I tend to choose characters with big weapons/props, so for my prop materials I tend to head to Home Depot or Lowe's. PVC Pipe for super cheap, and it can be a suitable base for many weapons. ^_^

For fabric and basic craft materials I try WalMart first since they're inexpensive. I made a bleach cosplay for under $10 from there because they had perfect $1 a yard fabric. For some things I go to JoAnns though, since they carry a lot of the fancier fabrics and a little more variety as far as crafting supplies go.

Goodwill and Value Village for cheap, specific clothing pieces. For fabric and patterns, usually JoAnn's. Craft supplies I go to Michael's or JoAnn's. Those two always have 40% coupons in the Sunday paper. :3 Sometimes big box stores like Walmart or Fred Meyer's will have useful tools for cheaper, but it's pretty rare to find the super specific stuff there.

there's a great fabric store in milwaukie called mill end, and there's another in beaverton. both have a great selection of fabrics, patterns, buttons/zippers, etc and most of the time there are people working who know their stuff and can help out lots ^.^

let's all meet at icicle inn!

I go a variety of places for cosplay supplies- but for fabric I go to Joanns, prop supplies I go to Home Depot or True Value hardware, wigs I go to Cosworx and everything else I go to eBay for.

fabric: Joann's, Mill End,
costume pieces: Goodwill, Nordstrom Rack, Costume Avenue, Halloween Warehouse(careful w/ items from here--break more easily)
full costumes: ebay.com tabao.com

<--- self proclaimed ebay junkie

Ebay is where I go, but i also have a few personal sites ^^ If I'm making it, then like everyone else said, JoAnn's rules :3 I had found a 75% off fabric that went perfect for a large dress I was making, and it only cost me 40 for 6 yards, when it normally would have cost me over 100

I pretty much go everywhere.

I've got stuff I'm using from hardware stores, military surplus, craft stores, walmart, joanns, ebay, cosworx, amphigory, work safety stores, and from my work itself. That's probably one reason I need to cut down on spending so much on cosplay stuff..pay a ton for shipping <.<

I guess a better way to say it is: I go to the internets for my cosplay stuff :P
