One of my coworkers was awesome enough to lend it to me. I'm about 3/4 of the way done with it. It's pretty much awesome. Rorschach is pretty much the best character, with his random sugar cube eating ways. Just read a review on the movie and am now even more excited to see it.

was the review good or bad? Though even if it is bad I don't really listen to them =/

A lot of movies where the review said it was bad I really enjoyed ;D

General Consenus of reviews is

Movie Is awesome

Movie will make you twitch or gag at some point

The lack of squyid will disturb some hardcore fans, but Snyder did a good job with the ending

Rorschach is bomb diggity for sniggity

Osmandias could have been better

Squid! I can't wait to read and learn about this awesome squiddy-part.

Even if it isn't in the movie, though, I know I won't be disappointed by it. The movie is gonna be too awesome to get let down by.

I won't spoil the ending - but I'm not sure how they are going to pull off the non-squid ending. I have faith in Zach Synder to deliver though.

I guess no one down south has any plans to see this. Unless they just don't use this site as everyone is from up north.

Anyway, I couldn't really do a midnight showing. I will have worked 14 days in a row by then. But I do get off work about 1 hour before show time. However I have to go to the dentist at 9:30am Friday to get the hole in my crown from getting a root canal filled. I hope you asked. lol if you didn't!

Does this mean EoA, that you won't get to meet up with me and my wife Saturday the 7th sometime before the game? I am thinking Powell's and Jake's maybe, and perhaps what? Donuts! Those aren't too far to walk from 10th 11th is it?
Have Fun

@ nikkiolie

The review I read gave it four stars. They said it was awesome, not as good as Dark Knight, but amazing for the "unfilmable" graphic novel.
It's on denofgeek.com. They're an amazingly epic website anyway, so check it out.

Nope, I am still able to meet up with you and your wife. The movie will be Thursday night, so I will definitely still be free on Saturday. ^_^

That's cool. I know nothing about that movie except that it is foreign and won awards or something.

So I decided I am going to make a Rorschach mask for the midnight showing. I'm sure there will be others dressing up, but I still think it would be fun. I won't do the whole costume, though, just the mask. Yay, inkblot face!

Slumdog=Best Picture Oscar! My wife and I saw it. Yeah it was good. I learned a bit more about Indian culture, especially of Mumbai. Although it does a bit of travelogue, and I was guessing if I knew where in India they were at the time. 5 star hotel! lol!

Anyway, anyone can meet up with us who wishes the Saturday after. I just want to have a donut, meet people I know here, visit Portland a bit, and go watch the Blazers with my mom that evening.
Have Fun

Yeah, I will get my info and response to you in that PM, Jay, but it sounds like a good time.

And that Slumdog Millionaire does sound pretty interesting. I will probably look into seeing it at some point. I can always go for some eye-opening film about international affairs.

And Watchmen! Woo! We have quite a few of our non-forum friends coming to see it with us Thursday night, so there should be a massive group of us.

just finished reading watchmen tonight. it was good, but imho, i think the movie will be better *hides from avid watchmen comic fans* idk, movie seems way more exciting and quicker paced... the comic jumped around a lot and it seemed to take a long time for things to get rolling in the story. i guess i've just gotten too used to fast-paced story lines >.>

but yay, only a few more days ^.^ i can hardly wait!!

So I just started reading Watchmen tonight and I have to say I am absolutely hooked. I think you said you thought the beginning was slow, right, Kahlan? I actually am really enjoying it. It feels like a great pacing, and I love the dialogue and just the storytelling going on. Right from the beginning there is this great atmosphere of paranoia and imminent trouble. Very strong representation of the notion of Cold War terror and Doomsday clock machinations. I love it.

And Rorschach is awesome, haha.

Oh, and this is really cool too! Apparently, in the works is an animated movie based on a comic book created within the Watchmen universe. It's called Tales of the Black Freighter, and Gerard Butler (300) is doing the voice of the main character. I have yet to reach the point in Watchmen where this comic comes up, but the movie looks fantastic!

http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/watchmen/ - It's the trailer called "Tales"

^ yeah, i like it a lot too, i guess i was just rushing a bit to get it done, but it does set a good tone. even if it is a bit on the slow side for me at points, it works for the story. i suppose i was a bit hasty in my comment above, heh. i think i was recalling certain areas of the novel being slower, but most of it is pretty well paced. sorry for my too quick assessment >.<

and that animated movie sounds cool. i can't watch the trailer cause i don't have the latest quicktime >.< but the story it's based on seemed pretty interesting. i think i'd have paid more attention if i wasn't making myself hurry through the book (not that there was any pressure on me to do so, just felt i needed to so others would have ample time to read the copy i got) the  story of the black freighter seemed really brutal and i had been thinking it would be awesome to have it on it's own so i could focus on it. it was hard for me to give it full attention when i wanted to read more about the main story of watchmen, lol (i'm weird)... but that's really exciting about the animated movie, especially since gerard butler is doing the voice of the main character ^.^

And there was no rush in reading it, heh, but if you want to go back and read through it again you can. I should be done in a couple days.

the comic does seem a little slow to start out with but I think I may wait to read the rest till after I see the movie. I have been looking forward to this movie for a long time now and I don't want to be disappointed because I read the comic and they left some stuff out. So I plan on waiting.

Ah, well that makes sense. I started reading it already so I don't think I can make myself wait, heh. I am somewhat addicted now, and just my personal preferences, I always like to try to read the material before I see a film, so I am still going to aim to finish it in time.

Also, I am already so impressed with the movie, I really don't think it is possible for me to get disappointed by it, even if there are things missing.

Yeah that is true too. I can already tell that I will like the movie so I'm not too sure that anything will make me NOT like it but still....plus this week I need to focus on school work so I might not have the time to finish reading it :P
