Oh, god.
« on: February 18, 2009, 10:19:47 pm »
Yaoi fangirls. *diiiie*
They can just match any character up with any other character and be all "SO AND SO SHOULD BE ALL SUCH AND SUCH WITH SO AND SO AND SUCH AND SUCH SHOULD HAPPEN"
I would like to say that...
IT'S. ANNOYING.
D: I don't want to argue over who gets matched up with who. People can have different opinions about so and so's relationship with this person, or that person, or maybe even that person over there. Unless it is stated in the story, I'll leave it at that.
I just hate how some people can make it so messed up.
End of rant. *wanders off*

I completely agree with you, Dana! It's pretty terrible to constantly hear people pairing up these characters that should not be thought of in that way, it's destructive to the integrity of the story and the characters...and just really annoying.

@Dana
I agree.  Everyone may have a perferance that may not be canon, but I think its starts getting extreme when they think canon is "wrong" when its well presented and overlooked glaring plot holes(one of them is dead),  exaggerated vices("he is a major jerk because he said no"), or virtues("he/she not evil, just misunderstood!!"

if may I ask, what was the pairing about?

This.

And to a greater degree all shippers: DO NOT COMPLAIN IF THE CREATORS DO NOT LIKE OR SUPPORT YOU PAIRINGS DO NOT TRY TO REWRITE THE ENDING OF THE SERIES TO FIT YOUR QUITE FRANKLY RETARDED MISGUIDED FAN PAIRING IS NOT CANON.

Just try and guess what kind of shippers I'm directing most if not all my hatred towards.

I remember when I first started reading Harry Potter fanfics and seeing this a lot.  It got really annoying.  And some pairing make me face palm(i.e. HarryxTomRiddle)

@Dana
O_o
Yeah, I think I understand your POV.

Yaoi fangirls(in the extreme ones) don't listen to reason, Word of God.  and forget that non yaoi pairings exist.

I must say that I'm also not a fan of this fake pairing thing. :-\
Most of them completely contradict the characters. If you like the series, why do you go and change their attitudes and behaviors? It's almost a slap in the face to the creator.

I dun mind the pairing if they at least make it sound plausible, admit its extreme unlikely(basically, saying its a guilty pleasure), and/or dun shove down other people's throats.

@Maki
I think its really annoying when they competely change a character's personility with no explanation or background(to back it) to make their OTP (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OneTruePairing)

@Dana
Yes...I've seen them while searching for fanfiction over at fanfiction.net

I like yaoi. I also like yuri, het, gen, and pretty much anything else. But only as long as the characters are interesting. Make me believe it and you've got yourself a reader.

I just got reminded of another case while reading tvtropes under "All Girls want Bad Boys"

it mentioned two characters that should be very dislikeable(one of them is described as brutal, severely misogynistic, and a tyrant), but most likely for their super bishi looks, they have "legions of apologistic fangirls".  And later when when you learn that said evil bad boy is really a girl, every single one instantly turns on the character or just flat out ignores it.

When it comes to characterization, why write ANYTHING if you're going to make the characters unrecognizable?

Someone suggested it to me the other day...I posted pictures of my Miis that I'd made and one of them was this one character that's supposed to be all omgsrs. But the Mii was involved in an incredibly cutesy game, and people wanted me to write a fic about it, and I said I wasn't sure how to do that and keep him in character, and the reply was "Why not just write him OOC?" Um how about no? Seriously, then I wouldn't be writing HIM any more.

And that's in a gen piece!

I agree with this thread only I don't hate yaoi in general, I mean I'm obsessed with gay men, I just don't like pointless, non-canon slash.

I mean seriously, Kingdom Hearts has been ruined for me because of fangirls and their slashy fics, fanart, and lets not forget, cosplay. Uhg. I frequent Deviantart a lot so it's not like I can escape that stuff either cuz it's all over the front page. Cannot unsee the Riku x Sora-ness

@Blackjack
I believe its likely because they dun enough ideas of their own or maybe they just like the looks of the characters of a series.
I remember reading one author's rant how one fanfic, they just took the characters for their own story and personilities.

Fanon can also lead to skewed ideas what of a character is like.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DracoInLeatherPants  < talks a lot of the examples for villains suddenly becoming very popular.

you're saying that you sat in front of a laptop of dubious quality, wearing nothing but a cheap tank top and cheap underpants(no bra), cheap glasses that dun fit, and already starting to have white hair for some reason despite being young in the summer?

I dun believe it.

I question my labtop at times, you unplug it and it turns off, it doesnt read any discs any longer and i hear things rattling in it. I have five sets of cheap tank tops and panties, and it gets hot enough in the summer thats what i sleep in and often dont change out of them unless im expecting to be seen by anyone besides my parents. and glasses? Mine still dont fit. Only thing i can really deny is the gray hair. though it looks like it ocasional cause some of my blond highlights fade

Do you have various bookmark links to various yaoi websites?

at least, its fujoshi have a more positive look then otaku males.....>_>
there is a romance manga about a guy asking a pretty girl who happens to be a fujoshi.  it looks quite interesting, but its still on my to do list on what to read  *is a very heavy reader

If you really like yaoi, I think that makes that makes you fujoshi.  At least, in my book a fujoshi is basically a yaoi geek/nerd/otaku.  its when you become fanatical about it that its gets scary, i.e. yaoi fangirls
