his Religion in Anime and Manga panels. If the panels were just on religion in films in general, I'd actually have to reference that scene, in the context of Dzogchen (a branch of Tibetan Buddhism), which postulates that nothing exists outside of one's own thinking.

Oy vey, Spaceballs, figures. Sounded like a Star Wars parody!

So, there are other, trickier quotes from the following, but this is one of the ones that really stands out in my memory, no matter how long it's been since I've seen the film or read about it, so I'm going with it, even if it's a give-away......:
" This is your life, right here, right now! It's real-time, you hear me, real time! Time to get real, not playback. You understand me? "

^ clearly H. P. Lovecraft. I don't remember that from In The Mouth of Madness, so it must be the Cthulu movie? Or I suppose it could be some warped "chaos magicks" movie involving the Necronomicon? Or some youtube video of nerds playing Call of Cthulu.

My former roommate's exboyfriend named his band "Cthuluhoop". Thought you'd get a kick out of that.

This one came to me in my sleep *is that much into movie trivia*
"Nobody puts Baby in a corner."

Seriously, I even wrote out an extensive, challenging movie trivia quiz that folks played while awaiting their Teppanyaki at Ron of Japan for my Sweet 16
(yep I was a Japanophile before I knew about anime).

So on that note, because I'm just as nerdy about good TV:
What awesome TV show had an episode named after this quote?

(Note: I knew the movie quote off the top of my head, and watched the TV show, but didn't know the episode title without google.)

Well, you are right as far as your guess about the Cthulhu Mythos. I'll just give the answer because the movie is probably a bit too obscure, heh. It's a Stuart Gordon movie from 2003, I think, called "Dagon". A fantastic film if you like the Cthulhu Mythos.

And that band sounds amazing, lol. Are they still together?

Um, I should be the one providing the quote now, even though that one is clearly the early 90's Dracula movie with Wynona Ryder in it.

"Aagh!  Are their brains completely rotten!?!"
"Well, some things taste best just before they're about to go bad, you know."
"Ugh..."

I'll have to check out Dagon. In the Mouth of Madness freaked me out big time (somewhat enjoyably).

Cthuluhoop was really just one person and a bunch of machines. Pucca Pangenitor. I just tried to write him to get the scoop as to if he's still playing under that name and will try to find an old recording.

Good job recognizing Dirty Dancing. The TV episode was of "Veronica Mars," which I love.

Had I been home I totally would've got Repo and Dracula! But I don't know the brain-eating quote. Zombies are my least favorite non-human villians. Or should I say ex-human.

Try this memorable zinger:
"Did they look like psychos? Is that what they looked like? They were vampires. Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them, I don't give a #$%^ how crazy they are!"

"Yes! Live! Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!"

(From the same movie)

Still no takers?  Already told you there was a musical version starring Lucille Ball,  Hmm.. another hint.

Based on the supposedly true account of a wealthy socialite during the stock market crash and the beggining of the great depression.

Last hint.. Stars Rosalind Russel in ,what I think, is her greatest role ever!  And If you have not seen this movie.  GO RENT IT NOW!  It is old enough you may actually have trouble finding it.

Mame. ???

" I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."

Have Fun
